A simple meme. Post a comment describing a hypothetical meeting between the Save the Earth AU version of your character (IE the one in this game) and the original version (IE the one straight out of the TV show/book/game.) either with a description of their opinions or with an actually written out conversion.

Also, if you like, you can continue by way of tagging other people's posts, and threading out an encounter between your StE AU and their Original Flavor version. Or between your your Original Flavor and their StE AU.

Bertholdt is about the same, honest, though old Bertholdt is a little more... dead inside. Also, he has a lot of identity issues (not Reiner level ones though,) and for the most part hates himself. He's riddled with grief and guilt. He doesn't want anyone to know or care about him, and he doesn't care about himself either. His love for Reiner also borders on subservient devotion.

New Bertholdt is equally shy and standoffish but way sassier and not that depressed now that he has friends. He loves Ryan but not in the same strange, desprrate way. He hates what he might become.

Old Bertl is super jealous of new Bertl and would give anything to be him instead.

Nobuo Akagi would be pretty jealous actually. Sure, he was a hero and all, but Thomas had a fairly normal personal life. Hell, Thomas had a girlfriend and an actual career. He would be excited to talk to Thomas about sentai though thanks to them both having encyclopedic knowledge.

Thomas himself would probably be pretty tempted to throttle Nobuo. This was the guy who was changing his personality and making him into some socially awkward super nerd. He would resist though and ask him all about the world he's from and about the Akibarangers. He'd definitely want to brainstorm for ideas on how to handle Enter.

There is only a plethora of mutual disgust.

Karson is entirely disgusted by Karkat's violent attitude and threats, convinced that this version of himself is a watered down, soulless little imp. Obviously Karkat hasn't ascended to his pirate-jesusy throne, and any denials to the contrary will be shot down. Because, as we all know, Karson's confusions and misconceptions don't exist-- he's always right, and any protests Karkat might have against him are total bullshit. Karson will do his best to outrant Karkat and will fail miserably. His only claim to superiority will be Crab.

Karkat will be in hate-- this is it, Karson is the manifestation of everything he was ever hatched to hate. He's weak and weakhearted, whiny, irritating, and thinks that he's so goddamn clever. He's human and has had the easiest life imaginable with wonderful friends, but he still finds time to bitch like a child. Karkat's hate for Karson is incomprehensible, unable to grasp by us mere mortals. The sun will grow and consume the earth, but Karkat's hate will remain. The universe will eventually flicker out of existence, but Karkat's hate will remain. Gods will rise and fall, but Karkat's hate will remain.

They might make out.

Hee, if they're both AUed into Middle Earth like got speculated on a meme once, Julien is a young hobbit and Yuuya's some kind of half-blood Ranger and they are friends. Without the "you're different reincarnations of the same person" thing going on they really would easily be friends. Yuuya's about eighty times more secretive, and not all that reliable for social stuff, but he's as friendly and social and easygoing as Jules.

...Yuuya's kind of wondered what it's like to be human and thought about it before. It's something he wouldn't mind trying if it was like temporary! In his world to be human is to be disadvantaged in most ways. So he wouldn't understand Julien's tremendous aversion to becoming a bird.

Julien is basically a Yuuya without childhood trauma. He has self worth issues, but he's not self-loathing. He can trust people and tell them secrets. He is liked, given some respect, and even loved. And Yuuya... would think all that is a good thing. He would pity Julien tremendously for picking up Yuuya's memories and personality traits, and... Julien's aimlessness and general manchild nature really wouldn't bother him, especially since he does try.

I've kind of stated before that Julien's something like Ryouta, who's an underclassman working through some emotional issues and who Yuuya helps out. So, similarly Yuuya would want to give him advice and help him, though his secretive nature would make it difficult. Ultimately he'd decide Julien's probably going to be all right even without specific advice. He is Yuuya, and Yuuya experienced and did what he did in real time, alone, as a child, and... he isn't fine, but it hasn't broken his spirit.

...Julien wouldn't even want to talk to him and would get tremendously upset. He really really wants to believe he won't be a bird. It's ceased to be rational months ago. If this was like a situation where the originals all got jamjarred into the city Julien wouldn't want anyone even thinking they're each other.

