TEST DRIVE MEME: Good weather?

IT'S SPRING
I almost literally can't believe it isn't snowing right now just to piss me off.

How it Works
Due to the nature of Save the Earth, it's a more complicated process to play in than most other games. With this in mind, it can't hurt to experiment a little.

Post your character and in the comment share a few details regarding their reincarnation. Repeat if you have multiple ideas you want to try out, as many as you like. It's also suggested that you set a scene and there's a few prompts below to help there, but think outside the box if you like. Then tag around to other threads and help your fellow prospective players to test out their characters and the variations on them. Don't be afraid to presume a little CR to make a scene flow more freely, or to assume an Echo or two. If you have an app, complete or in progress, you might want to link it.

Current players may also use these meme to test out specific future Echoes, or as a general meme. Certain scenarios may even be transferred to game canon if both parties agree and it does not conflict with in game events.

Abandoning all paranoia, everyone has turned up at a barbecue. It's the wildest party imaginable.

Apparently Locke City has one. I bet it's nice.

All that nature out there can be visited too.
The Street
Oh man, this is the worst location prompt ever. I apologise.

Prompt 2: Event
Suddenly, Rain
And here's you in just a white shirt and short shorts.
A Public Echo
One of those places up there triggers an inexplicable Echo. Are you going to have to grab a hat to hide those new horns? Maybe it's even your first.
A Date
I hear nice weather gets people in the mood for romance. I'm against it, personally.
Here on Business
Mysterious goings on have been detected in the area and it's your job to check them out. Some suggested shenanigans could include plants that try to eat people, a red herring new statue or maybe this thing popping out from behind a bush to play a saxophone in an irritating manner. Go nuts.
Getting Used to a New Echo
Maybe this one is a pain in the butt, either if because it's noticeable or hard to control. Or maybe you just like to practice.
Everything is Normal
Things aren't bizarre 24/7, you know.
Alien Invasion
The Martians* are attacking! They want our brains/world/women/hot dogs. Take these freaks out... or cower in terror.

*Martians are not actual Save the Earth villains.

[The small group of teens all start talking amongst themselves. Amongst catcalls of "Do it man! DO IT FOR THE JEWELS!" and "You can't lose, less it's a'ready gone. It aint right?" and "Aw man, I don't wanna see that shit! Do it at home!" there were a few half reasonable "Shit man, that's TOO crazy." and "Dudddddddddddddddddde. Bro! Think about this shit."

For his part, Tadashi has sunk back, face in the cover of his palm. His shoulders are shaking visibly as James starts pulling off his t-shirt.]

[Nobody could really be this drunk--could they? Kenji is having a hard time maintaining his poker face, but it doesn't seem to matter anymore; none of them are really paying attention, anyway. And when James tears off down the beach, trailing clothing and drunken friends behind him, he gives up entirely and flops onto his back, laughing wildly. It's such a relief, after holding it in for so long.

Further up the beach, a few outraged feminine shrieks punctuate the night, marking the progress of the nude bandidoes, which just makes him laugh harder. It's a few minutes before he can speak again, and when he does, it's between gasps for air.]

Oh man! That was fucking stellar!

[Tadashi just folds over himself, arms wrapped around his side as he breaks into all out, loud laughter. That was... did he really?]

HAHAH- That... Seriously man, how did you keep that up? I am gonna die.

[Still trying to catch his breath; shakes his head.]

I dunno, man... I still can't believe they bought it--I mean, how drunk are they?

[And another faint shriek is heard from even further up the beach, and he's off to the races again.]

[He was all set to answer that when the offending nudie parade shocked another beach goer. Set off into another fit of laughter, it takes a few to get it back under control. He rubs the tears out of the corners of his eyes.]

Oh pretty much hammered. Baby's first kegger and all, you know how that shit goes. [He fishes a small ring of keys out of his pocket and jiggles them.] I figured, hey, if I've gotta wait out their fit of moron they've got going on, might as well get some food and laughs out of it.

Designated driver, huh? Yeah, I guess they owe you some entertainment for that.

[Food. The magic word. Kenji hasn't eaten in at least a couple of hours, so of course he's starving.]

Oh, hey, speaking of food... wanna grab something to eat while your buds are out shocking the locals? I'm about due for a refill, myself.

