[That scream of terror is enough to get his attention, but Roy only barely registers who it is before she thuds straight into his chest, and his voice of recognition holds nothing short of utter surprise.]

Sophia?

[He reaches out, instinctively, to take her by the arms and steady her once he recognizes who it is. Roy has very rarely heard her shriek like that, if ever. It was a bit concerning.]

( she really is relieved to see him, casting a brief glance in the direction of the MURDEROUS TINYSPIDER crawling across the bench before looking back at him. )

There's a glance at her before following Sophia's gaze to the bench and then finally to our little arachnid friend.]

...Didn't know you were afraid of spiders. [He may sound slightly bewildered.]

( she sounds angrier than she really means to because this is really humiliating and in front of roy no less. )

[IT'S JUST A SURPRISE OKAY. Roy holds up his hands in submission at her vehement reaction.]

[Nature's blessed him with no fear of insects or arachnids, so he sidesteps past her and simply brushes the spider off the bench, scuffing it under the sole of his shoe. His hands are gloved anyway, so whatever.]

[It might be humiliating for Sophia, but Roy doesn't laugh, or even look amused in the slightest. He really is genuinely concerned, especially since she's so upset.]

( she flushes, though whether it's from embarrassment or roy being a knight in shining armor or victory over that fucking spider is unclear. )

( that's sounding pretty date-like, roy, not that she's complaining. she smiles and ducks her head for just a second before nodding. )
