Questions Meme
This is a meme in which you TALK FOREVER. How it goes:
1. Make a thread for yourself in this post, listing the characters you play and your own name.
2. Go find someone's thread to jump and ask them A QUESTION. The question can be anything, RP related is common, of course, but not necessary. Who do you want to app most? What does Character A think about Character B? What's your favorite flavor of icecream?
3. Answer all questions asked of you! Once you have answered, end your response with a question for the person who first questioned you. This is important to keep the discussion going and going.
4. This goes back and forth indefinitely until someone gets tired and can't reply anymore.
5. Have a lot of fun! ♥
This game is a fun way to get to talk to people, headcanon, and learn things you didn't know before! Because it involves gives and take, it can go quite a while and everyone can participate and possibly make friends.
Here is an example.

Lisa, representing Danny and Nathan/Jovan!

But it is definitely really fucking weird that I gravitate towards playing Danny and Nathan. Like, I pegged Nathan as the guy I would RP a good year before his ghost-related powers came to light. It's uncanny.
(Although I will admit, I do love the morbid aspect of it. I have a not so secret soft spot for really gruesome borderline-gory shit that both Danny and Nathan's powers lend themselves fantastically to.)
Now my turn, for a somewhat similar question: What do you think is the common thread between Anthony and Rarity that leads to you playing them both?
no subject
I think I find characters with some sort of obsessive bent or obvious passion easiest to play because it's easy to assume they're always going to be motivated by something, thinking about something, and willing to bond with other characters over something - I s'pose it just so happens that in Anthony and Rarity's cases bonding/interacting with people would be its own gratification because it's part of their respective passions - the former is eager-to-please and the latter is frivolous and likes social schmoozing.
That was far too many words, but anyway!
How do you think Danny and Nathan/Jovan's lives would have gone without the numbers nonsense?

Jovan's life hasn't actually changed much since the numbers. He still goes to school, still goes home on the weekends, still sits around trolling people online when he's not buried in work. At this point, the only difference is that he'd be more comfortable. Like, just in general. Right now, with all the horrible shit he keeps seeing on the network, he's feeling really nervous and uncertain and has started looking over his shoulder a lot more. In the future, though, I imagine he'll get more into the thick of it and start echoing back more and more shit that will simultaneously freak him out more and possibly make him enough of an asshole IRL that he will actually face consequences for his actions. And I guess without that he would just. Continue to be a pretty quiet bookworm, graduate with honors, and then get a job with a local non-profit while his dad nags him about not getting a well-paying enough job or something.
What CR have you had with either of your characters that has come as the hugest surprise to you?
no subject
With Anthony the short answer is "just about all of it", as fussing over getting much solid CR with characters from seldom-seem canons is probably an inevitability, but as I was expecting by default for most of his CR to be with other characters around his age since he'd have been in more of a position to regularly interact with them until forced to keep a low profile, I've been surprised giddily by some of his CR with adults - biggest factor of surprise I expect is in the fact that I've gotten to play him off four of our game's really splendid OCs, and the entire situation with John Mitchell was one enormous surprise - that John became his not-guardian for example was not planned at all, with Mini and Airdra having respectively posed Alex and Hajime as tentative prospects there prior, and now ooh dear it's my favorite bit of CR with Anthony.
What are your favorite scenes/moments in canon concerning each of your characters?

Uhhhh I don't think so. It gives him a very different perspective, but I don't think he particularly feels any less sad in that sort of situation than the average person. For one thing, the show has established that not all those who die become ghosts. What's the criteria to becoming a ghost? No idea. But death is not a guarantee that you will be in the afterlife. So if someone does die, Danny doesn't know if they'll come back as a ghost or not. They could very well be gone forever, despite all the paranormal possibilities.
Also, I don't think ghosts are the same as the people they used to be. This is getting into headcanon territory (although the headcanon makes a strong case and has nothing to disprove it), but I think ghosts do have obsessions with something. Like, a lot of ghosts are absorbed by something to an extent that you just never find in real life. The Box Ghost is absolutely nuts for boxes. Skulker is obsessed with hunting, Desiree with granting wishes even when she doesn't want to...on and on. So even if a person does come back as a ghost, they might come back with an unnatural obsession about something that might commandeer everything they do, which could lead them to do some pretty atrocious, destructive things.
But ghosts can still have happy (after)lives--Danny's seen it plenty of times. So I guess he might be more at peace with the fact that if a person dies, there's a chance they'll come back and still be pretty content? Or they could just become the worst ghost he's ever had to fight.
Next question. Did StE!Roxy ever want siblings? If so, what kind (how many, age, gender, etc.)?

and an older sister would have helped to curtail her drinking habits and lonelinesswhat did danny think of all his parents' conspiracy theories when he was young? did he believe them completely and later figure out that they were bugfuck insane, or has he always known his parents' theories were off-the-wall?

