Test Drive meme!

Because all our characters are the modern reincarnates of the characters we know and love, you need a modern mundane AU! Post your character with a couple details about who they are now. Use a prompt to set the scene, or do something of your own! And tag around.
->Stranding Shower Inclement weather has suddenly forced you to take shelter. There's someone else under this overhang or bus stop - this might take a while, so you might as well get to know them.
->Mall (mis)adventures You work at a mall. Or you want to buy something. Or maybe you just loiter around. There's a lot of reasons to be at the mall!
->Network news So you got a number. Let's see what happens if you write it down...
->Superhuman Sighting You have an interest in seeing one of the numbered - is that one there?
->Superhuman Surprise You felt hollow for a moment, and now you're numbered! Suddenly you're that much closer to canon and manifesting a mutation, a power, or a strange memory! Probably in public!
->Wild Card Combine prompts or pick something less alliterative! Monsters! Cultists! Boring days at the mall!

Do you need glasses? I told Mom I think you need glasses.
[she has her hand closed around something, with a fine necklace chain coming out of her fist and looped around her wrist.]
no subject
And I told you that if I need glasses, I'll make them myself. It can't be hard if one just actually tries.
[Breaking eye contact to look at her hand though and then looking back up at her, raising an eyebrow. What's that?]
no subject
I didn't steal it. [she's probably shoplifted in the past. Doesn't anymore, but the protest still comes up immediately, and she holds it closer to herself.] I found it, and if Mom and Dad see they'll probably get freaked out.
no subject
Show me. [Holding out his hand to be handed the thing. He'll not go to their parents about it, but he wants to know what she found anyway, if it is something that their parents would freak out over.]
no subject
[Glance left and right, and she starts turning away.] Not here, too many people. C'mon, unless you've decided you can't live without the latest James Patterson.
no subject
And I was looking for a book by McGravish about invented languages, if you must know. The employee said that they have it. [And the annoyance is back in his voice. The book can boast with a good amount of critical acclaim, and a teacher that he trusts with such things recommended it to him.
He'll follow her, though. Or rather, walk past her and out of the store onto the pavement and down the street, expecting her to tag along.] Let's head back home. [There is a park on the way that should be fairly empty at this time of the day.]
no subject
Maybe someone just got to the last copy before you. -hey, this is closer. [Is that an abandoned store? It is. Nat, no.]
no subject
...Okay, looking at that storefront. Looking at Nat. Back at the storefront.
...............Well. What did he expect, exactly? This is Nat, after all.]
And how are you planning on getting in?
no subject
The back's unlocked. Broken padlock, unlocked, same thing. They probably think just 'cause there's a better lock on the chain link back there that's fine. [To Natasha, if you don't hurt anything or get caught, it's not really forbidden. What made her give up shoplifting actually was being told that it makes things hard on employees.]
If you can't climb the fence, we can head home.
no subject
Lead the way.
[He's fairly indifferent towards Nat's approach to rules, mostly because he figures that bending rules that are in your way can be fine if the rules were dumb anyway. He doesn't think that rules about people not going into abandoned buildings are dumb, but... well. Indifferent in this case, mental shrug. As long as they don't get caught...]

Nat has a weird relationship with sports. She's a little weird and doesn't make that many friends, and is best at running and climbing. But team sports can be a lot of fun. Sometimes. If she's not picked last. In any case, she's up one side of the fence and down the other quickly, then shaking out her hands where the chain link dug into them before getting the back door open.
It's gloomy in the dark hallway. Part of the better-lit front of the store, with its display windows, is visible, and an abandoned thermos on the floor, but they can't be seen from outside.]
I don't get why people leave their coffees behind. Everywhere I go, though...
[She fishes out the thing on a necklace chain again. A trace of red light shows through her closed fingers.]
no subject
And he'll forego commenting on the coffees to glue his eyes to the thing in her hands and hold out his own in a quiet gesture of wanting her to hand it to him, whatever "it" is.]
no subject
Do you feel it? It's... [It's rare Nat falters, note this!] bittersweet.
no subject
[He raises the crystal, his hand staying open, bringing it closer to his eyes to have a look. Hm. It feels...
He suddenly stumbles and almost drops it from the sudden feeling of dislocation, grasping the chain at the last moment.
Something (two somethings) hit his head just a moment later. Crystals as well, shining as well, but in a different light that looks like the sun and the moon's lights have mingled within them. They're larger, too, about the size of a chicken egg.]
no subject
[She startles when the other crystals appear, but not so badly that she doesn't snatch one before it can hit the floor. The light of it shining through her hand makes it glow red.]
Crap. You had to try and outdo me, huh?
no subject
OUCH.]
What-
[....looking down at those shiny stones. What.]
They aren't mine. [Frowning deeply. But seriously who throws with glowy stones at people. In an abandoned house. Nat, if this is some kind of elaborate prank... Leveling a gaze at her (even though this isn't actually her style, but what other explanation is there really?]
no subject
They sure aren't mine. Give me the red one back. There's something I'm supposed to make with it.
[she's not really known for making things, but she's serious here. There is a shape of something, and the red crystal is the heart.]
But hey, if you don't want the big ones, I'll take them. You know these things are all probably pulses, right?
