[ Sona stares at him like a deer in the headlights for a really long moment. No. No she did not know that. After a moment she buries her face in one hand, then runs it through her hair with a sigh.

She shakes her head. ]

[ She looks pretty embarrassed, but nods... ]

Where do you live?

[ Sona hesitates for a minute, then has to slide her instrument's case off of her shoulder and pull out a notepad from a side pocket. She writes down an address that is... In walking distance! It's still in this kind of upper-class neighborhood, but it's maybe a two hour walk or so.

She holds the notepad out for him to read.]

Hmmm... that's not bad. But you don't really look like you're up for a long hike right now. Do you have any cash? We could call you a cab.

[ Another deer in the headlights look...... She was expecting to stick with her parents all night, so she didn't bring any money. Plus she never really thinks about things like calling cabs because... Talking on the phone is out of the question, for her.

She shakes her head again, and then scribbles on her notepad again: ]

I don't mind the walk, it'll be warm once I'm moving.

Well, if you're gonna walk it I should probably help you out. Especially lugging that thing around it's like painting a giant target on your back that says "Mug me!"

Tell that to the enterprising thieves I saw a few blocks down that were merrily unloading a TV into their car since they know the family is out. Didn't you know the rich neighborhoods and gated communities always get targeted during times like this? If they know you're gonna be gone and they know you have all the good stuff, why wouldn't they break in? Anyway it's not a big deal to me, I'm out exploring anyway.

[ This makes Sona kind of concerned for her own home... So now she wants to get home faster. ]

Do you know sign language? [ She doesn't expect him to, but if he does it means she doesn't have to write while walking. She's gotten pretty good at it, so it doesn't slow her down much anymore, but still. ]

That's alright. [ well then... She adjusts her case on her shoulder and starts walking. She's a little bit slow because she's focusing on writing and watching where she's going at the same time. ]

Yeah. I like to wander and explore the city. Especially when my uncle and his colleagues are at our place getting drunk.

My parents were drinking with their friends, too. That's why they couldn't take me home.
