"Five Years Later..."

"Five Years Later..."

A Good/Bad Ending Meme

Happy First Anniversary, Save the Earth.

Let us celebrate by speculating on where our characters might be in another few anniversaries - pick one or both of the below and do a little babble/blurb - and from there, o' course, freely springboard off of others... or play/thread in the hypothetical scenarios, if you'd like.

Good Ending
Congratulations, Numbers Club - you've fended off the supposed invasion, after a global chase and monster attack and pseudo-political fight one after the other! With the last of the Enemy fleeing and your lot as Earth's heroes, you've got no need to hide yourself any longer - and look how much you've grown in all that time! What have you been up to - and now that you've saved the world, what will you do next?

Bad Ending
...Or you've failed to do any such thing. The alien invasion has succeeded and swarmed over the world. They've overtaken humanity, and the Noble Numbered might be desperately putting up a last-stand defense, hiding their heads, giving in, or on the edge after a string of failures - on a case by case basis. Everyone is bound to react to the apocalypse - and failure to Save the Earth - in different ways.

Bad End

Reimu had also been one of the first targets, but unlike Marisa she'd managed to avoid being killed somehow and had gone on to keep fighting in the years since. She might have been the one to leave that broomstick there. If she had, then it was one of the only outward signs of how upset she'd been about it. She'd been on the other side of town when Marisa's last stand took place and had been too busy with her own problems to help her, and sometimes she regretted that, even though she knew it's pointless to dwell on what could've been and she had no way of knowing how much it would've helped anyway.

Even now, with the whole city in ruins and few people left living here, every now and then, if she was in the area, Reimu would take a break from fighting to come back to that crater, and sit down next to that broomstick for a few hours, as she was doing now. Since almost nothing went near here nowadays, it was a nice place to think at least.

Acting as if she just happened to choose this spot, she sat down with a wary sigh, and just looked out at the rubble around her, not saying anything for several minutes. She'd brought a bottle of sake with her, scavenged from who knows where and a cup for it, which she poured it out into, before taking a quiet sip she as continued to survey her surroundings.

"... This is one of the few places I can drink in peace anymore, you know." She grumbled to no one in particular. "It's so boring to drink by yourself though..."
