shabadoobie touch to [TEST DRIVE]

HERE WE GO AGAIIIIIN

Here's a few options, ganked from the last one and still as shamelessly stolen from even earlier versions.

> The Park. Man, what a nice day out. Why not enjoy it? I'm sure -- shit, yep, there's some echo monsters or whatever they're called.
> The Mall. Exactly what it says on the tin! Dodge the hordes of teenage mallrats or take part, whichever suits your tastes.
> Rainy Day. Agh, it's fucking awful out. And is it raining those vermilion things?? Now you've got an Echo to contend with on top of everything else. Find some shelter, quick!
> Arts and Crafts Fair. WILL THE KITSCH OVERWHELM YOU
> Or make up your own

Very nice! Test Strike! FABULOUS!

[Option 1: The Mall]

 photo Annoyed-Artisticfox.jpg

[A roughly-dressed teenage girl is attempting to work her way through the crowds - right, it was back to school sale season, so the preppies and such were all trying to spend hundreds of dollars on new fashions.

Britany viewed them with disdain, of course. $100 for a pair of pants that was $4 used at a thrift shop? Who would honestly burn that money when it could go to miniatures, or a better phone, or games, or... Any of a thousand other things that weren't priced at "rip-off" rates.

Of course, the fact that she had to keep all of her purchases in a locker at the teen club in the mall right now didn't encourage her. She was "between homes" again as far as the foster care system was concerned, and that meant very little space where she was staying. Never mind what she was going to do once she was too old to go there.

As she slipped past one crowd towards the local hole-in-the-wall game store - no way she was hitting the national chain unless the exclusives were good - she could be heard muttering something.]

Stupid tourists....

[Option 2: Internet Shenanigans!]

HAH! Another noob bites the dust!

[The local comic/gaming shop staple: Britany Ruff at one of the play tables, ratty old laptop and mouse out, grinning like a maniac as she moved one step closer to victory in her latest PvP match in one or another MMO.]

Those idiots had better get to the flag ramp before respawns. I'm not seeing a quad-kill get wasted again.

[... Especially not when she only had, probably, twenty more minutes before she had to get ready for a different sort of game.]

[Winter, admittedly, was here for the sales too, but not for quite the same products - she wouldn't be caught dead in the trendy stuff, it'd draw attention. And that'd be bad. So as she casually ignores the crowd heading into Abercrombie, she notices the girl that looks... perhaps not out of place, but certainly seems a little different from what should be here. She's just close enough to hear her mutter, and with a thought, she pulls her department store bag closer to herself and tries to slide closer.]

Something... wrong?

... Huh?

[Rita turns towards the girl]

What'd you say?
peacefulwinter: (Is that what you think?)

[personal profile] peacefulwinter 2013-10-17 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
I a-asked if everything was okay. You... seemed frustrated, I guess.

[Well, the little girl's not angry... success so far?]
blastiaobsessieanonymous: (Sigh...)

There's too many people this month. There always is, but it's still annoying as hell if you just want to go play games at the teen club or something.

Never mind that you get the real jerks there then, too.
peacefulwinter: (Okay?)

[personal profile] peacefulwinter 2013-10-17 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah... well. That's n-not surprising. Around this time of year... everything's cheap enough that everyone w-wants to shop. Even me, and I h-hate shopping normally. [She lifts the bag in her hands a little for emphasis.]

And it does bring the j-jerks out, too. [Unbidden, a certain white-haired boy's face comes to mind; shaking her head, she forces it out.]

Yeah. I have to have a lock on my locker at the club pretty much only for these two weeks of the year. And one time, someone tried to pickpocket the key.

It was fun watching security grab him for that one.
peacefulwinter: (Are you sure about this?)

[personal profile] peacefulwinter 2013-10-18 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Winter winces; that sounds unpleasant.]

Do you keep anything v-valuable in that locker? Especially... where people can see it?
blastiaobsessieanonymous: (Sigh...)

[personal profile] blastiaobsessieanonymous 2013-10-18 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have a lot of choice right now. Not until the next foster home, at least.
peacefulwinter: (I have reservations about this...)

[personal profile] peacefulwinter 2013-10-18 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... s-sorry. That was a little insensitive, I guess. I w-won't ask what happened, but... are you okay for now? [She couldn't claim to have any idea how the foster system worked around here; was this girl eating? Sleeping somewhere relatively safe? Or was she out on the street somewhere?]
blastiaobsessieanonymous: (Neutral)

[personal profile] blastiaobsessieanonymous 2013-10-18 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Eh. I'll be fine. I'm used to this kinda crap by now.
peacefulwinter: (This is awkward.)

[personal profile] peacefulwinter 2013-10-19 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
If you're s-sure... um. Sorry, I'm b-being nosy.
blastiaobsessieanonymous: (Sigh...)

[personal profile] blastiaobsessieanonymous 2013-10-19 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Meh. At least you're not causing any trouble.

I feel sorry for mall security on days like this.
