The All-Purpose CR/Plotting Meme



The meme is open to, as per always, making arrangements with and between:
- Current characters in game.
AND
- Potential characters - any characters you may have in mind up for app/re-app consideration, who there is a header for under the main post.

If you have an app in that has not been processed, please, don't be shy about commenting around for prospective CR and plans on entry - though, of course, remember that plans will be tentative!

Locations in which characters may have had their first echoes are the current echo boundaris: Locke City and Las Vegas (USA), the area around Neuschwanstein Castle (Germany/Austria), Lapland (Finland), Christmas Island (Australia), and the future echo boundaries: Tokyo (Japan), the Galapagos Islands (Equador), the area around Santarem (Amazonas, Brazil), London (UK). The future echo boundaries will open up between now and early April.

For ideas, here is the last plot post. Of special note are the doppelgänger in the Neuschwanstein Area and the anti-numbered musical in Las Vegas.

A blurb about them:

I haven't planned out a great deal with him other than he's someone who is less of an isolationist than his previous self but still rather guarded. The most that is set in stone is that he's related to others here, he's coming from Frane where he owns a vineyard and he's looking to explain to California before coming to one of the echo cities due to family reasons.

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: Anything, really. Really. Those he knew from France, family, friends of the family, etc.

Hooks: Wine scene, I'm open to pretty much anything.

Plans/ongoing character plots: I'm just getting ideas right now and planning what I would like to do for him so a lot is open in the air and flexible.

A blurb about them: Fail vegan hippie with a big heart, lacks common sense - BUT HE'S LEARNING. Works in Data entry for Rain Industries, an sustainable housing, urban planning, and investment firm. His family has two properties in Locke (rather expensive ones.) He's actually intelligent and can learn quickly, but he lacks common sense.

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: A few family members are open, and he graduated from College last year, so college buddies are possible! (particularly of the environmentally friendly / hiking club sort of type) ...Dad's limo driver could also be a thing. Don't you want to be a limo driver?! Rain Industries also has four main locations in terms of headquarters. NYC and Seattle, Washington are the biggest, two smaller locations in Europe - Paris and London. His family also has property in Paris.

Open/Wanted CR: somebody who is just as helpless as he is Buddies for shenanigans to get into and drive everybody crazy. More "adult supervision."

Hooks: Camping / hiking pals, working at rain industries, or anybody who works at vegetarian / vegan restaurants. He's currently living in the mountain - except for the past 3 weeks he's been in Locke again. He still goes back and forth to check on the family properties, and go look at the beach (less so in winter, he'll be doing that more often soon.)

Plans/ongoing character plots: My plans are pretty much open right now. Just finished something rather big with him. When new echo locations open up I might have him move around a bit.

Xander Jarle / Sandrath | Original

Character: Xander Jarle
Former soldier of the military during 2002 - 2006, was honorably discharged due to the death of his twin brother, Conleth. Did talk to a non-numbered therapist who suggested to record his days on a voice recorder, takes anti-depressants, sleeping pills and occasionally smokes to make it through the day. He moved to Locke in the middle of August 2013 with his black Siamese cat, Connor. He's now a grocery store baker, owns a second cat and is presently at war with himself due to his preincarnation's echoes.

Pre-Incarnation: Sandrath
A former arch-angel before being corrupted by a substance known as 'demon blood' during several wars. He went to the surface to find answers after spotting an unused vessel but ended up getting side-tracked by gaining new abilities and indulging in more 'demon blood'. Another angel interfered with his search, causing the vessel to compensate for two beings instead of one and was dragged along for various adventures. Until they found a gateway to "below", which he betrayed his 'allies' and switched sides. He's a fallen arch-angel now and enjoying his new life in a body of his own, but he has to deal with some interesting opponents from time to time.

