Arthur's already way too magic for his own good, but self-confidence is a must.

He'd only go for the sword if he felt like he could do it(which he normally wouldn't). So, either Merlin can be legitimately encouraging or guinness could be deceivingly encouraging. u_u

You can have Merlin to encourage him, if you like. It'd probably give him echoes all up in here for encourage his own version of Arthur so you know, it's in his blood to be encouraging of blond would-be-kings

A mixture of things! I kind of get the impression that echoes with Arthur will heavily rely on other peoples' echoes.

Buuuut, in this case, excalibur can be a monthly event echo or something. Then, Merlin and Arthur could likely be bouncing continual echoes off of one another like a firecracker inside a jar.
