Catch the snatcher or rough them up - you may or may not be surprised, if you come to blows or a chase, to find on throwing a punch that they're much quicker and/or sturdier than you'd have expected. [ From his screen, Alexi appears to be trying to get a closer look at the gun, leaning in more toward the screen and squinting his eyes a bit. After a moment or two, he shakes his head. ]

Nope. I can definitely say I've never seen anything like that. Maybe some kid dropped it. Where'd you find it?

I didn't find it; I have been making it.

[He frowns at the gun, the memory of how it was put together still fresh in his mind and a little annoyed that he was pausing his work to even talk to these strange number people.]

[ Alexi's eyes blink rapidly, taking in the rather complex weapon. He can't even begin to guess how something like that is put together. It looks straight out of a sci-fi movie. He can't prevent the incredulity from slipping into the tone he's tried to keep even. ]

You made that? How long did that take you? And you don't remember what it's for?

Yes, I made it. [he's just going to make a face a little because it does look weird and strange and not something that comes out of an IKEA catalog.]

A couple of days and I have no idea why I needed to make it.

[ Joji's bothered reaction makes him wonder if it's worth taking a slightly bolder approach. Even if the answer's weird, it's still better than no answer at all. He pauses before scratching at the back of his neck and suggesting in a more hesitant tone: ]

Maybe it's a sign? You know. That you're one of... them? Those guys with special powers.

[ Joji just sort of stares for a moment and then sets the gun down and pinches the bridge of his nose. ]

Considering that this is my wall and you're talking to me through it, I would guess that we are both part of it.

[ Surprise fills Alexi's eyes. Could someone as messed up as he is really be someone special? Is that why he has so many problems? And what sort of abilities would someone with his sort of issues have anyway? ]

Seriously? You're sure it's not just some uh residual effect?

I would think so if it was just me babbling at a wall, but I wrote a number on it and here you are, talking to me.

Huh. I haven't managed to do anything special yet... Definitely not building my own super gun. That's what that is, right? A gun?

[ he turns it over in his hands, sliding it open though it did nothing yet. there looks like a large portion of the gun still needed work. ]

There's no way to get a bullet in this thing.

[ He tries to lean in again. ]

Think maybe it users lasers or something? Where would you even get the stuff for lasers?

[ he puts the gun down and picks up the card, turning it over in his hand for a moment. ]

No... it's not lasers that it fires. It's something more.

[ Alexi looks completely baffled. ]

There's something stronger than lasers?

No... it's part of something better than lasers. Lasers are easy to make. You just need...

[ and that flash of memory has him say something in a strange, almost guttural language. ]

[ Cue more confused blinking... ]

Uh could you try that again... I didn't catch that, sorry.

[ Joji makes a face; english is just not designed for the concepts that are in his head. ]

It doesn't translate, sorry.

[ Alexi's face takes on a sheepish expression. ]

Don't sweat it. It's fine. Um do you know where to find the... thing?

I think... I can build it.

You can build that too?

I'm not sure...

[he starts playing with the gun again, frowning a little.]

But it feels like it's pretty simple.

[ Complex subjects have never been a particularly strength of Alexi's and looking at that weapon, he really can't see how anyone would call it simple. Hell, he had to have a friend help him set up a computer. ]