Location(s): Home in Locke, visits Las Vegas for additional work (through the night to occupy himself)

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: Extended family (grandfather on dad's side is very religious), old class-mates from elementary to high school (although Xander's family moved about every few years), military relationship with him, his brother or father. Ex-roomates or ex-boyfriends / girlfriends. Regulars that frequent the bakery section or co-workers. Anyone that he might have saved during the Wise Snake or Possessed Car or Refined Shell events via the shadows.

Open/Wanted CR: I'm open to any type of CR.
Although, he can be a bit socially awkward at first if it is a friendly conversation since he tends to distance himself from others. He gets better over time, especially now that he's echoed back being more sociable.

Hooks: He usually keeps to the bakery section of his work place in Locke or the appropriate aisles if he's out getting ingredients. He's usually seen walking everywhere unless he's using his shadow mimicry to travel longer distances.

Plans/ongoing character plots: I have nothing really planned with Xander and sadly this has been going on for several months. So, I'm open to ideas. Although he's presently in a log with Stefan and bound to be discussing echoes.

Character: Lazarus "L" Lawliet
Pre-Incarnation: L Lawliet from Death Note
Location(s): Locke City!
A blurb about them: Lazarus Lawliet was born in Locke City and raised by his uncle. He was a homeschooled chess prodigy who started college obscenely early, and then burned out extremely spectacularly. He's spent time in a mental hospital, was rejected from the police force when he left and tried to put his Criminal Justice degree to some use, and fell into a dark place following that where he attempted suicide and developed a few bad habits. When he started getting Pulses, he was living out the last months on his lease in a cheap apartment on a bad side of town, attempting to write a derivative and cheesy detective novel for the 17th time.

Since then, he's come into his own considerably. He moonlights as a private eye and started a business, purchasing a coffee shop and prioritizing hiring Numbered, regardless of how their echoes have affected their appearance. Recently, he purchased an ancient, bank-owned boarding school that he's been working to fix up, and this building currently houses the teleporter that connects the locations within echo boundaries, so it sees a lot of foot traffic. He's made the rooms available to those who need a place to crash or even a long-term roof over their heads, and though he has a reputation for being eccentric and odd, he has a close-knit group of loyal friends who can vouch for the fact that he puts the welfare of his Numbered brethren first.

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: Hit me up! If your character was staff or a patient in a psychiatric hospital (Locke City's own White Pines)between 2007 and 2009, they might have CR with Lazarus. If they're in their late teens or early twenties, they might remember him speaking to their school's chess club if they lived in or around Locke City at the time. If they played chess competitively, they might have gone up against him, and if they went through a wild or lost phase, they probably brushed elbows with him at a rager of a party between 2010 and 2012.

Open/Wanted CR: I'm open to anything. I like positive and negative CR; my character is endearing at times and abrasive at others, so things could go a lot of ways!

Hooks: Lazarus is interested in hiring people who are not necessarily well-suited to combat situations. Weaklings, computer nerds, tech-savvy people with bird bones... all are welcome at the intelligence center he has rigged up in the finished basement of his boarding school, where he lives. If you're planning to use the teleporter, you can and likely will run into him on the way there. If you've ever been to the notorious Espresso Yourself, you've probably seen or even been served by him (since he works behind the counter when he needs to). On his good days he's very productive and can be found in a lot of locations around the city.

Plans/ongoing character plots: L's trying to build a base of operations to better remotely handle the groundbreaking gamewide events. He has a fond brother/mentor relationship with Tony Sparado, of whom he is very protective, along with Nathan Brook, with whom he shares a common canon. He has recently started getting closer to Cesar Sanchez-Ortiz, and this may or may not spell disaster for him in the long run, but he's very content with the way things are going currently. He's probably, overall, happier than he's ever been, with more of a sense of purpose and joy for life than he had when he joined this game. Shaking that up, one way or another, is always welcome, but because I'm interested in playing him in a sequel or at least a big musebox after endgame, I'd prefer not to kill him. Aside from that... pretty much anything goes, for existing or new CR. I'm up for dynamic and I don't mind if it gets brutal, hit me up.

