Questions Meme
This is a meme in which you TALK FOREVER. How it goes:
1. Make a thread for yourself in this post, listing the characters you play and your own name.
2. Go find someone's thread to jump and ask them A QUESTION. The question can be anything, RP related is common, of course, but not necessary. Who do you want to app most? What does Character A think about Character B? What's your favorite flavor of icecream?
3. Answer all questions asked of you! Once you have answered, end your response with a question for the person who first questioned you. This is important to keep the discussion going and going.
4. This goes back and forth indefinitely until someone gets tired and can't reply anymore.
5. Have a lot of fun! ♥
This game is a fun way to get to talk to people, headcanon, and learn things you didn't know before! Because it involves gives and take, it can go quite a while and everyone can participate and possibly make friends.
Here is an example.

(unrelatedly, his kid's name is kairi in this life, he should mention it and cause echoage, y/n)
ANYWAY as for the actual question, my initial plan with STE!Kotetsu was to mirror his home situation as seen in ep 1 of T&B, tension with his daughter and all. AND THEN i decided that would be boring, lol, but it was also more convenient for plot mobility to have him not living with his daughter and i wanted to keep the widower thing, so BASICALLY she got sent to live with his mother bc he realized after a couple months he wasn't really emotionally okay for raising a child at the time his wife died.
BUT he visits usually at least once a year, they call/skype all the time, and sometimes she comes to visit him too, and they are generally a lot closer and less awkward than he is with Kaede in canon |D

OKAY here goes, what effect does being the middle child have on Skyler? is it part of why he's kind of a punk teenager rn?

(YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS. cue skyler being confused, IS THE OTHER GUY IN LOVE WITH YOUR DAUGHTER OR WAHT)
:( Kotetsu's self esteem must be really getting a pounding... Don't worry Kotetsu you can be the responsible parent you were meant to be all along!! I believe in you!!
oh jesus haha you kind of hit that nail on the head! Ok, sparknotes version: yes, that definitely has to do with it! His family had been middle class before the economy popped back in 06-ish, but when it did, both of his parents lost their jobs and suddenly had to be out a whole lot trying to find jobs and working several low wage jobs to make ends meet. This left him (10 at the time), Milo (13), and Ari (5) on their own most of the time. Milo was technically the boss, but he's really introverted and aloof, which Skyler translated as being... not really being a caring person at all? So the way he sees it, it was just him and Ari trying to get to school and getting their shit together without their parents or anyone for a good five years plus. It's not as though they didn't have enough money, they just never got to see their parents as a result.
The problem is that Skyler is a huge attention whore. Like, seriously, it's pretty bad, he's needling reaaally close to what would probably be diagnosable codependency. He actually got pretty jealous of Ari when they were growing up because Mom Veracruz would treat her like royalty, but he got a good dressing down by Mom one day during the first days of the great five year parental absence which ended with her telling him to take care of Ari, and he came to realize that Ari's a pretty cool kid. But even before the event, he was always the type to seek a LOT of attention, but never got it because he was the middle child and Milo wasn't ever interested in competing with him in any way. (I feel like competition is a lot of what motivates Sora! Without Riku, I don't think Sora would have had much impetus to make anything of himself.) He derailed classes like no other kid could, which kind of pinned him into the troublemaker category early. If the economy hadn't crashed, he probably would have mellowed out and been more like the Sora you and I know. Since his parents were gone all the time, though, and Milo was having difficulties showing that he cared about his two younger siblings, Skyler started trying to get his need for attention met by making a LOT of (honestly awful) friends and making a hell of a lot of trouble through middle and high school. It drove both of his parents CRAZY, and things kind of snowballed relationship-wise from there. Now that they've got their economic situation stabilized, Skyler is struggling to get used to the fact that his mom actually wants to be a part of his life (he sees her as pretty annoying and nosy) and that he doesn't actually have to struggle to find things to do now that his family is a little more stable.
ALL IN ALL yeah he's a pretty self-centered spoiled little fucker, but he's hasn't had any real role models and no one's ever expected anything out of him, which in turn makes him pretty hesitant to believe that he can make anything of himself. He knows he's kind of a wimpy gofer but as of current game canon he's trying to grow out of that so he doesn't get everyone in his family murdered by the police. :Db
(BONUS THING YOU DIDN'T ASK ME ABOUT BUT YOU'RE GETTING ANYWAY: Ari wanted to go to a local summer camp with all of her friends in middle school but they didn't have any money to spare, so Skyler got the bright idea to ask if he could be a camp volunteer in exchange for getting her fee waivered. It fucking worked and the kids loved him. fast forward to three years later, that's how he got his first job as a lifeguard for the local summer camp program. AND NOW YOU KNOOOOOW)
Two questions: WHY DID YOU NAME HER KAIRI and Where do you think you want to go with Kotetsu from here?
