Questions Meme

As first posted here by Emely!:

1. Make a thread for yourself in this post, listing the characters you play and your own name.
2. Go find someone's thread to jump and ask them A QUESTION. The question can be anything, RP related is common, of course, but not necessary. Who do you want to app most? What does Character A think about Character B? What's your favorite flavor of icecream?
3. Answer all questions asked of you! Once you have answered, end your response with a question for the person who first questioned you. This is important to keep the discussion going and going.
4. This goes back and forth indefinitely until someone gets tired and can't reply anymore.
5. Have a lot of fun! ♥

Season 2 begins tomorrow, all, and there've been plenty of developments and new blood since the first round - get the words flowin', get to know/re-know some of your gamemates, and/or simply shoot the breeze~

Bwahaha! I mean.

Nobody seems interested in playing from Golden Sun, it seems like (except at Animus, whose premise I don't like), so I don't get a whole lot of same-canon CR. And for cross-canon, a lot of it is Karkat.

But let's start at the beginning. One of my most fondly-remembered conversations over at Milliways was between Felix and Enzo Matrix, from ReBoot, on climate and how it happens. ReBoot, in case you don't know, takes place inside computers, so these are neither of them characters from standard spherical worlds.

Now Karkat is a delight to watch, wherever he shows up. And the one at Milliways gets along fantastically well with ponies. Possibly it's related to his theory that they're Equius' legacy the way humans are his own. But in any case, it all started when he met Twilight Sparkle (not mine) and ended up insulting Applejack by proxy. I don't remember most of the details, but they reconciled and he used the mane six to test the stripped-down version of Trollian that has since become the closest thing Milliways has to a network. (There was relevant alchemization that also produced a pony-shaped computer, which was eventually given to Alyx Vance.)

Then along came pony canon advancement, and Discorded!Fluttershy (mine) tried to antagonize him. This did not turn out anything like I expected, but it was nevertheless hilarious. But things got even better when Princess Luna (also not mine) showed up and got into a shouting match with him.

Also deserving of mention is a thread here, between Fred and Danielle, which I liked enough to plurk about and invite the other mun to view it. It could probably be best described as "a magic knight and a future half-ghost talk about Star Trek and its applicability to their situation".

Are you good at finding and selecting PBs? If so, what are some of your tricks? If not, what do you see as the biggest obstacles?

Mostly because I don't play a lot of characters who actually need them, but when I do they're usually POCs, so sometimes good PBs can be hard to find if I'm looking in the wrong place. Typically I'll just flick through IMDB or shows I know, find an actor or actress that looks right, and then either find them on icon communities, HollowArt, or literally all their movies.

What draws you to a particular character? Do you have a type?

I'm not actually sure. I mean, I see commonalities, but a theme is difficult to articulate and nobody else has mentioned noticing one. Perhaps we could say that my characters all have something they're dedicated to, though that phrasing leaves a lot to be desired.

Are there any character types that you dislike enough to go out of your way not to RP with?

I actually don't really have much in ways of characters I OOCly loathe enough to go out of my way to not tag them. I tend to just move whoever I play towards whatever CR is best for them or most entertaining for me. I get a little awkward around canon's I don't know, but that's easily fixed by staying up a night to read the wiki for that particular piece of media, maybe browse the tumblr tag or something. If it's a movie, I'll just watch it.

If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be? And let's assume for the sake of setting you up and not leaving you stranded, you have the resources to survive there.

I have three answers to this, with varying levels of silly:

1) Right where I am; I don't like moving or disrupting schedules.

2) All I want is a room somewhere,
Far away from the cold night air,
With one enormous chair;
Oh, wouldn't it be loverly!

3) My ideal place would probably be somewhere in southern California, far enough inland that it doesn't get humid, somewhere warm and fairly dry all the time. Also within reach of civilization because a lifetime supply of insulin isn't really a thing.

Is there anyone else, either a specific character or things common in a different canon, that you'd find it particularly interesting/appealing/funny to Echo onto Kanti?

Mmmmmm, probably Hellboy's massive stone hand. It just seems particularly amusing to me, given the size of it in relation to literally anyone, even Hellboy himself.

If not that, The Flower Het Jelly dress, or Tsumiki's obsession for jellies from Kuragehime. I think she'd really get a kick out of that.

Have you ever considered characters that you'd be interested in seeing here, but not playing yourself?
seriallylucky: (disguised)

[personal profile] seriallylucky 2014-04-01 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I have indeed. Apart from castmates, even. Most often it's because of how traumatic and/or amusing the Echo transitions would be. Among the most recent have been Saracen (a homicidal goose (yes, redundant) from Frances Hardinge's Fly By Night and Fly Trap) and Kim Ross (a girl who ends up as a cyborg, from the webcomic Dresden Codak).

What sorts of things do you particularly focus on when you make an OC or an AU?
vetala: ([Glance] like i need to cheat)

[personal profile] vetala 2014-04-02 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
For AUs, it honestly depends. Like for this AU, it was mostly how Kanaya's more brutal or creepy character traits (take my help even if you don't want it anyone? anyone? bueller?) would transfer over to STE verse, or if they even would at all. I've played a few Rule 63 AUs, which means considering the new place a character would be in due to sexism in-universe, or whether or not they'd be in a new place at all if there isn't gender discrimination. I mean, there are a few other AU things I've dabbled in via boredom, but as far as RP goes, those two are the only ones I was ever serious about.

As far as OCs go, I don't really mess around with them until I've got the universe they're in down. Once I know how the world works, I know what kind of problems they would have to and are going to face, which makes designing them a lot easier, since I can work from childhood and onward. I'm a big believer in the fact that adversity and how people handle it are what shapes them.

What are your top 3 favorite colors?
seriallylucky: (family)

[personal profile] seriallylucky 2014-04-03 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
Depends how we delineate colors. I mean, going by jelly beans or drawn rainbows I could just say "yellow, green, blue", but if we go more precise than that then it's more like "goldenrod, teal, green".

Though actually, I'm not certain I need colors; often I will respond to something in black and white as though it was in color.

Um. I'm running out of questions. Which sense would you most hate to lose?
vetala: ([Facepalm] i finished this for you linda)

[personal profile] vetala 2014-04-05 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I'd say my sense of direction but I don't fucking have one. I guess probably my sense of smell. Awkwardly sniffing stuff is very important to me.

I'm... out of questions, I think.
