CR TL;DR Meme
A new season, a new cast, a new and/or advanced brace of friend- and foe- (and other-)ships.
How to Play:
1. Post a comment for each of your characters.
2. Reply to comments with your own requesting thoughts/musing/etc. on their CR.
3. Feel free to comment to characters you're interested in building CR with while you're at it - for opinions on where it stands and/or a take on where it might be going in the future!
4. Reply to comments under your characters' own accordingly.
Have at it!

L is every bit as fascinated by their CR as I am. Since he's still building his reputation as a detective he tends to be a little too eager about his cases and his dedication to solving them. I owe a debt of gratitude forever to everyone who, in the past, present or future, involves L in a mystery plot, because usually it's surprisingly hard to make that happen. Lazarus has been the first AU version of L that's really stuck for me, and playing him from any point you see in canon poses a lot of challenges because people expect to see a great detective sleuthing around, when L at that point in his career is closer to someone who's driven, but not particularly passionate, taking cases that personally interest him and lying about what "justice" means to him. Lazarus has both drive and passion, subverting his role in Death Note and turning him into a detective who works with the devotion of a zealot. There's a youthful vigor and tenaciousness to this character that you're helping me explore, and I appreciate that deeply.
L wants to trust Cesar, but the Thundercorps revelation has him on his guard, as well as the sudden change of heart regarding the search for Cesar's brother. He believes there's a lot he's not being told, which frustrates him, but he's aware that Cesar could himself be in danger, so it's not turned into resentment quite yet. It's a "help me help you" situation, and when L thinks he's the only capable one in the room, he tends to commit to the idea that he knows best. He won't be convinced otherwise unless he has proof, and at this point, he thinks he's closer than anyone else to solving the case, making him the most qualified to decide when the real quitting time can be.
I've been looking forward to plotting more with you. Again, sorry about my con-absence, thanks for putting up with my slow. :p

Pre-'Change of heart': Cesar was both impressed and unimpressed by meeting him, but L still represented the biggest chance they had at finding his brother, and Cesar was willing to suspend disbelief if it meant having hope. The fact that L proved quickly to be as good as he said he was meant huge points in his favor, and Cesar was grateful for that.
It's been long enough since the guy went missing that Cesar knows logically that the chances of L finding a corpse are higher than those of finding a living person. The phonecall where shit started going down changed gears for everything: His brother is alive. His wellbeing depends on Cesar. Cesar is too scared to think that calling in reinforcements is a good idea, and right now he wants absolutely zero eyes on him not just so he can not endanger his brother further, but also so he can collect names and info in guilty peace. If L starts prying into his brother's actual situation right now, it could get him hurt or killed. If L discovers and releases what Cesar is doing to the network, it could put a near stop to him getting any useful information he can use to keep his brother alive, and that could also get him hurt or killed. L represents a threat, and Cesar wants everything to freeze until he can either calm things down or find an alternative. Considering that he's currently at the mercy of his brother's kidnappers, alternatives are going to be a while in coming.
No worries about con absence!! This is actually coming up on being the last week of the semester for me, so now it's my turn to have extremely spotty presence for the next few days.

I'm very open to L getting hurt and almost coming to a bad end because of his refusal to drop the case. I'm especially open to him finding a corpse around the same time, since we agreed that this case won't have a happy ending, but just let me know when and how you'd like to handle that. L's therapist/roommate is a purgatory sister from Umineko and she has teleportation abilities, so she's probably the best exit strategy if things go downhill fast for our intrepid investigator.

I like those ideas. :> I figure they'll find the corpse near the end of his deception, since he otherwise won't have any reason to go along with what the Mafia says. I would like the deception to go on for a while, though; it needs to get worse before it can get better!

Keep me updated! You've been awesome about it so far and I really appreciate that. :)

Will do!! Likewise, man, I really appreciate your patience with my own school shennanigans and occasional plotting delays. We're making a good team thus far!
