[test] THIS WEATHER IS RIDICULOUS

Random scenario test drive meme. Some prompts:
> Ah god it's so hot and muggy how awful!
> The worst thing about summer cold snaps: you don't usually have your windbreaker handy because it's been so damn hot.
> The wind is perverse and trying to steal your things and/or crash stuff into you.
> It's raining wet vermy-things, as if the hail and possible storm wasn't bad enough. Now you have rain-echoes to deal with, at best.
> A nice day? I guess those exist?

So where are you?
> Caught way out in the open! At the beach, in the steet, at a fair, anywhere.
> Taking shelter! Bus stop, club you wouldn't normally frequent, bridge underpass, any port in a storm, any shade from the deathsun.
> In the mall or somewhere comfortably out of the elements, you lucky sunuvanek.
> Somewhere... else? idk, do what you want!

Have at thee!

[ — let loose into this world as one Marie Makinami-Young, is decidedly Not Dressed for this weather, but all was fair in love and war and the right to wear some really sweet kicks while traipsing around on the corpses of your enemies, and she's putting them to good use doing just that. She leaps about in the rain like a freak, wielding a rather soggy-looking math textbook as a bludgeon against any vermy-things unlucky enough to fall from the sky within her range. ]

Hiiiiiii-YA! [ BLAM, no more fuzzball. ] And that's for making my vision go all screwy, fluffy little bastard!

[Well then. She looks like she's been doing this for a while. Rei had just come jogging across the scene, splashing and splashing away under her black umbrella. Rei could handle herself in situations like these, so she didn't feel any need to race home. Thus she could stop and take in the spectacle that is Mari going to down on these vermy guys.]

At least somebody seems to be enjoying it...[She mutters softly to herself, watching another few creatures fall prey to the cold hard hammer that is algebra.]

Enjoying? This is an all — [ THUMP ] — out — [ KER-SWACK ] — counterattack! [ Looks like her vision may have suffered a blow, but her hearing's just fine. In demonstration, she slams her book down with a sopping wet THWACK on another demon dandelion puff, and jumps on top of it for good measure.

With a debonair grin, she pushes her glasses up the bridge of her nose, even when they've started to fog.
]

But you could say I'm enjoying it. The little beasties die pretty easily!

[ And as an afterthought, though no less heartfelt: ]

Hi there.

["Interesting person" quickly turns into "Possibly dangerous person"

Rei takes a precautionary step backwards. Okay weird bloodthirsty person maybe making a passing comment at you wasn't such a good idea.]

...You could go home like everyone else. [You know, instead of staying here and smashing them with a math text. She glances to the side in a "how dumb and or insane must this girl actually be?" type of way.]
unarm: (oh dear god)

[ At this girl's reaction to her stunning victory, Marie's expression clears up, smile mellowing out to something resembling normalcy. She steps off of her math text with a little bounce, bending over to retrieve it. No blood or guts emerge from underfoot, just a quick puff of steam. ]

Eesh, hard to believe they're actually alive when they do stuff like that, huh?

[ Tucking the wet book under her equally wet arm, she regards her company again with a once over. ]

I was on my way, but I just couldn't resist when these guys started coming down. [ Tutting, she sing-songs: ] One good turn deserves another, and all that!

[Rei stares silently. What a weird girl. This is the kind of person the people at school should be making fun of, not her.

Not that she cares. Rei spins her umbrella, causing the rain that has begun to pool to fly off in a large spatter.]

I see.

[Her body begins moving again, heading to walk past Mari.]

There's a hornet's nest by my house. Feel free to show up if you can't resist your primal instincts to slaughter again. [She says it quietly, without tone. It's probably difficult to discern whether she's taunting Mari or legitimately asking for help.]
unarm: (right well that begs the question of)

[personal profile] unarm 2013-07-17 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, frosty! [ More of an observation than a judgment, in kind. She flicks some of her wet hair from her shoulder. ] But nice metaphor! Think I'm the type to go kicking hornets' nests, hmmm?

[ We are neither confirming nor denying.

Unsurprisingly, all it takes is a skip and she's tagging along. INTEREST ENGAGED.
]

Hornets aren't going to slaughter us eventually, however!

The type to hit it with a math book, actually.

If they could, they would. [She says matter-of-factly while lifting up the umbrella to let Mari under. Rei doesn't particularly like strangers, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have various shreds of human decency lying around in here.]

Go ahead.
unarm: (well at least he's okay)

[personal profile] unarm 2013-07-17 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
If you're going to brute force it, might as well be in a way no one expects, no? [ Marie watches the umbrella tilt in a way that might accommodate two, and waltzes under. ] Merci.

[ Life's little curve balls were funny. One minute you're murdering alien life forms, the next you're sharing an umbrella with a stranger, watching the soggy wet little spores sporadically make landfall. ]

Anyway, I'm taking an educated guess when I say that you've probably never been touched by one of those fuzzballs.
