[A few blocks away from the local high school, there's a kind of sickly looking boy walking slowly up and down the street, holding a bucket. After reaching a certain point, he bends down and takes something out of the bucket and starts rubbing it on the sidewalk. Upon further observation, you'll find that the majority of this street's sidewalk has already been covered in his chalk art. Colorful swirls and twists dance and intertwine all down the block, making shapes in cute little animals and spooky ghosts.

Chances are if you're on your way home, this nerd is in your way. Do you yell at him? Bump into him? Stamp all over his hard work? Marvel at it?

It's only taken three hours, but I'm almost at the end of the street...

...Well, if you really want to skip school to draw on sidewalks instead, I guess I can't really blame you there.

[Shakes his head.]

I don't go to normal school. I take online classes, so I'm able to go at my own pace instead of doing schoolwork from 8 to 3...

Oh! I haven't drawn on the sidewalk in a long time, usually I just draw in my sketchpad...

[He goes ahead and crouches down to get a better look.]

...Huh. I guess I never really thought about just how much you can do with chalk.

[Well guess who's on her way home from school...]

Haruka, what do you think you're doing?

Takane! [He lights up instantly because FRIEND. He throws his arms out at his sides energentically.]

It's sidewalk chalk! I wanted to try something different today! It's coming together pretty well, don't you think?

[She gives it a good lookover with a sigh.]

You know it's just going to get washed away or smudged up, don't you?

[Frowny face.] If you're a pessimist...

I like to think the transiance makes it special..

It does look pretty good, but it seems like a waste to me.

[Well at least he got a compliment.]

Thank you! I think I'd rather it be out here for everyone to see for a few hours than sit in my sketch book forever and be forgotten about anyway...

Plus, look at this bunny! [pointing to a pink bunny he drew] Isn't it cute?

[Shin is definitely on his way home, and in fact he's on his way home with a large box in his arms! Which means he can't exactly see where he is going. Nor does he expect there to be an entire human being in his way with a bucket of chalk. He, at least, doesn't trip over the poor sickie but he does, in fact, see him at last minute and tries to swerve around him, tripping over his own feet and spinning, falling, onto his butt with a surprised yelp as the cardboard props from the upcoming school event he was helping set up for go falling out of the box upon impact with the ground.

But his first concern is! the boy!! he almost walked over!!! He immediately scrambles over and --]

H-hey! Sorry, are you okay?!

[drawitagain]

[Haruka blinks, kind of dumbfounded. He was so absorbed in his art that he almost didn't notice the boy tripping in front of him. Haruka offers a sympathetic smile.]

I'm fine...I also wasn't the one who tripped, though. [Getting up to his feet.]

Your stuff is going to get all ruined...Let me help you pick it up...[Moving sluggishly, he goes to help pick up the props.]

Huh? Oh, yeah. [He gets to his feet after the stranger, looking him over to make sure he isn't injured. He notices the slow way the other boy moves, but he catches up to him without a word about it.]

Thanks -- they'll be fine I think, but I definitely don't want a car coming up with them on the street like that.

[Collecting them slowly, but with a big smile on his face.]

I was in your way, wasn't I?

Sorry about that! [He laughs.]

I'm pretty sure the artist is the one who's supposed to suffer for the art, not passerbys...

Well... only because I couldn't see where I was going, really. Here. [He grabs the box and puts it near Haruka so he could put whatever he picks up inside it easier.]

What were you working on? If you don't mind me asking.

It's just...a mural. Sort of.

I wanted to make the sidewalk nice and colorful for when the highschool kids were walking home but I didn't quite finish in time...

I hope they'll still appreciate it tomorrow when it's finished!
