How would fandom get it wrong?

Post a comment with your character journal explaining generally what the twisted and horrible fanon version of your character is. What less significant personality traits do they fixate on? How do the thirteen-year-olds on fanfiction.net write them? Who are they shipped with ad nauseum? What are they like in Omegaverse?

Mordin is presented as this wise councilor to Aaron who helps him through all his relationship troubles when in reality he's just

"Want pamphlets on various sexual positions? No? As you wish."

Mordin is the best friend author-surrogate who quirkily gives all the advice that will lead him to the outcome the shippers want.

So quirky.

So well-meaning.

So obsessed with science.



...there's tons of crackfic where Mordin is shipped with science itself.

Eventually it becomes fanon that Mordin is in a relationship with science, and it starts showing up everywhere: fic, amvs, fanart, etc.

At some point, someone draws Mordin and Aaron together as a joke:

"Oh, Mordin-sempai, you always give such great advice."

"Only for you, Aaron."

It becomes a surprisingly popular ship.

it becomes fandom headcanon: "yeah they're totally banging"

oh god people write dramatic breakup fanfics where mordin discovers that aaron's selling weed and goes "Violation of medical ethics!"

he did what he had to do to keep the clinic afloat, he's not proud of it, he kept it as separate from the clinic itself as he could...!

I feel the fandom would be split into two camps: there are the ones who ship him anyway and the ones who cry ace erasure when he is shipped.
