was the romance angle added in or was that planned from the beginning?

In the beginning when I got this role, romance wasn't apart of the story. I think it was the excellent chemistry between Shou and Calista that gave way to the writers decision.

I mean really, what's cooler than the romance between a former mafia vampire and a bruiser AI?
