[He's embarrassed for a moment thinking he's probably gone and upset a stranger or something. But, nope. That's not the case at all. Instead it's Karl. His biological dad.

[Awkward meeting is a bit awkward, though there is a small bit of relief that Michael opted to call him by the first name rather than 'Mr Aurion'ing at him. Being called dad, well, he never expected that for a minute from either of his kids. It isn't a title he deserves, after all.

Not dwelling on that now, though. Making sure this conversation doesn't go too awkwardly for either of them takes priority. Being blunt about why he could be at a grocery store doesn't happen precisely for that reason. Being an ass to a cute, surprise kid isn't happening. Karl bends down to pick up the shaving cream as he answers.]