I have always wanted some more solid CR with L, but it's difficult to push these two guys together! Surprisingly, Liam has not been to a psychiatric hospital, so that's out.

Any thoughts in getting these guys more involved with each other?

Misa Amane | Death Note | Tabloid Journalist

Pre-Incarnation: Same, Death Note
Location(s): Locke City
A blurb about them: Misa just arrived in Locke City, and just arrived in the United States for that matter. She has plans of staying for a few weeks and finding out what she can while using up her savings/vacation time at the tabloid she works at back home. When she inevitably winds up too deep in this thing to be willing to leave, if she doesn't think ahead she's basically going to be broke and homeless. Also probably an illegal immigrant. BUT FOR NOW she's shacking up at a hotel and trying to unravel all the mysteries she can! She is an outgoing, curious girl in her 20s with a desire to become a great journalist that can affect change.

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: While Japan is a big place, if anyone else is from the Kyoto or Tokyo area it's possible they could have met. Otherwise, Misa would definitely enjoy having someone to talk to in her native tongue and bonding could happen over that! Other possible bonding topics: writing, journalism, dead parents, someone being willing to talk to her about wtf has been going on in this place.

Open/Wanted CR: ALL THE CR.

Hooks: Right now Misa's really trying to explore, so it would be logical for her to bump into someone just about anywhere!

I'll probably put up an open post for him soon since he is massively due for one, but if you're planning this with Misa I'm good at finding reasons for him to be places. That or they can plan something in their current thread, I'm easy. :)

Well, she will obviously run into Nathan somewhere. It's inevitable. He is not good at talking to people, but obviously that kind of little thing ain't gonna stop Misa, right?

Toushirou speaks pretty good Japanese (but is not fluent), and has dead parents. While he's not exactly secretive with other Numbered and thinks any of them should know what the hell is going on, he's still got his thing about not being the best person to talk to the press due to being kind of a brat. (Also, if Misa talks to him the way she's been talking to Floweregg, he will find her fantastically annoying and this amuses me. He haaaaaaaates being treated like a little kid. Too bad he'll look like one for a few centuries.)

Aaron Strider | Aragorn | Middle Earth: LOTR | Doctor

Character: Dr. Aaron Strider

Location(s): Locke, LSR clinic, in the bad part of town
A blurb about them: Aaron's an ex-army doc, paying his way through medical school by agreeing to serve in the military for an equivalent number of years. After his time was up, he traveled around the Middle East, then came back and started the charity clinic you all know and...well, know. He's really sketchy-looking -- the kids at the high school call him Doctor Strungout and think he's got a meth lab in the clinic -- but he turns no one away from that clinic, and if you take the time to get to know him, he's a really standup guy.

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: Most of his family is spoken for. His mother, Gillian, earned the ire of her respectable family by marrying Thornton, who had escaped his incredibly shitty family by joining the army. Relatives of Gillian and Thornton, though, are up for grabs. He attended undergrad in Boston, and I'd be so, so okay with someone being an old college friend. Acquaintances from the army are also excellent. If all else fails, you might have wound up in his clinic at some point. Finally, it's completely possible he's sold you weed in the past. It's damn good weed, never anything unexpected in it.

Open/Wanted CR: Mostly, I want friends -- though I'd be down for negative CR with the right person, especially if you're a Certain Kind of Army Person. Aaron is a goddamn hippie, and if you're the kind of person with a GO ARMY bumper sticker, he'll be less than kindly disposed towards you. Also, if you want to work at the clinic, you're completely welcome to. He's actually paying his employees now and tries to hire people who are in some kind of need -- supporting or helping to support families, in debt or some other trouble, things like that.

Hooks: College friends, distant family, army acquaintances, weed buyers, patients, and ex-relationships are all things I'm down for. Also, I'd love to have numbered Sketchy Connections -- Aaron has been cutting deals with the organized crime in the area for years, making sure he can operate without being tied to one particular gang. If you're on the wrong side of the law, he just might know you. Bonus points if you can forge an identity -- he's going to need that soon.