If he could get past that somehow... he'd kind of admire Yuuya in some ways but find him careless, too cavalier. Yuuya has a degree of competence and confidence that Jules doesn't, there's no denying that he can get a lot done, but he's not as careful. If he prepared more or planned further he'd be a lot better off. And, well, if Julien knew what Yuuya did he'd be rightly horrified.

I think that about sums up their initial reaction, right there. While Mac is a (relatively) chill and composed asshole to all friends and foes alike, he sees this dweeby asshole in windsock pajamas who's so absolutely infuriatingly nerdy that he has to physically suppress the urge to give him a swirlie. And while he has all those cool awesome powers he also is so insufferably NICE that it's hard to get past.

John, on the other hand, basically laughs this all off and (rightly) calls Mac out on being a greaser nerd king. And while he's impressed with how his reincarnation is so cooooool he is also pretty nonplussed at how much of a TOTAL JERK HE IS AUGH GOD. He's also... a little more mature? Which is kind of neat to note even if it's mostly age difference talking (though he totally asks about the time Mac ran a gang and then laughs when it was called the Tunnel Snakes because ahahaha seriously man)

EVENTUALLY they end up being able to get along (even if Mac reinforces that John is to TELL ABSOLUTELY NO ONE) (John tells everyone) and end up watching Ghostbusters enough time to quote it word for word at each other when no one's looking.

I can't talk about Reiner without feeling impossibly sad....

It's no stretch to say Ryan has everything Reiner ever wanted, included a stable head thanks to not growing up with immeasurable guilt. Old Reiner had so much trouble facing himself that his mind just stopped wanting to deal with it and would forget all the bad stuff he did so that he could be happy. This unfortunately came at the cost of his relationship with his only real friend, Bertholdt.

tl;rd, Reiner could never even dream of a life as good as Ryan's. He wouldn't think he deserved something that good.

New and Old Kaworu are both awkward and embarrassing in different ways! Old Kaworu in Rebuild isn't quite as awkward and embarrassing, though, since he'd been through god knows how many time loops and even in that particular loop is pushing 30. Still, he's a non-human trying to present himself as normal, and has a pretty distinct otherness to him, but he's also pretty level headed and calculating when he needs to be. New Kaworu obviously does not have that problem, but he's not as smooth and well spoken as his canon counterpart, regardless of what he thinks. He's booksmart, but eccentric and without a lot of common sense. He's weird but very much a normal teenage boy despite his interests, and not as emotionally mature as he'd like to believe.

Old Kaworu would probably find New Kaworu a little pathetic, but treat him like a younger sibling who needs some guidance. For instance, a little insight into How To Properly Handle the Shinji, and some gentle persuasion that a lot of his beliefs on spirituality are pretty much bullshit (the angel of free will probably wouldn't jive too well with New Kaworu's fate boner).

Gavin and Gale wouldn't understand one another at all. Gavin is afraid of what he seems to be becoming, and Gale has no comprehension of fear or sadness... well, not really. He has a little bit of development in that area but his emotions are still pretty gone. Gavin would try to strike up a conversation and be met by a brick wall of I Do Not Find This Acceptable and have to back down eventually. Gale would simply study his successor a bit before deciding it's not worth it.

If Gavin asked he'd show him his Atma form though and Gavin would scream like a little girl.

Xander didn't know what to expect when he meets Sandrath. Sure, he had a few memories and abilities of the being he was becoming, but it was nothing compared to the real thing. It was rather startling at how close the other man resembles himself, except he has brown eyes instead of blue, no visible scars and dressed rather elegantly. Yet, there was this presence to this other man, with a confident posture and a rather cocky, all-knowing smirk on his face. Although, that expression didn't last long when the other being notices him. It was quickly replaced by a darker, curious expression with a slight tilt of his head as he approaches. Xander stands his ground, keeping his gaze level with the other man, but flinches slightly at catching a flicker black from the other man's eyes. That was something he hasn't seen before and has no idea what that flicker meant. It was enough for him to stay on guard, not sure what to come next.

"Well, someone is clearly trying to rile some old memories." Sandrath comments with a chuckle, moving to pace around him. "I have to admit whomever did this did a good job of recreating my first vessel, but they've missed a few details."

