TEST DRIVE MEME
> The Park. Man, what a nice day out. Why not enjoy it? I'm sure -- shit, yep, there's some echo monsters.
> The Mall. Exactly what it says on the tin! Dodge the hordes of teenage mallrats or take part, whichever suits your tastes.
> Rainy Day. Agh, it's fucking awful out. And is it raining those vermilion things?? Now you've got an Echo to contend with on top of everything else. Find some shelter, quick!
> PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, HOW FUN
> The most horribly kitschy Arts and Crafts Fair you can imagine.
> NEW YEARS. What better way to start out the new year than to learn that everything you know is a lie? Or if you are already acquainted with the network pass out some resolutions.
> A food fight has just broken out in the cafeteria. Join? Flee? The choice is yours alone.
> Wild Card! Make up your own.
but what if i wanna arrest you though
You know, I think you're the only person that says that.
[all weird pleasantries aside, Max glances around a little bit before leaning closer over the desk.]
I've been hearing some pretty weird rumors lately. And I don't man like the one about Sherman squatting to take a piss, I mean some real crazy stuff. Maybe you can clear some of it up for me, yeah?

Obviously I'm the only person who gets you.
[He raises one eyebrow - which turns briefly into a quick smile of amusement at that bit about Sherman, before he schools his expression back into an eyebrow raise. It's no secret around the station that Nick's been spending time with Sherman, he probably shouldn't appear too amused at that.
At the moment, he doesn't suspect anything directly network related. There's been a lot of weird rumors flying around lately, that even people not involved with the network have noticed.]
It better not be that crap about a zombie apocalypse going around, I'd think you'd be smart enough to clear that up yourself.

You probably don't, to be fair, but you are closer than most people.
[Max lowers his voice a bit, cheery little bastard smile never leaving his face]
Can't say I've heard that one yet. But no, I'm talking about the one where aliens are secretly running everything that goes on around here, and that your buddy Sherman is in cahoots with them. It's like something out of a bad movie, yeah?

[And then the tone from the odd banter fades, when Max says that. Nick's expression remains the same, and he doesn't move from his position, but his demeanor changes, from absent joking to slightly tense.
The average person probably wouldn't notice it, but Nick doubts it'll escape Max's notice.
There's likely only three ways that he could have find out about that - either from one of the corrupt cops, from a network member, or from the network itself. He isn't sure which one he's hoping for.]
How about we take an early lunch, and you can ask me about these rumors there? My treat.

Sounds like a plan to me.

He stands up, handing the helmet back over so he can shrug into his coat and start out.]
Come on, I'll drive.

Okay, okay. You're the boss.