Plans/ongoing character plots: The clinic is going to be temporarily shut down by the police very soon, thanks to accusations from arrested criminals that Aaron had made deals with them (true) that he dealt drugs (not true for over a year) and that he killed people for money in the back of the clinic (absolutely false). It may reopen again in the charge of the (currently NPC) other doctor there, but Aaron will be echoing back Aragorn's physical appearance and will use that to disappear. From there, I want to get him involved in the game's big events. I'd love for him to get talking with the movers and shakers among the Numbered -- the ones who react and go out when crises happen.

I wanted CR with Aaron the last time you were here, and I still plan to hit up his open post, which I will do immediately after I finish typing this comment. I love your concept for him and I would love to latch onto the excited-about-Strider bandwagon.

For starters, L knows a guy who goes by "Mack," who's a decently well-known drug kingpin in Locke City and was L's primary dealer back when he was heavily using (between 2010 and 2013.) He's not above pulling strings or cutting moral or legal corners for what he perceives to be the greater good. He is also excellent at forging identities, and has done it for other characters before, so he's got Aaron covered if that's an angle you'd be interested in exploring.

Character: Stefan Yunas Alesci
Pre-Incarnation: Stefan Salvatore
Location(s): Locke City
A blurb about them: Stefan was a pre-med college junior at Princeton (and heavily involved in interfaith organizations in Locke) until he figured out he was a Numbered. He's currently taking the semester off to figure out his next course of action - besides studying for the MCAT and lounging around the house since he never officially told his parents he was taking a leave of absence.

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: Stefan's family is mostly accounted for [his parents and his younger sister Olette live in Boston], but if anyone is interested in playing his older brother or extended family members, I would be keen on it! Beyond that, Stefan attended Locke City High so former classmates, ex-girlfriends, old family friends, etc. is all fair game! I don't think anyone has Muslim characters in-game, but Stefan would've definitely known of them if they were involved in the Muslim community at any point in time.

Open/Wanted CR: I want it all, but if I had to be more specific: I'm interested in developing mentor-pupil type relationships, whether Stefan is the mentor to a younger character OR Stefan is the pupil to an older character. In general, Stefan could always use more friends (especially while he's sociable, as future Echoes will make him more reserved).

Hooks: Stefan's at the masjid every Friday (and can often be spotted at various churches for interfaith meetings). Outside of that, he frequents the library and various coffee shops and can even be spotted doing mundane tasks - grocery shopping, anyone? Now that he has the semester off, he's looking into volunteering at various hospitals and/or research labs [he majors in Biology], so that might be another place to find him.

Plans/ongoing character plots: Stefan's taking a break from school! This, coupled with a few Echoes I plan on giving him, will make him rather irritable and guilty all at once - and hopefully this may culminate in him becoming a vampire again? I'm iffy on the details, but if your character knows how important Stefan's education is to him, this is definitely something we should talk about.

Anything Else?: Not at the moment!

We don't have CR yet, and I would really like to change that! L makes an effort to try to at least know who everyone is, so I'd be really interested in them meeting. They don't have a lot in common religiously (L's Jewish) so I don't think they'd meet this way, but the school he bought and renovated houses the Numbered's main mode of transportation and he sort of collects mentors and mentees. Even if that's not in the cards for Stefan and L, his school and his business (the coffee shop Espresso Yourself) are both good hubs for mingling, so both are definitely ways he could meet new people.

Pre-Incarnation: Near (Nate River, N, L) from Death Note

A blurb about them:

Nathan is a few months removed from a really abusive family situation. He'd been so close to going off to college, man. Too bad the scholarship process fell through and he got thrown out by his dad on his 18th birthday, huh? He's managed to get on his feet enough to have an extremely boring low-level job and a little apartment in a not-so-great neighbourhood. One or both of those things may soon be changing because L is a big old worrywart who has offered him a better situation.

