[The world's least favorite medical examiner was walking out of the police station, having both just gotten off his shift and hand-delivered several thoroughly detailed autopsy reports.]

[Maybe a little too detailed. But Dr. Balfour certainly seemed to cover all the bases as far as working with corpses was concerned. Although his sardonic conversational skills were even more cutting than any scalpel he might have owned, it was hard for most to admit he was just as good at his job as he was at being kind of a jerk.]

[Then again, it would be hard to tell he was particularly cold or sarcastic on sight; he seemed to constantly wear a smile that didn't quite reach as far as his eyes. Today as he left the station, Jade opened a simple black umbrella and started to walk down the rainy street, whistling casually as he did.]

[What a weird guy.]

Grace has always kind of hated the rain - found it depressing, inconvenient, and all in all yet another inconvenience on top of the series of inconveniences that made up her life. At least today she had her umbrella.

Unfortunately, today she was also being stalked by some kind of demon cat. She'd been trying to get rid of the thing for two minutes, which was long enough for her to figure out it was neither rabid nor going to run off when whacked repeatedly with an umbrella. It probably had something to do with that weird lump on its head, maybe.

At any rate, it was getting pretty embarrassing for a woman who worked out as regularly as she did to start losing a fight with a feral cat but that's where things were headed, and the sudden throbbing headache wasn't helping...

...well, it wasn't appearing to help, although suddenly the apparently-possessed cat wasn't there anymore. It had quite suddenly flown into the building at the end of the alleyway and just sort of splattered. Grace looked down at her extended left hand and wondered what the hell had just happened.

[The place: Sam's apartment. The time: Late Evening. The dungeon master is setting up his box of miniatures, battle mat, dice, DM screen, and source books. The apartment is small and cramped, but he runs a good dungeon.]

Alright. Alright guys shut up, lets get things moving. Now, last time you all leveled up after defeating the queen of the blade sorceresses. Did everyone actually update their character sheets this time?

[The place: The mall. The time: Mid-afternoon. Something has gone horribly, horribly wrong. Maybe Vermidi are acting unusually boldly, maybe some reincarnates have gone rogue. Maybe it's just a totally mundane accident. Whatever the cause, people are running and screaming and panicking. But not Sam.

Sam looks...invigorated. He looks down at his hand, then clenches it into a fist.]

[All Mai had wanted to do was use her one free day of the week to come to the mall and maybe, possibly pull together enough money to buy some new jeans. The ones she had were slowly growing threadbare and she vaguely hoped she'd trip into a good sale.

All she's managed to trip into though is about a half dozen other people with seemingly the same idea. She's jostled this way and that, a constant litany of 'excuse me' and 'hey watch it! until she finally has enough.

Throwing her hands up in the air in the middle of the crowded plaza, she literally screams out:]

STOP PUSHING ME AROUND ALREADY!

So first her car breaks down. Not a big deal, right? Except it's late. And raining. But after a quick dig through her purse she discovers that... her phone is dead.

Awesome.

Not that that stops her from getting out of the car. Most people keep an umbrella in their car, right? Right. Thirty seconds out of the car a gust of wind turns the umbrella inside out and rips it out of her hands.

So Kloe is left frantically chasing her wild umbrella down the street, shouting curses as she goes.]

He didn't know what the commotion was about until an umbrella knocked in to his legs. With a small glance downwards, he moves to pick up the item before it can get away.]
