And there was much complaining, but only in words; in actions he did everything as Thorir wanted in order to make him comfortable. Gabriel might not be a father or a grandfather himself, but he can understand paternal instinct. He remembers those lessons now as he takes the sleeping baby from his grandfather's hands carefully, supporting him. "I'm sure the girls would rather I didn't waste my talent on their brother."

"As long as that doesn't put it in their head to take after us." He's watched the world of modelling evolve from a relatively neutral though still kind-of insider point, and he does not deem it safe for any of his children. Or grandchildren. Especially for the girls among them.

He digs through the stroller for a moment and places a cloth over Gabriel's shoulder that he can use in case the kid wakes up and needs a different position. "I'll be back." And then he is gone, and will be gone for a bit. When him and the girls return almost twenty minutes later, both children are working their ways through a cone of ice cream while Thorir is holding two - one for himself and one for his friend. Sometimes he has soft moments, okay, shhh don't look.

He can take as long as he likes, Gabriel won't notice while he has Simon in his arms. With out Thorir there to call him out on it his expression changes to something sweet and doting, longing. He's never been in love (romantic love, anyway, he'd be the first to point out that he loves his friends) and would never want to force it, but he can't help think that he's missed his chance to be a father. Yes, people are having children later, and he could always adopt, but would a young child want a parent in his 60s? Gabriel has kept himself well, but time will catch up with him eventually.

But he forces it away when he spots Thorir returning, though he doesn't stop humming the lullaby that he started without really noticing. "Two ice creams? Isn't your grandpa greedy, girls?" He asks with a cheeky grin.

"Continue like that and you won't get any of it." He nods at a nearby bench. "Let's sit down?" That will also be the safest for the girl's clothes - if they are sitting down, they probably won't get too much of the food on their pants. Hopefully.

His own children would have had to sit down before starting to eat at that age, but he has promised to not go against the way in which Inger and her fiance raise the children, at least not behind their backs and definitely never in front of the children; and small things like those are a part of that.

Chuckling, Gabriel nods, shifting Simon carefully so that he's supported against his chest, freeing up a hand to push the buggy closer to the bench. Despite his teasing, he appreciates the thought, sitting down at the edge of the bench so that Thorir can sit next to his granddaughters. "What flavours do you have?" He asks them, leaning over to smile at them.

"Cookies!" The older twin answers for both of them. "And mint. what do you have?"

"Mint." Thorir hands the cone over. "I just went ahead and assumed that you still liked that."

"Someone's got good taste!" Gabriel smiles at them, accepting the cone from Thorir and shifting Simon into a safer position. The boy's still asleep and he doesn't want to wake him with a drip of ice cream.

"Thanks, mate." Well, Thorir can take that as a yes, as Gabriel accepts the cone. "Do you want Simon back?" ...Although maybe that would be best to wait until they have their hands free. It might be a bit tricky right now.

"I see no reason to." Friends and family, to him, are people whom he will trust unless he is given a good reason not to. Gabriel, all in all, has never done anything to lose that trust, and he certainly has no reason to not trust him to take good care of Símon, at least when it comes to things like holding him and carrying him around. "He looks quite comfortable."

Gabriel's more than happy to keep the boy, smiling down at him. "He seems to be sleeping pretty soundly." And then that smile is replaced by a smirk. "I hope that doesn't mean he's awake all night." Although he's sure that Thorir's room is far enough from his daughter's apartment that it shouldn't bother the other man, aside from to have to deal with a tired and grumpy daughter and not!son-in-law the next day.

He's still displeased by the whole not!son-in-law-ness of the lad, but he has had to grudgingly respect that they want to pay for at least their wedding themselves. Even if it will take them another five years.

At his friend's words, he shrugs, though. "He seems to enjoy midnight-meals right now, no matter how much or little sleep he has had." Which he only knows through stories, luckily -. the backhouse is far enough from the main apartment to not be woken by the baby.
