[test] THIS WEATHER IS RIDICULOUS

Random scenario test drive meme. Some prompts:
> Ah god it's so hot and muggy how awful!
> The worst thing about summer cold snaps: you don't usually have your windbreaker handy because it's been so damn hot.
> The wind is perverse and trying to steal your things and/or crash stuff into you.
> It's raining wet vermy-things, as if the hail and possible storm wasn't bad enough. Now you have rain-echoes to deal with, at best.
> A nice day? I guess those exist?
So where are you?
> Caught way out in the open! At the beach, in the steet, at a fair, anywhere.
> Taking shelter! Bus stop, club you wouldn't normally frequent, bridge underpass, any port in a storm, any shade from the deathsun.
> In the mall or somewhere comfortably out of the elements, you lucky sunuvanek.
> Somewhere... else? idk, do what you want!
Have at thee!

Well, we're about to climb that tree. I hope for your sake you're right.
[If he has to call the ambulance because you fell out of a tree and broke your leg or something again, he's not spending any more money on Get Well Soon cards for you.]
no subject
With Roy's agreement though, he's instantly 200% less defensive. Score.]
We'll be all right! Haven't I climbed this tree a ton of times? [And if it is locked...] It won't be locked!
[That said, he heads straight for the tree.]
no subject
Want me to stay down here or follow you up?
no subject
But if we're going in, you're gonna have to climb up, too. [Because opening the door from the inside just doesn't register as a possibility, apparently. As he says it though, he's already getting some solid footing on the tree, pulling himself up.]
What are you gonna do down there? Come with me!
no subject
Or go home. Sigh.]
Alright, alright. I'm coming. [His nice clothes are going to be all ruined. Roy waits for Vaughn to move out of the way before hoisting himself up fairly easily. Much more easily than you'd expect from a disgusting yuppie-in-training.
Being Vaughn's friend since childhood will, of course, give a person plenty of practice in navigating obstacles.
no subject
Vaughn doesn't bother to look down to check how Roy-- or his clothes-- is faring. He's climbed enough trees with him to know he'll be fine. Then again, he's also overconfident enough to be wholly convinced nothing will go wrong.
He hoists himself up once he reaches the window, reaches for it, pulls... and accomplishes absolutely nothing.
..............Oh.]
...It's locked.
no subject
I told you.
no subject
With a groan, he leans his head against the window, ignoring Roy for the moment. Breaking a window would be a majorly bad idea, wouldn't it? Even he knows that.]
It's not that cool up here either.
no subject
This is just great. It's not like Roy forgot his keys, why does he have to be stuck out here t-
Oh. Duh.]
Do you just want to come to my house until your parents come back? Mom and David are out for the day, anyway.
[He and his stepfather might have finally worked out their differences, but you still couldn't pay Roy to call him "Dad".]
no subject
--And he's going to run to his friend's house while his mom and stepdad are away to get out of the heat, because he locked himself out of his own house while his parent's were away.
It's too hot to do otherwise.
He barely wastes a moment before he's nodding, motioning for Roy to move so he can climb down the tree.]
Them, too? Heh, then they won't mind if we're there for a while, will they?
Let's go!
no subject
I'm pretty sure they're used to you by now, anyway.
[He wastes no time scrambling down the tree, eager to get back to his house. He's not even waiting for you, Vaughn, catch up when you can.]
no subject
He follows after him, barely paying attention to where his feet land. He's climbed up and down this tree so many times he barely has to look.
When he's almost all the way down, he says,] Thanks for that. I didn't really wanna wait here in the sun till my parents got home!
[It's all worked out instead. He totally knew it would!!]
no subject
He does, however, wave his hand loosely at Vaughn's remark in acknowledgment.]
Well...I couldn't just leave you there.
[But it was tempting. It was oh so tempting.
They still have a couple of blocks to go before they reach his house. Hmm, conversation starters...]
So...what have you been doing?
no subject
Getting ready, I guess. My parents want me to have a good start in college...
["Vaughn, you have to study more than you did in high school." "Vaughn, you can't run off at 2am when you have class in the morning." Etc. Etc...
He shrugs.] Everything you already did!
no subject
Everything I did, you say? Think you're ready for it, then?
no subject
Of course I am! It'll be fine. You know I won't have any trouble.
no subject
Yes. I believe you.
[Anything else he was going to say stops as they've finally reached Roy's house. He takes out his own key, thankfully not forgotten, and puts it into the lock...then pauses suddenly and presses his ear against the door with a frown.
...Is that...panting he hears?]
...Oh no.
no subject
Slowly, Vaughn moves forward, frowning just the slightest bit.]
What? Did you leave your music on?
[He doesn't think he hears any mournful wailing...]
