SO THESE TWO HAVEN'T ACTUALLY GOTTEN BACK ON TRACK AFTER SHE ARRIVED IN LOCKE AGAIN SO WE SHOULD FIX THAT ASAP. but before that -- luci is actually the only one who's gotten banagher to actually open up about that internal struggle he has going re: who he was versus who he is. he can't always separate himself from his preincarnation that easily so he doesn't always know how to voice that frustration, but somehow luci got it out of him without much dancing around the topic. so there's a level of trust there he might not completely realize, especially when it comes to how he's leveraging his echoes in this life.

her situation with her parents is pretty foreign to him (or was), but he's driven to empathize as much as he is to help her out, since they're in this situation come hell or high water. despite how competent and proactive she is, and how much he thinks she's someone to be followed and trusted (not unlike how mineva presented herself) he also thinks she deserves breathers too.

it was a lot of the motivation behind this thread, way back when. which we should cook up an excuse to do again soon because holy kawaii, batman.

holly is the little sister banagher never had but probably really wanted. growing up an only child has its perks, but when he's lucky enough to interact with kids as sweet as her, it changes his perspective a little. he always thought of her as especially kind, even when he'd only see her weekly for piano lessons, but when she got her numbers, concerned as he was about that, he got around to seeing how strong and brave she really is. and he does admire her for it, even though he also got to see how that took its toll on her. since she thought to call him, before elly even, he does feel responsible for her. RIP HIS HEART OUT, WHY DON'T YOU.

wise snake really changed how he sees her too. if he didn't have the confidence in her that he does, he never would have let her back out of the unicorn to keep fighting.

BROS IN ARMS. banagher still feels awful about the first echo he gave eugen and that will probably never go away and/or worsen with time, they more they find out. for now though, eugen is one of the current people to unequivocally hold his trust. not that he doesn't give it out willingly, but eugen being another gundam pilot, and one who's already out of the starting gate with more knowledge than he has, really grounds him. as far as he's concerned, he's already gone so far out of his way for him -- poking fun at him when he gets too serious, making him feel as though he's not alone, shielding him from wise snake. just one of those would have been enough to secure banagher's faith in him, but look at you, overachiever, going for the gold.

i think all banagher wants to do is make sure he repays that kindness as honestly and often as he can. whether it's by similarly making sure eugen knows he doesn't have to go it alone, or making sure he eats at least one meal a day, or just sitting around goofing off or tearing their hair out trying to figure out the mechas. he's got u homie. let's have a sleepover. no homo.

LILY. dear, sweet lily who punched him point-blank in the brain with feelings. even before wise snake happened, lily was always someone who was capable of making him really think about things in respect to leveraging their growing powers with who they are, rather than who they were. which isn't the easiest with him, and he knows it, but he's grateful all the same for lily helping him soundboard that piece of the puzzle. because man, is it an important one, and a perspective that he sorely needed and didn't expect to find where he did. something about her just helps him tl;dr discuss it naturally, which is a pretty big feat, considering he's... not only more of a listener, but someone who can't always express everything that's going on with him. given enough words and time and patience (all of which she's selflessly provided) he can open up, and did.

THEN SNAKE BOSS HAPPENED. and he got a brainfull of emotions. the incredible thing about it is that he wasn't afraid of it. in the past, he felt like using his power was weird and intrusive and was capable of helping precisely no one. winter put it into words for him, but lily was the one to help him enact it. and he's never been so glad to have been proven wrong.

with their text convo following that day, also something he appreciated, lily's pretty secure near the top of the list of people that he'd do practically anything for. i don't think he even knows how to express what she did for him, but he's thankful for it all the same.

AS ALWAYS, HOW'S IT FEEL TO BE THE MENTOR FIGURE ha ha run while you can no but really, they have this great push-and-pull thing that banagher actually hasn't gotten from anyone else yet and it's great to play. for as much as neil defers to him on general gundam/network stuff, banagher is actually much more stable for having someone who generally knows what they're doing around. calling the shots himself isn't something he's great at, especially when it comes to things like IDK, SELF PRESERVATION, so having neil's perspective to bounce off of -- both as someone older and with more experience dealing with people who may not always have the best intentions -- is invaluable to him right now. plus, despite not knowing how he feels about someone taking 'responsibility' for him, the fact that there is someone looking out for him makes him feel better about life. because he's sentimental like that.

BEYOND THAT THEY HAVEN'T DONE MUCH SLICE OF LIFE STUFF TO COMMENT ON ANYTHING OTHER THAN THAT so we should really fix that. like the congratulatory drinks they never had.
