"Bigger than most people seem to think." But it also houses a huge family of moderate wealth - neither wealth nor living area large enough to lose touch with the amount or inspire greed of the have-it-for-the-sake-of-having-it variety - and, if Thorir is honest with himself, the smithy is not only his way of remembering his grandfather. It, and the business attached, are not just an escape from the store that has so thoroughly turned into administration and retail instead of hands-on work with the hardware. It is also a quiet step towards being able to step out of the main business one day, when one of their children (or maybe a niece or nephew) decides to take over. A good number of them have earned some pocket money in it and he has made it known that he'd like to hand the business down inside the family one day, but he has decided long ago that he isn't his grandfather (or father). None of the children were specifically raised to take it over one day, even though he has his eye on a few of them - It's just not timely anymore.

He stands next to Mardís as his wife expertly examines each pieces, and then has a quick look at the sketches. A few words in Icelandic are exchanged between them, and then, while looking at a very solid necklace in that distinct semi-norse style that Killian specializes in, the woman laughs and lifts the necklace up to place it Thorir's head like a crown, winking at Killian. "Look at this, wouldn't he make a brilliant king?"

...The weight really shouldn't be enough to make Thorir as dizzy as he suddenly feels, and he reaches up to take it off as soon as he feels that he won't drop it, moving it to his wife's head instead. "Not as brilliant as you would make a queen. ...So?"

She laughs at that and after a quick peck to Thorir's cheek turns to Killian. "It's very nice work, you'll have to let me watch you while you make it." She starts to return the pieces and paper into the box. "Þórir really did not promise too much."

"A picture frame?" She takes it from Killian's hands but doesn't do anything with it yet, just turning it over twice before looking over at her husband. Thorir looks at his wrist for a moment, obviously checking the time, but whatever he saw doesn't make him speed up the process. ...and this time, he doesn't feel unwell either when she places the thing on his head, laughing softly at the view as she takes back a step to look at him.
