Also, who would you play from your canons if you didn’t already play Fuu, Jacuzzi and Minato?

Indeed he did. This is a man with an iron stomach (who still won't eat anything sweet).

If I didn't play Fuu, I'd play Eagle Vision of Autozam. If I didn't play Jacuzzi, I'd probably play Ennis (but that requires a lot of reading and the translations are pretty dry?). And Minato actually is my "if you didn't" character! I normally play Aigis.

So I have to ask, though. What is up with Emil's new strange tastebuds?

...ahahah. In canon, Hamel eats pretty much anything and especially gross weird things. Like worms, brains and gods (yes, that's Poseidon and yes, he really would have eaten him if Flute didn't interfere). I love using stupid gags as echoes so when I saw a food challenge post, I couldn't resist.

What's your favorite thing about playing Matt as opposed to Minato?

Matt is much more... enthusiastic. He's really similar to (my interpretation of) Minato because they're both very quirky and very loyal and pretty good with people. But Matt talks, so he makes friends, but he also has people who think he's stupid and immature and just generally don't seem to like him, like L and Marina.

But he's so much fun to play because it just rolls off of him and the fact that it confuses other characters is just... nice. He's upbeat and friendly and you can't insult him because he doesn't feel insulted! With Minato he's friendly, but quiet and reserved. He's cute but he can be really off putting because he puts a lot of thought into what he says. Matt... puts zero thought into what he says. There is no brain to mouth filter.

Would you eat an entire cake if you got a free bet out of it?

What is it about Jacuzzi/Ennis (given the above question) do you like playing/the idea of playing?

Also, how would you recommend Magic Knight Rayearth to me? I am just incredibly curious to what this canon is, but I am scared of running into spoilers.

I love literally everything about playing Jacuzzi. Like I said up top with Matt where he seems very confident, Jacuzzi is the exact opposite SO IF IM AFRAID IM SAYING SOMETHING DUMB??? Jacuzzi can ICly freak out over it. It was a brilliant plan. But my favorite thing is how he can spend about 50 comments just saying nice things about someone. All he sees is people's good qualities, the things that they have the potential to achieve. The second it turns around on him, he can see nothing good in himself and I just find that interesting.

Ennis was just a lot of fun in the series. She's classy and polite, but she can also kick your ass if need be. She also has my favorite quality in all characters ever: when she comes to care about someone, she really cares about them and she seems just very loyal to those who are good to her. Her almost sacrifice toward the "end" of the series just left me at "yes. her. she is one of my favorites there should have been more of her." Also she strikes me as a little naive about some things and I like that. Also women in suits. Hot. Damn. Women in suits.

It's a little hard to explain because the entire second series is hinged on the spoilers from the end of the first. But... I guess I'd sell it to you based on the fact that there are magical girls, giant robot gods, and a talking marshmallow. It's one of CLAMP's earlier works and the one that really brought them fame. They pretty much abandoned it with the success of Cardcaptor Sakura and Chobits, but it has one of the best stories and plot twists in the CLAMP collection, imo. All three main girls experience a lot of growth and there are dire consequences for their actions. Plus Fuu is really cute and does a lot of stupid things but I'm just biased.

How the hell do you balance the amount of CR Isaac and Miria have?

WELL, the thing about Isaac and Miria is, as you know, they love everyone. They are everyone's pals, its ridiculous. In what I could read of the light novels? Isaac befriends Ladd Russo. HAVE YOU HEARD OF THIS? IT REALLY THROWS ME FOR A LOOP. So they really have no choice but to befriend all the people.

SO BALANCING CR IS INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT, but it usually just defaults to "HEY BUDDY, HOW YOU DOING? WE CARE ABOUT YOU BUDDY! WE'LL THROW OURSELVES IN FRONT OF THIS TRUCK IF IT'LL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER" and so on.

I'm also of the opinion that so far? The Dians care about everyone but aren't really close with everyone. They've got a close group of people they consider besties that is basically made up of... Jacuzzi, Aquaman/Arthur, Cinderella/Rarity, and probably Kanti/Kanaya. Everyone else is a regular pal, although a couple people like Rakka and Czes/Ben are probably gonna be on the fast track to besties soon. I kinda want to improve that, but we'll have to see what progresses.

Finally, I realized pretty quickly that keeping track of everyone the Dians liked? WAS GONNA BE A CHALLENGE. So I ended up making a thread tracking post to keep together what was said to specific people, just by going to whatever thread it was. I'm probably gonna have to cut down the threads with people that dropped BECAUSE GOOD GOD THE DIANS TALK SO MUCH.

TL;DR? It's very very very hard, but I try to keep a system together.