Just like that, the other being is pressing up against him and brought an arm to the front before brushing a hand against Xander's stomach, smoothing his palm across the fabric there. Xander couldn't help but tense a bit, finding himself at a bit of a disadvantage as Sandrath's hand moves across his torso. He would pause to tap a spot with his finger with a 'here' before continuing to another spot, sometimes dragging his finger to indicate a longer injury. It didn't take long for Xander to guess that Sandrath was referring to the time that he and his Conleth were stuck together and being tortured, a traumatic memory he received from a pulse after drinking the water when it was tainted. Except his train of thought was interrupted by a sharp pain in his side and glances down to see a weapon in the other man's hand. That knife wasn't there before and he would have felt Sandrath move to pull it out. This was rather concerning, considering his predicament.

"I could be kind and fix those tiny, little details..." Sandrath starts with another chuckle as he pulls back the blade and his other hand reaches up grasp Xander's throat, forcing his head back. "But you don't have to keep your lips sealed or else I'll start to think that you've lost your voice and you'll ruin my fun. Besides, it's not like I'm planning on impaling you against the wall and seeing what is on the inside."

If this was the person Xander was to become, he did not like it at all. He was nothing like this other man who invaded his space, felt him up before injuring him without missing a beat. What a sadistic bastard.

Xander could feel an increase of pressure on the sides of his throat, but he manages to grunt out. "...That won't be necessary. I would appreciate remaining intact."

As soon as he answered, the pressure decreases, but he can still feel Sandrath's hand around his neck and a sudden burning sensation around his injury. It was very similar to the time Savarna had healed him, but it lacked any trace of comforting warmth. It didn't fix the tear in his shirt and the stain that was drying in to it.

"So, he finally speaks!" Sandrath's words were followed by laughter as he moves to stand in front of him while keeping a hold on Xander's neck.

The rest of Sandrath's words went ignored since Xander's attention was focused on the murderous expression he was seeing. Something he said must have struck a nerve in the other being. This wouldn't end well and he should take his leave before it got worse. Without another word, he started to slip in to the shadows. The process was slow, but it was enough to cause Sandrath to stop in the middle of whatever he was saying to look at Xander with interest.

"Well, aren't you a bit of a surprise." The tone was flat, but Sandrath didn't bother to grab Xander from disappearing in to the shadows.

The first thing that original Roxy does is break all of Kurosawa's bottles of alcohol. Every single one.

Then she does her best to push her out into the public, trying to get Kurosawa to form as many friends as possible because Lalonde knows just how bad loneliness can fuck you up and damn is that not a path Kurosawa gets to go down, especially when there are more than, like, six people in the world.

Lalonde also does her best to get Kurosawa to reconcile with her mother, although whether this goes well is debatable. The thing is, Lalonde sees Kurosawa as her pre-game self (which she basically is), and so is desperate to keep her on a better path. Kurosawa is as likely to accept Lalonde as a wise mentor who has her shit together as she is to reject her in a "shut the fuck up this isn't a phase mom it's who i am" tantrum, depending on her mood and probably on how drunk she is at the time.

After getting over the mortician thing, Tara's pretty chill with Brooke. She actually kind of looks up to her for being confident and grown up and also for not having crazy powers that kill people.

Brooke thinks her younger self is adorable, even if she has terrible fashion sense and grooming habits. She takes Tara out for pie, because pie solves all problems, even ones caused by the fact that she unintentionally killed a few people when she lost control of her powers. WHOOPS

Aww, poor Jean. Nothing in his life can ever go right, not even in his future reincarnations, what a pathetic little kid. Those big nerdy glasses and what the hell is all that metal in his mouth for? Jamie on the other hand would be pretty intimidated on the outside while being a huge judgmentally fuck on the inside, that guy doesn't look like he's got a single bit of taste.

Overall though I have a feeling Jean would soon becoming over protective of his little modern self from whatever bullies and troubles he'd get himself into. Jamie would still judge silently..

Kurogane would be a bit weirded out by Youou, mostly because of his much easier way of dealing with things. It's not that Youou doesn't have a sense of pride, because he does, but it's so very different that it might take Kurogane a while to get it. Especially with the way he deals with a certain blond's teasing since Youou is pretty comfortable with being almost constantly embarrassed whereas Kurogane still has some issues on that front. I think that there would be a bit of nostalgic feelings considering Youou still has his parents but on the flip side there are all those sisters and Tomoyo is quite enough as it is, thank you very much.

