[Robyn just watched him the entire time. She couldn't tell what was going on in his head but her mind was already running through a huge list of worst case scenarios. She knew there were other kids who's parents had freaked out about finding out about this, was that about to happen to her?

Her heart starts to race and she thinks about bolting out of the car and down the street. ...Which causes a sudden burst of rose petals to appear and flutter about in the car.

It's about then that she feels his arm around her pulling her closer to him.

Her eyes go wide and she just lets herself get pulled along in stunned surprise. H-he was sorry?.]

[Okay, that sure was a cloud of rose petals poofing into existence in his car and flying into his face. He shakes his head, blowing a few of them away from his face before picking one up and blinking at it. He's still got Robyn and gives her a look.]

I'm guessing The Fantastic Flower Girl?

[This... Is a little awkward, but awkward is a whole lot better than terrifying. She'll look up at him sheepishly.]

...I-I thought Red Rose had a better ring to it.

[Yes dad, she named her superhero alter-ego after a tea brand.]

[Okay, you know what? After all this crap getting bombarded with rose petals and then hearing that superhero name? That gets a little laugh out of him and he gives Robyn's shoulders and extra squeeze.]

Yeah, you're probably right on that one.

[His laugh is a short one though and he lets the petal go.]

... Why didn't you tell me before?

[Is he laughing? He's laughing! That's a good thing, right? It looks like a good thing. He doesn't seem to suddenly hate her or anything. She let's out a breath of relief. Though the relief is short lived and she feels like she just got shot in the gut with a canon when that next question pops up.]

I- Well-

...

[She didn't really have a good reason for this. Well she had tons of reasons why she felt she couldn't but a lot of them she wasn't sure she wanted to say to him, she wasn't sure how many of she honestly believed anymore either. She's had a few months to actually get to know her dad better, she that initial awkwardness of feeling like he was a stranger to her had sort of passed.]

I just I-

I didn't know what you'd say.

[He sighs, scrubbing his free hand over his face. He hadn't even shaved these past two days, he realizes, hadn't even crossed his mind. Kids have secrets, especially when they get to around her age, he knows that and he knew that getting used to that change was going to be a learning curve that she wasn't going to be coming to him at the age where she would come to her dad with anything. This, though, this was big. Way too big. And it stings a little bit that she wouldn't trust him with something like this, but at the same time, none of this is about him, is it? His voice is a little quiet when he speaks up after a moment of thought.]

Fair enough, I guess.

[Now what was he going to say.]

Well... something tells me that I'm going to have a lot more to say when I get the rest of the story [and he will, believe you him] but all I've got to say right now is that I'm your dad, you're stuck with me and nothing's gonna change that. Not even aliens from outer space and superpowers.

[The sigh makes her tilt her head downward. She felt awful for not telling, but how do you tell someone this when more people seem to be against the numbered than for them? She didn't want her dad to be upset with or hate her for something she couldn't control. She was so glad he didn't. She leans in closer to him.]

I-I'm so sorry...

[She feels another shot to the gut when he mentions getting the full story. She planned to tell him that too, but it was still hard for her to think about that right now... It was just too soon.

That pain is relieved a little at the next comment, she'll reach over and wrap her arms around him again.]

...Thank you. Thank you so much.

[That's a factor too. Every day somebody else had something to say about the Numbered, and less and less of it is good. It had to be hard, with so many avenues for help and support being closed off and Harry has a sinking feeling that it's only going to get harder if the climate around the whole thing stays the same.

But that's not important. A long time ago, he'd been handed his daughter and at that moment he'd made a promise. A promise that she'd never have to face anything alone, that she would always, always, have someone to turn to for anything. Sixteen years of growing, and time apart hadn't changed a line of that.]

[The whole story could wait. He still wanted it but it could wait until she's ready to share it. For now, he's just going to hug her until she's okay to let go.]

Look, I know I haven't always been there for you like I should have been but I am now. There's nothing you can come to me with that's going to change that.

[Okay. That really throws her off. She wasn't honest with him, she hid things from him that ended up getting her into a whole lot of trouble and she just admitted it. ...And yet he doesn't want her to be sorry? Her head can't quite wrap around that, at least not at this second.]

Y-you don't?

[She keeps on holding for awhile longer, it almost makes you wonder why they stopped hugging and got into the car in the first place.

She didn't respond to that second part. she just rested her head against his chest and let out a sigh of relief. She appreciated it, she just didn't have any words that would really convey how much she did.]
