Another round of the CR/Plotting Meme with which to begin a new year!

As always, the meme's open for making arrangements with and between not only current but potential characters in StE; there will be a header under which to comment with potential characters - when doing so, please label with characters' reincarnated names (if decided!) and pre-incarnated names and canons in the comments' subject lines.

Character: Varric Tethras
Pre-Incarnation: A badass rogue dwarf with a fondness for storytelling and an equally badass crossbow, who is the main character companion of the main character in a video game about dragons and mages and templars.


Pre-Network CR Opportunities: Anyone in business, in high society, or involved in criminal activity! Varric's also been in Locke City pretty much his whole life, so anyone who's old enough and has been around long enough to maybe be high school or college friends?

Open/Wanted CR: Old friends, business rivals, people in the mob, past girlfriends!

Other Info: Varric is a mob boss, and I'd love to do more with that, either with people already currently in it, people being recruited, people who've been hit by them, shady business deals, anything like that!

Anything Else?: nope!

I definitely want to play out Varric and Dante finally meeting WHICH WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO PLAN FOR A WHILE BUT KEEPING THAT THERE ON THE TABLE. Probably a legit arranged meeting rather than an accidental encounter though :|a but that's pretty easy; Bernard could just be the one to have set it up, yes?

ME TOO I am so excited for that, man. We can definitely have an arranged meeting for them - as soon as Varric found out that his brother recruited him, he'd want one, so he'd definitely get Bernard to set one up! AND WHILE I REMEMBER, are you still cool with the stolen art thing that Dante got caught up with involving silver, so the nicknaming can begin? ...or possibly the first thing he does with them now that he's a recruit involving silver, either way

EITHER WAY WORKS FOR ME, right now I have it where Dante got into trouble due to transporting some art pieces, so probably not really an overwhelming amount of silver in there... we could totally have his first thing with them be silver though? BUT WHICHEVER!

Let's go with the first thing with them being silver! I like that idea better, actually, since the other way it'd probably end up being more "oh yeah that kid who helped us one time with the silver and I can't remember his name so silver it is." Whereas if it's the first thing he does with them and it goes well, the nickname can be an upgrade.

I definitely want these two to meet, especially as Gerald starts his investigation more in earnest ie as soon as I'm a little more acclimatized to the game.

I'd love that! Would you be interested in having them meet on the network first, and possibly not realize who each other are, even while the investigation is ongoing?

VARRIC WAS BORN IN LONDON RIGHT. We could say he at least knew of the Amell family since they're supposed to be loaded canonly you know until Gamlen spends it all and I kept that for the reincarnation, and if they were meandering around parties before they fled to the US their families might have known each other.

That'd give Varric an excuse to react to hearing someone from the Amell family moved to Locke city.

This is me, vaguely thinking up things because I want these two to be friends.

THIS WORKS FOR ME! It's definitely the kind of thing that Varric'd know, since he's huge on information and runs an international business.

Daylen'd probably also have heard of at least the Tethras family, since I also kept some of canon for his reincarnation. Papa Tethras was a minor nobleman and the family was extremely wealthy until he was caught embezzling a lot of money from the wrong people, and pretty much fled to the US.

Yes good they can have wry conversations about other families they were both involved with or something GOSSIP AND RUMOURS

If you like this means you can either i) have Varric curious about why the Amells shipped their only child to America so suddenly and pick at it or ii) have him actually know via investigation. I doubt it'd be something he'd bring up idly (he's got huntington's, was shipped out to be near research/trials because rich family throws money at problem news at 11), but if they become friends it might be something he picks at in concern eventually and I'm okay with that. (Its IC for Varric to be on top of things after all)

Business? Business! Jack here's a stockbroker and pretty settled in to his yet-to-be-named company. Maybe there could be a business connection of some sort? Someone's gotta manage the guy's stock portfolio...

Ooooh excellent, I like this idea! Jack could definitely be in charge of managing Varric's stocks, it'd give him one more level of legitimacy to hide behind! ..unless Jack's the kind of guy who'd do some shady managing

Jack is generally operating on the level. Not a huge risk-taker, at least when the feds could come and put a boot up your ass. He wouldn't have proposed it himself, at any rate, but could possibly be talked into something risky for some kind of appropriately worthwhile compensation. Especially once he gets an echo or two more back and starts thinking a bit more like his old self.