He's extremely bright, but kind of a trainwreck in dealing with people on bad days. And he's full of anxiety issues and is super cautious. He's actually had his number since November and never contacted anyone until the end of January because all this shit is scary. No, he hasn't even gone into Expresso Yourself. You've all seen what goes down there. Damn place is a death trap.

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: He comes from a poorer area of town, so anybody who went to (or taught) school or hung around in those kinds of area might have met him when he was younger. He joined a lot of clubs at school since he was afraid to go home, so there are theoretically some possibilities there.

Open/Wanted CR: GIMME IT ALL. Nathan is a very lonely young fellow and he needs people. Mentors or nurturing types are super amazing and needed. Intellectual folk. People his own age to maybe get him to live a little. Friends, people who may be put off by his lacking social skills. Whatever, man. Gimme.

Hooks: Whether he winds up living there or not, Nathan will probably be hanging out at Willow Ridge Boarding Academy a lot. He's got a history with L, so anyone involved with him in a significant way will see him around. He'll mostly be pinged by anyone trying to figure out what the hell is going on when stuff happens; his brain is wired to try and figure shit out and he really wants to understand things. When he doesn't understand, it's bad for his anxiety. He's not the most inclined to get physically involved with stuff, but if you need a thinker? He's here.

Plans/ongoing character plots: I don't have too much specific here except for the fact that he's gonna be trying to make sure L doesn't get his dumb butt killed in some way. I'm pretty wide open for him, really.

Anything Else?: C'mon, don't you wanna play with this adorable thing?

As you're aware he's working on fixing the lonely by introducing him to other charming young men, and he will keep doing that because Nathan is the next Einstein Jesus gonna change the world Wammy's style clearly very important. He always needs a thinker and if Nathan lets him, he'll hook him up with a much more interesting job and a room he can litter with as many legos as his heart desires.

A blurb about them: Spoilt rich boy who runs an art gallery and paints and Liam Benedict's father. He's cheerful and ditzy and smarter than you think, and he's only just met you but he loves you. But he loves his wife Lisa more okay, so don't go getting funny ideas

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: Lisa someone play Lisa. Or their poor long-suffering Limo driver, who can also drive a helicopter and a light plane because yes, they are that rich. Any artists who are reasonably well known? He's probably very supportive of the indie, private scene as well as big name famous people, and tends to favour landscapes over abstracts on a personal level. Rich people in general XD

Open/Wanted CR: nothing specific just BE HIS FRAND LET HIM PAINT YOU

Hooks: Arnold probably will be staging a small exhibition of his recent artwork in Locke at some point, and he's always looking for inspiration, so is likely to be out and about once Liam is over his recent 'flu looking for things to paint. If you are interesting, he will want to paint you. If there is an interesting building, he will want to paint it. Heck, he'll probably be quite happy sitting in the park and painting, so just tell me how you want him XD

Numbered hub/headquarters/teleporter location is an old, Victorian-era boarding school that is a very interesting building. It's had a lot of recent work put into it and a lot of stories already from its latest revival, so he should totally come by and ask to paint it, or parts of it, or people in it.

Pre-Incarnation: Yuuya/Hatoful Boyfriend
Location(s): He likes the first three echo zones best.
A blurb about them: The cheerful, colorful young man has become a pigeon the size of a small horse. He's not happy about that but says he's good, can you please ignore it.

Does a certain amount of PR, liases with the mayor of Fussen, also makes money working for Liam. He's a public face of the Numbered, thanks to being friendly and usually able to come off as harmless and well-meaning.

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: Julien's traveled a lot through the States and is very friendly and personable. Old friends, from Locke or elsewhere, are always welcome! I also wouldn't mind relatives, but we'd have to talk!

Open/Wanted CR: Nothing in particular!

