Or the entire block is trashed and you'll be needing an alternate route to work. Or your workplace is trashed, if not some real estate you had in the area, and you'll be needing a helping hand - or are trying to offer one!
> Help, help, I've been robbed - your bag or wallet's just been snatched, or is in the process of being snatched. Catch the snatcher or rough them up - you may or may not be surprised, if you come to blows or a chase, to find on throwing a punch that they're much quicker and/or sturdier than you'd have expected. Maybe someone will dive in to back you up.

[He doesn't answer her and returns to his job finishing up his work. Sure he got a talking to from his manager for yet again treating the customers rudely, but whatever. Getting his keys and coat from his locker, he goes to her table and raps on it again like before.]

Let's go.

[This is going to be an awkward car ride home...]

[Again, Stella jumps slightly at the rapping, but quickly nods and packs up her book, moving to follow him out to his car once he's finished. She doesn't even particularly consider the dangers of walking home at this hour. Of course she hears stories of the strange things going on, of the usual attacks at the early hours of the morning, but it's never something you think to happen to you.]

Thanks again for this. I can give you directions. You know where um, Second Street is, right? We're at number 10.

[jailbreaks]

[Once he enters his car, he's quick to find a back of cigarettes he's tossed somewhere in his side door and light up. Rolling down his window he takes a quick swig of his smoke before he answers her.]

I know where it is. [It's where the rich people live, the part of town he never visits, because, haha... he can't afford that shit. So starting up his car he makes his way out of the parking lot. Note how he doesn't use it car signal...]

So why does a rich bitch like you visit the fast food joint so often? [Oops, he's no longer at work, he's kind of forgotten to use his filter now. But his tone isn't rude, just maybe a little off kilter.]

Okay. I was going to give you directions if you needed them. But that's good.

[She's relieved in that at least if he knows where they are going there is obviously less chance for them to get lost in any case. She coughs once but doesn't comment on the smoking. A lot of people do it, and she is used to tolerating it even if she doesn't do it herself.]

I was just wanting a place to read for a bit before heading home after work. That's all. I like the milkshakes.

[It's not that hard to understand, is it? A lot of people go to fast food places. Why would it be so strange for her to go to one? Stella doesn't see why he questions her about it. Probably wondering why she didn't prefer some cafe. But the fast food place is closer and most cafes are closed by the time she leaves the library.]

[The coughs are something he's used to when he's smoking, but he's learned to take it as a signal. With his right hand on the wheel and his left hand holding his cig that's at least being held outside the window he makes an almost mocking humming noise as an answer to her statement.]

And home's not a good enough place? The castle's probably a better place for a princess than some crappy fast food place.

[He actually consciously watched his language there. She doesn't seem bad but... George is quite jaded when it comes to everything.]

Castle? It's not that big. I'm not saying home isn't good enough, just that I didn't feel like going straight home is all. What does it matter to you anyway? A customer is a customer, regardless of where they are from or how much money they might have on them. I'm not 'princess'. I have a name. Stella Lancaster.

[She answers, not quite offended, but merely wanting to set things straight, looking to him as he smokes out the window. That much at least is more considerate than others might do, even if she doesn't necessarily approve of it herself. She appreciates that much. He seems to have moments where he's....almost trying to be nicer? Even if his language and word choice might not be the best.]

[Even if he's a bit curious about why she goes to a fast food place to read, he's not really interested in her beyond that. To him, this is a one time deal to teach her a lesson. Maybe next time he'd know to intrude in her reading time before the last bus left.]

Pretty sure one less customer won't kill our place. Everyone goes there anyway.

[Especially on Saturdays... even worse with the after church rush on Sundays.]