Long version: It's not a particularly groundbreaking story, the whole "secret teen hero" thing. But it executes the premise extremely well. It's a great coming of age story as told through typical superhero conventions, with a well-developed and complex set of characters who have complex relationships with each other, all of whom develop through the story, for better or for worse. The plot is simultaneously easy to follow but also full of complex schemes and set-up. And one of my favorite things about the story is that there are consequences for people's actions--often far-reaching ones that can't be easily solved but have to be worked through anyway.
I feel like I'm not doing it justice. 8C LOOK, IT'S JUST REALLY GOOD, OKAY
uhhhh so how did you get into kingdom hearts?
no subject
oh my god uh. ok, when i was twelve, i got my first REAL console, my ps2. when i was shopping around for games, i didn't want to get a game that would scare off my (REALLY CONSERVATIVE) parents, but i also wanted to get a game that i was genuinely interested in playing that still had all of the pretty animes i wanted to see on the tv. so i got kh a month or so after it came out! and, uh. i sort of got the game two weeks before i actually got my system? so i reread the manual over and over again until i was so hyped to play that i played it for 7 hours straight when i first got the console. and that was a month before i got a memory card. so, uh, i got REALLY REALLY GOOD at the first three hours of kh. i still am! and that is my dumbshit love story with kh.
what's the main personality difference between regular danny and ste danny? are there any parts of his ste history or personality that you're really proud of?
no subject
UHHH but yes. The main difference is that StE!Danny is closer to early canon Danny than he is to Danny from the actual canon point he's taken from. StE!Danny is timid, awkward, unsure of himself, and lacks a great deal of confidence. He's always trying not to step on any toes and just wants to please everyone and keep things peaceful. The more everyone gets along, the more he can just keep his head down and stay out of trouble. If he ever does want or need to express something that could get him into trouble--like calling someone an asshole--he'll do it at home, muttering it under his breath while playing video games, because that is a safe situation to do that in. (canon Danny evolves way past this after a while and just doesn't give a fuck any more. He does what he wants, fuq da police.)
As for history I'm proud of...definitely the conspiracy theorist shtick. Not only is it fun to play, but I completely accidentally made a perfect parallel between his life as a ghost living with ghost hunters and his life as being involved in a conspiracy living with conspiracy theorists! Also, like two months after I apped him I realized that the Fentons are canonically conspiracy loonies. I did not even do that on purpose.
So what was the idea or uh. ~inspiration~ going from boy scout Sora to douchebag Skyler?
no subject
(you can do it danny! be more confident! yeah!!! and the parallel is really cool, i agree UuU)
Hmm... the reason why I wanted to do it is solely because I wanted to play Sora, but different. That's my only justification for changing him, tbh! As for the nature of the change itself... I was actually drawing a lot of inspiration from Sora's character arc from CoM and kind of from the first KH! If I wanted to play Skyler as the same kind of person Sora is as of current canon, he would have just moved to Locke City as an army brat who went to a lot of international schools and would be looking forward to another move in a year. Skyler's a proto-Sora from pre-KH with a decided lack of good friends. Sora's not all that complicated of a character, but the fact that he probably would have been a complete nobody from podunk nowhere if the Islands hadn't been destroyed is compounded upon again and again in the series. I'm just doing a variation on the theme, if you know what I mean!
I have kind of a long explanation for how I formulated Skyler, but uh... Basically, Sora isn't awesome! But his unlikely life made up of coincidences, being in the right place at the right time, having a particularly weird variation of non-life-threatening disassociation, and sheer luck made him awesome. If you took the same base person that Sora used to be - timid, simple, bland, kind of weak and suggestible, in love with his friends but also with being subpar, and with no real ambitions or goals or desire to have them - and gave him TERRIBLE FUCKING FRIENDS and a mildly neglectful home life, you get Skyler. uou It was kind of a no brainer after that.
Are there any castmates you'd really like for Danny or Jovan? Name me some and tell me why!
