Lily is probably one of the Cures he's closest with, along with Annie (now gone, alas) and Russel. Just by virtue of talking with her more than the others.
He appreciates her more practical approach to things. She clearly thinks things through. And while Danny may not do that so much himself, he's learned from his family (and I don't just mean the conspiracy brainstorming) to value that trait a lot. He feels good knowing at least there's someone who thinks about all these things--and he also likes that she's one of his peers with all of that too.
He would definitely not mind getting to know her better. C8
