Questions Meme
This is a meme in which you TALK FOREVER. How it goes:
1. Make a thread for yourself in this post, listing the characters you play and your own name.
2. Go find someone's thread to jump and ask them A QUESTION. The question can be anything, RP related is common, of course, but not necessary. Who do you want to app most? What does Character A think about Character B? What's your favorite flavor of icecream?
3. Answer all questions asked of you! Once you have answered, end your response with a question for the person who first questioned you. This is important to keep the discussion going and going.
4. This goes back and forth indefinitely until someone gets tired and can't reply anymore.
5. Have a lot of fun! ♥
This game is a fun way to get to talk to people, headcanon, and learn things you didn't know before! Because it involves gives and take, it can go quite a while and everyone can participate and possibly make friends.
Here is an example.

Have you ended up writing things with Alex that you wouldn't have expected when you apped him? Unexpected character traits or convictions, that kind of thing?

Alex has come out very opinionated about some things that neither Ax nor I have strong opinions about! He's really offended by genre mixing, for one thing, so Locke City becoming this mishmash of supernatural creatures, aliens and robots, and things that just shouldn't fit in the same world all together is driving him nuts, because he can't really come up with a theory that makes them all fit. He's also an Inspector Spacetime fan, even though I'm almost totally Dr. Who canonblind. I tend to like fantasy or softer SF, but I figure he would like hard SF, both because of his past life and because he's more literal-minded than most people. He likes the technical details and theoretical science, and I decided when I apped him that he would have a fascination with spaceships and aliens.
OK, I know next to nothing about Hatoful Boyfriend, hmm. Have you run into anything unexpected in taking a game character and making him part of a setting that's closer to the real world?
no subject
Hmm... HB isn't that far from the real world. At least the parts connected to Yuuya aren't. ...well, okay, yes, uplifted birds, but once you get past that! There are politics regarding the treatment of humans. There is classism and ablism. You have dysfunctional families and complex, flawed love, you have atonement and hopes for the future, you have people who seem at first to fit a stereotype but are much more complicated than that... Most of the characters feel very real, and the setting's not focused on as deeply, but it feels real and solid to me. It looks like a crack game, most of the characters look like crack characters, but it's pretty easy to work with.
I guess the biggest thing might be that in the games Yuuya can hint at something then dissemble and withdraw it and it won't come up again for (in-game) months, while here it's just as likely someone will keep at it.
Hee. Okay - if you weren't playing Ax, who else from Animorphs? Or other canons?
no subject
I know I'd probably like Dr. Who, but it's a daunting canon to get into!
I don't feel strongly attracted, RP-wise, to anyone else from Animorphs. I didn't read the books until I was already a grownup, and I read them because I played with an amazing Elfangor and wanted to know more about that character. Once I got to Ax, he totally clicked with me--I immediately knew I wanted to play him. The two other characters that's happened with are Mello from Death Note and The Ψiioniic from Homestuck, and I play both of them in another game. I've tried Kaylee from Firefly, but she's so good and cheerful, and I just can't sustain that long-term.
Is there anyone else you have played or would like to try?
no subject
Oh, man, don't I know it! I was into the 2005-onwards series for a while - "The Eleventh Hour" was my starting point and pretty good for that - but eventually it stopped really appealing to me, so I drifted away.
The two characters I jokingly called my "heartsong" are Luke Skywalker, you can guess where he's from, and Janine Farehouse, from Dinoverse. Luke is endlessly good and I feel... kinder when I play him, but he's exhausting too. Janine feels very like me except more irritable and independent and a giant pterosaur. I haven't played either in a while and I miss them. But I don't think I could play them that well in StE. I've daydreamed about taking Miranda Fallow here, from Dr. Franklin's Island. She'd start as a red-tailed hawk and become a bird monster that could become human-ish.
What's the most absurd thing you've ever done in RP?
no subject
Haha, I was recently reminded in that "first impressions" meme on Plurk that I used to play a crazily AU version of Near (Death Note, again; I'm not sure why I've stuck with it so long, except that the characters start so fucked up that if you put them in games, they have a good long way to go to become well-adjusted, so they sort of reward commitment?). He was god in his universe, and wore a nametag that said so.
Is RP your only writing-related hobby? Any original stuff or fic?
no subject
I write some fic. Used to write more often, not it's really just if an idea seizes on me. I also used to write more original fiction, and now... less still, haha.
Do you have interesting morphing-power related plans? Is the blue cube itself ever going to be a regain?
no subject
Funnily enough, the Elfangor I played with had the Escafil device, and my character in that game ended up getting morphing abilities in an incident I almost mentioned as the silliest thing I've RPed. It was totally spur of the moment, but had some cool consequences. I'm not sure something that can bestow powers like that would be allowed, but it'd sure be interesting! I don't have immediate plans for it, though. The next big thing I plan to throw at Alex is resetting his "real" body to Andalite, so the rules of morphing will come into effect.
Are there any upcoming Echoes you're really excited about doing?
no subject
Julien is at the point now where he's basically a bird that happens to have a human muscoskeletal structure. I want to finally get to the point of making him look like a bird - the point where he gets feathers and kind of has a meltdown. He's resilient and has stayed positive so far, but we all have a breaking point.
Have you ever thought of weird alternate-versions of Alex - like starting him off as a soldier or a deer or something else?
