B
Uncle.

But that did not prepare him for the wave of vertigo that swaps over him at the word. Or the knowledge that comes with it. Not that the whole fact of his nephew being on the network wouldn't have been enough.
He considers staying in the same language for a moment - he would normally switch to Icelandic with such matters, the language is just closer to his heart, but he's never sure how much his sister's children really understand of that - and then realizes that with his nephew, there seems to be none of that feeling of uneasiness, at least not right now. It feels right.]
Come to the smithy. We have to talk.
[It's the place where they will be most likely not interrupted by anyone, and Þórir has always much preferred talks in person to talks in any other medium.]
no subject
But his uncle was part of it too. And that language feels right, feels like it's part of his very bones and his heart. So he replies again, a short and simple affirmation before getting up and heading to the smithy.]
Yes, Uncle.
permakhuzdul?
When Filbert enters the room, he'll look up.]
Fil. How long have you been on the network?
sure
A few weeks. I'd say it started shortly after I moved in.
no subject
But one after the other. He places the sword over his knees, the work resting for the moment, all concentration on listening. There is a chair nearby and he won't invite Filbert to sit on it, but not hinder him either - the boy (sorry, Fil) should feel at home enough in this house to not need invitations for such things.]
What do you remember?
no subject
True, there was a chair nearby and he knew his Uncle wouldn't mind if he sat but Fil was too full of nervous energy to sit down. So he wandered around, picking up an object here and there to look at, even though he'd see all of them before. ]
Not much. Just this language, and some things are familiar.
no subject
Still.] Familiar?
no subject
Take this as an example uncle. I've been in here a few times before, but this wouldn't have caught my eye before. Now? I feel like I should know how to use it. But I still don't. If that makes any sense?
no subject
Have you felt any change in feelings, attitude or other such things?
no subject
Not really. I feel like I should know YOU a lot better but...

[He smiles at that, and places his next words as carefully as warmly - he had feared that there would be more trouble with fitting a young adult newly into the household, and to his pleasant surprise found that despite how different his and Filbert's personalities were it has been a very smooth and easy process. (ooc: going with that he lives with them for this thread, I hope that is okay?)
He likes his whole family, but there are degrees and there are differences in ease of being around them, and he's found this nephew of his on the high end of the scale. There really are worse people that he could share not only one but two lives with.]
I would hope that you would remember your uncle, Fili.
entirely fine! I'm still not 100% sure how echoes worked yet, but this could do I think
To share two lives with his man in front of him...Fil thought it couldn't be bad thing.]
Fili...It feels right. You as my Uncle...that too.
no subject
[It's such a weird feeling, knowing this - remembering a sister that he knows nothing about but the name. He does have a sibling about whose whereabouts he knows nothing these days, and that is weird enough. Remembering that he had a sister but not remembering anything about her...]
Fili Dísarson... I wonder if his mother resembled yours. [Because while they seem to have been those other men once, he refuses to see themselves as them. Even if they might at least partly become them again.] Do you remember anything about her now? [It's possible - the knowledge that he just received goes along the lines of "I had a nephew through a sister by the name of Dís and he looked a lot like Filbert". Maybe Fil remembered something about the mother of his former self?]
[ooc: I just realized, Dís (yielding Dísarson) and Dísa (yielding Dísuson) are actual Icelandic female names, in case you want to do to Fil what I did to Thorir aka keep/roughly keep his parent's name.)
no subject
[There was an image in his head now, of a very short woman in his head, one with long dark hair and a...beard? of all things.]
Dis...? Her name is Dis? Yes...that sounds right. She's got long dark hair with bits of grey in it and a beard of all things. Ma's got the dark hair, but she's much taller and of course she doesn't has a beard. [Fili gives a quick shake of his head. This was getting confusing.]
no subject
A beard? [Someone really needs to tell Thorir about the dwarf part. Seriously. Right now he's thinking more of something like Beorn's family, and that is. an awkward idea. (It will also solve the confusing question of why he thinks that Kili was a lot taller than Killian is while Killian seems to assume that he was shorter... Dear Thorir, you were shorter...)
At the moment, he's just. Staring at his nephew. Imagining Eydís with a beard. Sorry sis.]
no subject
Yeah. It's a nice beard actually. Very neat and it's braided with decorations and everything. [And this is when he notices the look on his uncles face. This is when the little shit part of him surfaces.] I'm going to tell ma you think of her with a beard.
no subject
[There is a moment of panic - not deep to the bone, fearful one, more the "my sister will kill me" type - but then he shakes his head.] You would have to explain to her how I came to that thought. [And that is obviously not an option.]