Hooks: He flies around a lot? Julien likes people easily and likes to give comfort and advice, or play and tease.

Anything Else?: Should probably get on that request to investigate Neuschwanstein Castle.

Pre-Incarnation: Hajime Aikawa/Kamen Rider Chalice from Kamen Rider Blade
Location(s): He's pretty solidly based in Locke City, though he's visited the other places.
A blurb about them: In canon, he's a Kamen Rider. Here, he's turned into a monster bug and sort of accidentally adopted the persona of "The Lord of the Bugmen" in dealing with the public in that form.

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: Hajime was born and raised in Locke, so people he knew in school would be possible. Restaurant customers would also be possible avenues for existing CR, as would members of his extended family. He's also gone out in his Rider form and beat up a few thugs here and there, so if you've got a thug of some sort you're bringing in...

Open/Wanted CR: He's been on the network since it went live, and he's trying to make the most out of being a monster. CR with other people who are turning into things that aren't human is always a plus.

Hooks: He can most often be found in his human form at Aikawa's, his family's restaurant in Locke's Japantown. Every so often, he can also be found out and about as the Lord of the Bugmen, because it's easier for a painfully responsible guy to do stupid stuff when you feel like you're wearing a giant mask and can claim not to understand how humans do things.

Plans/ongoing character plots: The only really big plans I've got for him by the end of the game would be to Echo back the last of his Rouse Cards so he can transform into the more powerful form of Wild Chalice. He's also got a few memories he needs to get back and probably angst over to make that really effective before things wrap up.

Pre-Incarnation: AQUAMAN from Batman: The Brave and the Bold

A blurb about them: Arthur is the OUTRAGEOUS reincarnation of AQUAMAN, KING OF THE SEVEN SEAS. He talks to fish, he breathes underwater, and he loves every second of it. The super-strength and partial invulnerability are nice bonuses, too. He's echoed back a superhero suit, and he'll wear it every chance he gets.

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: The Curry family is large and widespread, so there's a possibility there. Arthur's also had a great many jobs before his current Elvis impersonator one, the most recent being as a school bus driver in Locke.

Open/Wanted CR: Does your character need to be outrageously roused? Do they have anything at all to do with the ocean or other large bodies of water? Then Arthur needs to meet them!

Hooks: Even if it's the middle of February, Arthur has been swimming out in any body of water that'll have him, up to and including swimming in the chilly Finland air. He's also, as I said before, an ordained minister (he got ordained online in five minutes!) and Elvis impersonator at a drive-thru chapel in Vegas, if your character needs to stumble into something weird or is prone to making the sorts of decisions that would lead them to a drive-thru chapel for whatever reason.

Plans/ongoing character plots: The sad thing is I haven't actually been having Arthur get up to too much lately, and I need to change that. That said, I've been stalling on ideas for him, and I might need a little help getting him thrown into the thick of things again.

Anything Else?: I am up for anything and everything that involves mayhem out near bodies of water or aquariums or jetski dealerships or anything of the sort, just sayin'.

Sealonging is a thing for Liam and he does go out to Locke to hang out by the beach now and then! Chance encounter? Arthur did give him an echo of a song about sealonging, so that could come up.

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: Before he got the numbers, he was a normal endangered parrot in a zoo aviary. Not too much potential CR there, unless your character worked at the zoo. (I'd love this.)

Open/Wanted CR: Torin can and will mentor at anything or anyone that needs to be mentored at, even if he's only seven years old. He likes swords a lot, and he's willing to train anyone who needs training.

Hooks: He's a manager over at Espresso Yourself, and he's also recently adopted a trio of parrots.

Plans/ongoing character plots: At some point in the hopefully near future (like the next time he gets a Tier 2 Echo, possibly), he'll be getting an item that will let him pass as a human for a single night. Kind of like Cinderella, only he's really not looking to get married. He's also in possession of a giant dinosaur robot that's presumably chilling with the FBI, and I haven't done a whole lot with that yet.
