[It might seem strange that Luci would know that shriek from a mile away--or, in this case, about 100 yards--but the blond immediately recognized it and, already walking in the opposite direction, breaks into a jog toward the sound. Reaching her, she looks alarmed, looking from her friend, to the fallen umbrella, back to Harper.]

Harper, what's wrong? I heard you scream. Are you okay? You aren't hurt are you?

L-L-L-Luci! Look! [ She points animatedly. Soaking wet and shaking like a leaf, Harper regards the creature in front of her with some mixture of affront and terror. Which is silly because it's just a soggy wet furball with big white eyes. And it's not doing much of anything offensive, besides existing in her general vicinity.

It wobbles a little more and Harper presses her mouth into a thin line, emitting a high pitched whine. ]

What is that thing? It's gross!

[Harper was a girl that could fly off the handle when she got overly worked up, so Luci took it in stride, trying to calm her friend.

What was that, anyway? Some kind of weird stuffed animal?]

It looks like some little kid's toy. I'm sure it's fine.

No, it's definitely alive! Don't you see it looking at us? [ EEP ] Ahh, it just moved again, watch!

[ Harper latches onto Luci's elbow and shuffles her forward to face it down for her. No one said her overactive imagination ever made her any braver. She wrinkles her nose. ]
