Holy shit I could go on for hours but it is 2:30 so I'm just going to go through the points quickly.

Anthony has been so good for her. It's not even funny. He's helped her open up, he's given her a hand when she fucked up, he hasn't laughed at her for any serious reason. He has pretty much always been there since Christmas and she appreciates that endlessly. And he's nice to her mom. He's really nice to her mom. And he rescues her from endless boredom at dad's. He's also super affectionate (in her opinion anyway) and he's not weird about her being stupid about it.

Still, she's not naive. She's always kind of waiting for the problems to start. The whole thing at the bowling alley was mostly just her being scared. That she got close to somebody and wanted someone to like her and then she fucked it up because of course she did. She's scared that now that she's gotten close, she's going to lose him. Especially because of fucking echoes.

But! She is also very aware of how much she likes him and how much effort she's willing to put into being with him. Way more than with anyone else. He's inspired a part of Anais is that needed companionship, and he's been affectionate where no one else has. So she's willing, when she stops being scared, to take a few extra steps out of the box she's locked herself up in to meet him. And he's cute and he's friendly and he is also contagious and she's never going to let that go. Really, he's kind of that one thing that kept her clinging to sanity throughout this whole... thing.

He's made her so much nicer though...
