Test Drive Meme!
Scenarios:
> The Park. Man, what a nice day out. Why not enjoy it? I'm sure -- shit, yep, there's some echo monsters.
> The Mall. Exactly what it says on the tin! Dodge the hordes of teenage mallrats or take part, whichever suits your tastes.
> Rainy Day. Agh, it's fucking awful out. And is it raining those vermilion things?? Now you've got an Echo to contend with on top of everything else. Find some shelter, quick!
> PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. HOW FUN
> Arts and Crafts Fair. All the kitschy fun you can imagine.
> Wild Card! Make up your own.
Natalie Sherman | Naoto Shirogane | Persona 4
a - public transportation;
[You might see this small teenage girl sitting with her legs curled up under her, trying to read her Raymond Chandler book despite the crowding and noise on the train. She looks kind of annoyed, though. After a few minutes of this she gives up, snapping The Long Goodbye shut and stowing it in her bag before pushing her glasses up.]
This line isn't usually this congested...
[It's said to no one in particular, but the statement still hangs in the air.]
b - mall;
[Having gotten her hands on the book (and stupid toys and DIY electronic components...) she wanted, Nat proceeds to the food court. Ordering something from the Chinese restaurant, she looks down when her phone rings before answering it.]
It's me. ... Hi, Dad. I'm at the mall, I'll be home as soon as possible. How was work? [She nods.] With everything going on... I wondered if you'd heard from Uncle Jason. Has he said anything to you about work? The cases? [She keeps her tone light and casual, but her eyes are telling a different story.] Right. Police business. Next time you talk to him, tell him I said hello, won't you? Bye. [Nat shoves her phone back into her pocket, sitting down with her tray.]
b
And there is a familiar face! Sitting alone.
This is an opportunity for friendship with the cousin he hasn't visited in years! And probably the kind that comes without the weird voice in his head. He slides in across from her.]
Mind company?

Matt! [she smiles a little bit.]
Not at all. How are things?
no subject
Things are weird as hell, actually.]
Normal. Just got out of tutoring. Find anything good? [He's eyeing her bags curiously?]

See for yourself. [an omnibus of detective stories, a snazzy-looking watch with a hidden camera in it, a few spools of various sizes of solder, and electronic components. boards, resistors, LEDs, wire, etc.
there are also a couple of those embarrassing tryhard ~SPY GEAR~ toys in there. and maybe a Karate Bugman figure. Look, don't judge her.]

... Tracking devices.
no subject
What are you tracking? If it's for remote controls, you could make millions.
no subject
No, I had the idea from... a dream, I think. Transmitters coated in an adhesive putty. Attach them to a vehicle, possibly from a distance, and from there, depending on the strength of the transmitter... [Nat gestures to indicate a conclusion that she thinks should be obvious.]
no subject
boo, or, a
He looks down at her from where he's holding tight to the bar above his head. Can't hurt to talk to her, right?]
The last one was late. It'll probably be this busy until lunch.
no subject
It's always something causing problems, isn't it?
no subject
You're telling me. [He reaches up to shift the bag strap over his shoulder.]
Really wishing my car was out of the shop right now... this is the second time this week.
no subject
I don't even have that to fall back on. Honestly, this is what we pay for?
a
It isn't? You mean I won't be squished next time?
no subject
With any luck, anyway...

Oh can you tell me if this is the right way to get to Japantown? I tried asking this and that person at the station but they were um... big, and when a train came I just jumped in without thinking. You see, it seemed like the right train... but then everybody got in after me! What luck! So I thought it must be the right train, but what if everybody's not going the way I am? I didn't think of that until just now...
