[She's startled by someone steadying her, looking up at him. She smiles then as he lets go, giving a nod.]

Thank you, I'm alright. I didn't hurt you, did I? It's so crowded in here!

[Beleg smiles back and shakes his head, readjusting his camera backpack over his shoulder.]

No, you didn't. And yes, it's very crowded. To be honest though, I've seen worse.

Really? I can't imagine it being any worse, it must have been dreadful! [Not that she hasn't experienced her fair share of Japanese public transportation during rush hours for long periods of time herself, living in America has spoiled her already.]

Are you a photographer? [She asked curiously, indicating the camera bag over his shoulder.]

Tokyo comes to mind where they actually have conductors push you into a train if you don't make it on. Shanghai and Sao Pualo are also the top of that list. [Beckett usually drives and only rarely uses public transit in Locke.]

I am. I'm a photojournalist.

I've seen that happen! They can be really forceful sometimes. [She laughed softly. She switches to Japanese when she hears him mention Tokyo, where she happens to be from but makes sure not to speak too quickly.] You've visited Tokyo before? And that must be exciting work, I would be curious to see some of your pictures.

They are, aren't they? [Beckett's Japanese was rather elementary and it shows when he replies in halting and heavily accented Japanese.]

I have a few times. It is a lovely city and I quite enjoyed it. I keep a website where I showcase some of my work. [He digs into his jacket pocket for his wallet where he takes out a business card to offer her.]

You speak Japanese well [She gives him an encouraging smile as she takes the business card when he offers it to her. She gives him a polite bow of her head, even if they are on a crowded bus she will be no less polite for it.] It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Kaiou Michiru

[Beckett returns the bow with one of his own.] Thank you very much, though I still have a lot to work on. I'm Kwan Beckett. It's nice to meet you as well.

I am sure your talent and passion shines through your work anyway. [Michiru says kindly, switching to English since she can tell his Japanese is still basic.]

[Beleg is very relieved she's gone back to English; he's not entirely sure how much longer his Japanese is going to hold up.] Thank you again very much for your compliments. [Beckett nods at the books she is carrying.] University student?

I am, I just started this September studying Music [Michiru nodded, holding up her violin case as much as she can in the crowded bus.]

[Becket has to tilt his entire body a bit to see the case, but he managed.] A violist! You must be talented to major in it. I'm a cellist, but it is only a hobby for me.

An artist and a musician, we seem to have several things in common, don't we? [Michiru commented, it had been difficult for her to meet others outside of school and the bus was the last place she thought to run into someone she shared interests in.]

Beckett laughs. He doesn't have that many friends, travelling as he does for his work all the time. My work depends a lot on being in the right place at the right time. I'm glad my luck is holding for me outside of my work despite the less than optimal setting we are in right now.

[elegantsoldier]

Perhaps the right place the right time can be a student performance showcase next week? I have some tickets if you're interested [She offered as she shifted the books in her arms so she could dig the tickets out from her bag.]

That sounds wonderful. The exact sort of coincidence that I like. [Beckett's been thinking about buying a membership to the local orchestra, but a smaller student performance would be a nice way to get his feet wet.] Want me to take the books for you for a moment?

[elegantsoldier]

Oh thank you [She said gratefully as she handed him her books so she could find the tickets for him.] Ah ha, here we are!

[She took her books back in exchange for two tickets.]

[Beleg makes sure she's not going to drop the books by accident before letting go.] Thank you very much. I am sure the concert will be wonderful and I look forward to it.

I look forward to seeing you there then. [She says warmly as she makes sure she has a secure hold on her books, grateful for his help.]

[Becket winces when the bus comes to a screeching halt in front of his stop, almost throwing him out of balance.] And this is where I get off. A good day to you, Kaiou-san. Thank you for making this ride far more bearable than it would have been.

You're welcome, Kwan-san, it was my pleasure [She nearly stumbles when the bus lurches but manages to move aside so he can pass by more easily to get off.]
