LET'S [test] DRIVING

IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN, YOU KNOW THE DRILL. Here's a few options, all stolen shamelessly from previous iterations.
> The Park. Man, what a nice day out. Why not enjoy it? I'm sure -- shit, yep, there's some echo monsters or whatever they're called.
> The Mall. Exactly what it says on the tin! Dodge the hordes of teenage mallrats or take part, whichever suits your tastes.
> Rainy Day. Agh, it's fucking awful out. And is it raining those vermilion things?? Now you've got an Echo to contend with on top of everything else. Find some shelter, quick!
> Arts and Crafts Fair. WILL THE KITSCH OVERWHELM YOU
or make up your own whatever this is basic and just for the purposes of getting a new test drive up.

And by then any would be volunteers have fled for cover.
SO instead he has put on his best smile, though there's still much of that burning passion flickering in his fierce blue eyes. Will you take a pamphlet? ]
yes yes yes
What the hell? Have a dude in shades approaching and tossing a little flick of a wave.]
Hey. What organization are you with?
[he isn't sure if he knows or recognizes this guy or not--at least not by sight--he runs into so many people in this scene. but still, he's clearly interested.]

In short; I'm a representative from Activate Morality in Institutions and Society.

Gotta work from the ground up, right? "We want no condescending saviors to rule us from their judgement hall", as it goes...
[hm. he runs into a lot of people but. there's a sense of vague familiarity here. not echo-y deja vu, just...hmmmm.]
Sorry - have we met?
no subject
What're these for?
no subject
I'm handing out pamphlets on behalf of the Activate Morality in Institutions and Society group. We're a club with the local university, however you don't have to be a student there to better yourself and get involved. [ Don't worry, he has enough burning passion to go around. ]
Right now we're looking for volunteers- we have a rally coming up to protest Bill 1178, the approval of which would allow the "therapeutic" treatment of homosexuality in minors. Children- who are still struggling to find themselves and who they are being indoctrinated to believe that as a person they are wrong to want to know; the measures of which could cause irreparable psychological damage. [ Someone's voice may have risen just a little bit in fury, there. But only a little. ]

It is good to see someone else with so much enthusiasm.

it's only polite to take one, isn't it? clearing his throat once, he takes a pamphlet from the man, haphazardly flipping through it; taking note of some of the more... extremist idealism. ] You're looking for volunteers, then?
[ a tilt of his head, as he shoves the pamphlet away into the messenger bag slung over his side. the crunching sound as the paper folds is too loud in his own ears, and he barely suppresses a wince. ]
I'm Marius.

When Marius almost bumps into him, he turns. Scrutinizes the other with blue eyes that narrow just slightly. But he softens himself, or at least he tries. Though there's still a sharp edge to his expression. Maybe it's just something that couldn't be helped. ]
Always. To create change, one first has to expose the issues. And to do that, it has to start in the hearts of the people. Which as you can no doubt guess, requires a street presence.
[ Is this the part where he's supposed to say his name back? Yes? Well, he doesn't.
Woops. ]
i don't know if you're still doing this but HERE GOES
That had been, probably, a mistake.
He takes the pamphlet from the man - god, his expression is all seriousness and dedication and fire - and turns his head down to read it. After a moment, he cracks a grin.]
And what, exactly, is a piece of paper supposed to do about any of this?
ALWAYS i'm just the slowest ever. eeee grantaire
A piece of paper- nothing. It's just a piece of paper; but everything is "just" a simplicity, or an idea until a person gives it breath and life. That simple "piece of paper" is an idea, and a dozen voices crying out to be heard. You can't start a movement without the people, and you can't rally the people without offering the information. What it is then, supposed to do is offer information. Plant the seed, so that the blossoming of change can take root.
no subject
Hmmmmm. [He draws the syllable out, looking down again at the flyer.] The only voice I hear is you. Have you had any success with these papers? Anybody willing to become this mystical "People"? [He enunciates that last word, as if he's trying to verbally indicate that capital "p".]
no subject
I've had sign-ups for volunteers. So yes, I would say I have had success. [ It takes him a hell of a lot of effort not to snap these words. Really, the other should be applauding him. ]
no subject
In that case, I might have to come by these meetings of yours and see the poor souls first-hand. What, exactly, are your goals?
Porrim/Pia || Homestuck
She gets to her feet, brushing the dirt off her exceptionally chic ensemble, before trotting over to him, a winning smile on her face.]
