Christobel is probably one of the most important people in Elian's life right now, if not the most. He's always valued family highly (at least those he still speaks with), and the fact that she's in danger doesn't sit well with him. The fact that he is, too, only means so much; for better or for worse, he wants/needs to be by her side in all of this, as much as he can.

Not to say he won't smack her across the back of her head if she's being a complete idiot about something. But he supports her in whatever she does, however he may seem about it.