Aw yay Jacuzzi somehow made the list. Also mega props to you my friend. I have trouble with Matt's and he doesn't have near as much.

It was kind of a few things. My old game was ending, my real life was literal shit at the time and I needed a distraction AND ALL MY FRIENDS WERE JOINING AND NO ONE INVITED ME SO I SAID FINE I'LL JOIN EVEN THOUGH YOU DIDN'T INVITE ME NOW YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH ME MORE (nottalking). I'm an adult.

If you didn't play Isaac/Miria, who would you play from Baccano?

Ah, the choices. A horrible concept, choice. Sure, you pick one choice that you think is right for you and everything seems happy dandy. But then you're left forever wondering what that other choice could have been like. The days tick tick tick by and every hour on the hour you wonder "should I have done this? What would happen if I had taken the road less traveled?" The years go on and the wonder and curiosity stays with you forever and ever AND EVER AND EVER! But there's nothing you can do but live with the ever present curiosity and passion that exists behind the choice you make! With each choice the passion builds and builds until I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! I WISH I COULD MAKE ALL THE CHOICES FOREVER, TO EXPERIENCE ALL OF LIFE'S WONDEROUS PATHS WITH ALL THE TIME THIS BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING SPECTACULAR WORLD HAS TO OFFER! In case it wasn't clear, Graham Specter, no question. Its just coming up with rants like that that I have trouble with. I imagine I'd get burned out very quickly.

Who else would you play from Persona if you had to?

The question, my friend is who wouldn't I play from Persona. I have also played Aigis, Ken Amada, Fuuka Yamagishi and Chie Satonaka (from 4). If I had to choose just one at the moment, it'd be Chie though.

Who is your favorite character of all time?

Isaac and Miria are clearly one person and its impossible to believe otherwise so THEY are my favorite. They just have so much HOPE AND LOVE AND AMAZINGESS I can't stand it.

His favorite weird thing? The lab coats. Any and all situations where he wore a lab coat unnecessarily because it meant he was having a good time with a friend who was willing to put up with his weird shit.

How much of Fuu's personality do you expect Anais to pick up through echoes?

... Did she really.

She's already picking up weird little bits of it. Like tone of voice and trains of thought. She's getting some of the weirder quirks back, and her cautionary nature from the second series. Overall, I don't think she's never going to be Fuu. She just isn't made for near sainthood, and she's never going to manage Fuu's naivety. But she's going to get back a lot of her compassion and cleverness over time. Might not be from echoes, though, it might be from personal growth.

Donnyyyyyyyyy. I want Donny. If we're not talking Jacuzzi's gaaaaaaaaaang... I'd actually like to see one of the comparatively bad characters. Szilard, Fermet, THAT SORT YOU KNOW THE ONES THAT do the so morally reprehensible things that we forget the cast is 90% murderers, thieves and delinquents.

Is there a movie you can watch 20 times in a row and not get bored of?

Any favorite things about the differences between Anais and Fuu?

They're actually really similar in all the ways I really like Anais. But the nicest part might be that Anais is actually capable of getting angry for stupid reasons.

Since you seem to be into magical girls--what is your favorite magical girl series of all time?

While I do have some fondness for other things in the genre - Sailor Moon, Nanoha, others still - Precure would definitely have to top out as my favorite. If a specific series, my answer will be Heartcatch or Doki Doki depending on the day and time you ask me. The franchise as a whole does a great job of embodying distinct the core of the genre while adding in a heavy mix of elements from other genres - be it bits from its big brothers Kamen Rider and Sentai, or shounen fighting anime sensibilities in fight sequences - that it manages to keep me coming back. Among many other things I could go on about for a very long time.

How do you go about giving a voice to a mostly silent protagonist?

I only ever watched part of one of the Pretty Cure series and I genuinely enjoyed it and I've never been a fan of magical girls what so I think I can see where the fondness comes from.

For the voice itself? I try to just use common phrases between his classmates and their tone of voice because he'd probably talk a lot like his friends, so he's a mostly casual high school speaking kid, you know? Then I add a weird twist to everything because he's the guy who tells Ken he takes hot sauce in his coffee and does this. He acts a little differently with everyone because he has to to be really good at social linking, which he is, so with Phillip he acts a little more cool and confident and like someone Phil can trust and rely on, and he pulls Ken into goofier stuff while simultaneously doing his best to be sturdy and reliable as well, he takes nothing seriously with Sasha, while he tries to take on a smarter tone with Lily and makes fun of Marina. It's a fair balancing act of "trying to get reactions out of people" and "trying to make connections with people."

Mostly it's just bullshit though.

If you could get everyone in STE into one series ever and not necessarily one you play from, which one would it be?
