[TEST] DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT

I HONESTLY COULDN'T THINK OF A GOOD PICTURE SO THANKS LAVVY

Here, have the slightly more relevant song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_nLlL1mwKI

Anyway, this is a random scenario test drive meem, since we've had an influx of new potential appers. I am a bit too lazy to make this a proper meem, so you make your own shit up. Here's some inspirational scenarios:

> The Mall. The hell are you doing out in the suburbs, bro? And why is that woman trying so hard to sell you nail polish?
> The Park. MAN IT IS A NICE D-- shit is that a Vermicelli or whatever the monsters are called?
> Arts & Crafts Fair. Cute knit cat cozies! Bad pretzels! YEAH.
> Rainy Day. It's wet and you're stuck at the bus stop. HOW DEGRADING.
> You get an echo while someone else is around. SHIT. PARANOIA TIME.

Or make up your own!

[Though the convention is a little overwhelming, Claire is here anyway, because... author. One of her favorite authors. Besides, it's in her home town, so it's much easier to get to for cheap, right? Right....

She stands in line, her long hair hanging loose around her face, hugging her first ever copy of Maya Aaronson's first book and waiting.... Her hair also happens to half-hide the circular mark on her forehead. No, it's not related to any major religion. It's just... a weird circle. That glows sometimes. It's a little embarrassing, actually. But hair is useful for so many things.

It's her turn, and she mutely holds out the book, looking up at Maya from beneath her lashes. After a beat, she manages a nervous:]

It's... it's an honor.

!!! LIRAEL also sorry about the lack of icons. soon

[She's been doing this since the 80s and she's actually STILL not used to it. All these people, and they're all enamored of this thing she wrote based on a dream she had when she was thirteen.

but it made them all happy, so...
]

The honor is mine, really!

[She gives a broad smile, then takes the book.]

I wouldn't be anyone at all if not for you fans, after all. My, this is a well-loved copy...

Should I make this out to anyone in particular?
roadstotheriver: (me-shy)

heee yes :D happy somebody recognizes her already!

[personal profile] roadstotheriver 2013-06-05 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Um. Just Claire.

[She does smile a little, trying not to look like she feels like she might just die of embarrassment. Here she is, meeting an amazing author she's always loved, and she sounds like she's monosyllabic.

So she winds up with an equally embarrassing babble a moment later:]

You can write anything, really. It's just amazing to meet you. I could never write anything that creative, it's really one of my favorite book series, and... and. Yes, I have read it a lot, I know.
prinsects: (They're very cute and less scary at that)

[A pair of petite identical twin girls in somewhat faded but rather lacy, classically girly-girl ensembles beam when they reach the front of the line. The one in the white adores adventurey fantasy books, and the one in the green happily encourages whatever she likes. The latter takes a copy - paperback - of the first book Order of the Keys book from the former's arms, which she crosses behind her back with her chin held high, and sets it on the table.]

Make this out to my sister Gilda, please. [With a glance back to the girl in white.

Being here makes them feel very important.]

[Big smile]

To Gilda, eh? Are you both fans...?

[she goes ahead and signs the book -- To Gilda, may your adventures always be great! -- Maya]
prinsects: (An amusing sight! From a reasonable dist)

[personal profile] prinsects 2013-06-06 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
She is.

[With the book signed, Gwen is the first one to look at it, as if it's something she's done, for her sister, even though Gilda is standing just behind - where she passes it, signature on display.

Three hands are on the book, and while Gilda is still examining it with the occasional look back up to Maya in delight, Gwen comments:]
I like it, though.

[She doesn't say "I like your books", exactly, because she hasn't even read them. What she likes is what Gilda has told her about them - which is quite a lot.]
tinymsnightmare: (oh you gurl)

forgive the lack of icons as well ;;;

[personal profile] tinymsnightmare 2013-06-04 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[She has escaped the clutches of her parents and is now beaming widely at the author while holding a hardback - limited print even - of the first novel in her gloved arms. The pre-teen is all dressed up in a red Gothic number complete with the platform boots and curls in her black hair. Why, she even must have gotten expensive red contacts to fit in with the image.]

I really really REALLY love your books!

it's cool haha I have ZERO icons yet

[personal profile] unwakingwaters 2013-06-05 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my. And I love your outfit, how cute! Are you dressed as anyone specific, or are you just going for goth? In any case, you look wonderful.
tinymsnightmare: (casually here)

I could use the grownup form - but crazy face lol

[personal profile] tinymsnightmare 2013-06-05 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Umm, not really? [Kitiara shuffles her feet a little, still smiling because OMG her favorite author is actually talking to her!] Mom said that the only way I was allowed to come here is if I dressed up since most of my stuff is sort of got holes in them.

[she's rough on her clothing what with terrorizing the neighborhood boys, chasing cars and skating all over.]

I'm glad you like it! I'll tell mom since she made it.
peacefulwinter: (I didn't think of that.)

[personal profile] peacefulwinter 2013-06-12 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
[As she gets closer and closer to the front of the line, Winter starts to fidget more and more; her grip tightens on the book in her hands, before she notices and loosens up. It wouldn't do to crush the thing before Ms. Aaronson signs it, after all, especially since it'd lasted this long, even through repeated re-readings. This cycle repeats several times, until she's suddenly at the front of the line, and with a startled 'eep' she tilts her head down, bangs obscuring her eyes a little as she steps forward stiffly.]

H-h-hello...!