But all in all I think he would be pretty fine with this other version of him and, especially if we're talking post!canon Kurogane, I don't think he'd really envy him of anything really in spite of Youou having had a much easier and happier life. Because with the way Kurogane is, in spite of all the shit that's been thrown at him, there's no place he'd rather be than where he is and he doesn't really believe in having regrets.

So from Kurogane's direction everything is fine. At least until they'd start talking after which everything would go to hell. Mostly because Youou, well...

Youou opinion of Kurogane is that he's a dick. And possibly an abusive one. Who really needs to get a control of his temper because jesus fucking christ not every problem can be solved by BASHING PEOPLE ON THE HEAD OR STABBING THEM THROUGH THE CHEST WITH YOUR SWORD! Maybe he should try communicating once in a while? Since that's a thing that Kurogane seems to forget a bit too often. And he's very sorry about how Kurogane lost his parents, and he can't even begin to imagine what that might feel like, but that is no excuse to mass murder people. Even if they're assassins or whatever.

And he'd have no problem with expressing this, probably using very big and fancy words because let's face it he's a bit more articulate than his older version. And then he'd start on Kurogane's life choices and then things would be going downhill pretty quickly, partly thanks to the fact that they now pretty much share the same temper problems. Depending on how much he knows about Kurogane's behaviour in the beginning of his travels he might also call him out on being a bit of a hypocrite, which I can't see going down well.

Basically they would probably end up shouting abuse at each other until their keepers better halves manages to diffuse the situation somewhat. But, after they've cleared the air a bit about certain stuff, they could probably learn to get along pretty well, with the exception of a few more shouting matches.

INITIALLY

Chris would go full on geek mode and be like HOLY SHIT, HOW ARE YOU SO TALL, AND YET YOU DON'T COLLAPSE UNDER YOUR OWN WEIGHT? HOW ARE YOU A BIPEDAL GIANT ROBOT THAT CAN WALK SO FLUIDLY AND AT THAT SIZE AND THAT FUCKING QUICKLY? HOLY SHIT YOU MEAN YOU GUYS EVOLVED AND THAT YOU ARE BASICALLY INORGANIC LIFE FORMS? TELL ME ABOUT YOUR PLANET. YOU TURN INTO A PLANE!? :O

And INITIALLY, she'd be very impressed by the whole overthrew the government thing

Buuuut as Starscream kept talking she'd eventually decide that he was a pompous asshat with severe emotional problems who probably needs a fucking therapist

Starscream would think that Chris is a stupid squishy human. Who gives a fuck? If he took five seconds to listen he'd probably go "Okay, you're a marginally intelligent stupid squishy human, now either help me conquer the universe or gtfo" He would be flattered by her fangirling though, and then pissed at the thought that he needs help HE DOESN'T NEED HELP THE UNIVERSE DOESN'T UNDERSTAAAAND HIM HE'S COOL DAMMIT HE DESERVES TO RULE

They'd probably just end up yelling at each other a lot. If they actually bothered talking for longer than fifty seconds, Chris might maybe be able to help Starscream get over his need to own everything, and Starscream might help Chris stop changing careers every five seconds, but it wouldn't happen because they're both arrogant shitheads and wouldn't have time for each other.

New!Kotetsu would be pretty much in awe of Old!Kotetsu, because he's basically everything New!Kotetsu wishes he was. But he'd also...feel incredibly shitty about himself because WHOA self-esteem issues and he's clearly a pathetic embarrassment to his old self, right? He would, however, think old!Kotetsu should try to make more time for his kid where he can despite the heroing.

Old!Kotetsu would be pretty sad to know that his reincarnated self was still bullied despite growing up without powers among other normal people, and overall that his other had a more difficult life than his own, but he'd also be glad that new!Kotetsu didn't really have any secrets to keep from his daughter and that they have had a fairly solid relationship. He wouldn't be even remotely as ashamed of New!Kotetsu as New!Kotetsu would expect, because he does good, honest work for the benefit of people, and has been trying his best in a really shitty situation. There would probably be a great deal of headpats pep talks and derpery would abound.