Would I? I've been sitting here smelling those burgers grill up thinking my stomach is gonna revolt and strangle my spinal cord in rebellion.

[He stands up and offers a hand down to Kenji.]

Yeah, me too.

[He takes the offered hand and pulls himself up onto his feet, then grabs his board, tucking it under one arm, 'cause yeah, no way he's leaving that behind unguarded.]

There's a concession stand over that way. Food's a little overpriced, but it's not too bad.

Over at Becky's? Heh, don't worry about it. Let me do the talking, right?

[Except he stops and takes a few steps back, getting a good look at Kenji's surfboard. He lets out a low whistle.] Surfing? Man, really? The waves have been crazy.

Sure, no problem. [He shrugs. If Tadashi has an in there, that works for him. He grins at that last.] Yeah. But that's the best time to surf.

... With the riptides. And sharks. And jellyfish.

[He just smiles and shrugs.]

It's worth it.

[And that pretty much says it all as far as he's concerned.]

Crazy people out there, I tell you. Crazy. [Talking more to himself, he doesn't give Kenji a chance to reply as the small seaside stall comes into sight.]

[He bounds up ahead as the heavyset woman at the grills breaks into a wide, easy grin. "TADA! Where have you been?"

"Ah, here and there, you know how it is! Roberto minding the posts tonight or watching the kids?"

"Ach, you know, he's out doing his fair share. We can't have a hand less on the holidays." She leans over the counter, grabbing a handful of his jacket at the shoulder. "You're keeping out of trouble, yes?"

"Yes'm! Yes'm!" He stumbles forward obligingly, waving his hands. "I wouldn't think of making his job harder! I just ... got a smell of your home cooking and just had to stop by."

"Psh! Home cooking! You don't know what home cooking is! What is Aoko feeding you these days that you'd make that kind of mistake."

"Hey, hey. She's doing fine."

"You say that, but you're skinny as a rail! What am I gonna do with her?" She lets go of him and pulls out a plate, throwing hot fries on it before the bun. "And you, you should come back and work some more. I could use the help."

"Ahh, you know... Hey, wait, wait. I got a friend here with me. I really can't eat in front of him, and all."

"Well, at least you have some manners left in you." Becky regards Kenji from the where she is, her face scrunching up as she squints. "Hmph! He's about to blow away too. Get over here kiddo." She pulls out another plate.]

[Tadashi looks over his shoulder and waves Kenji over, grinning madly.]

Oi, Kobayashi, get over here. Don't mind him, ma'am, he's a bit shy.

[As far as he knew, shyness wasn't a particular problem for Kenji...but he'd agreed to let Tadashi do the talking, so...he walks up to the counter and stands there awkwardly, trying to look bashful. Hopefully this performance will be over soon before he breaks into a peal of loud laughter.]

["Ack, look at you, still a bit of baby chubs on the cheeks, huh? Well, wait right there, honey." She flutters a bit at him but seems a bit skittish of scaring him off. At least, it looks like the act is passing well.

The plates are piled up in front of them, far more of a portion than Kenji's eight dollars ever got him before. Tadashi makes a show of going for his wallet.]

How much do I owe you, Ms Lockharte?

["Don't you worry about it. But put in a word around will you? I need help this weekend."]

Ehh, yeah, I'll see what I can do. [He leans over to Becky and whispers. More than loud enough for Kenji to hear.] Ehh, I think he's blushing. You don't mind if we take off. We'll talk shop later.

[She bursts out into peals of laughter, and waves the two of them off. "I swear. Get going and don't you forget."]

[Tadashi grabs his plate and takes a few quick steps back.] Thanks! We'll bring these back!

[Kenji bobs his head in what he hopes passes for an awkward fashion and grabs the other plate, mumbling a low "Thanks, ma'am," before hightailing it after Tadashi. Once they're safely out of earshot, he's finally free to laugh.]

Man, you really are too much.

[odd_jobs]

[You get a slap on the back.] Man, you're not half-bad yourself.

Eh, she's not bad though. [He flops down into the sand and takes an enormous bite out of the burger.] Kinwa overbeawin n stuff. [He swallows.] But good enough sort if you get to know her.

Ahhh this is a good night though.

[Once again, he plants his board in the sand before settling onto the sand beside it. Grinning, he stuffs a few fries into his mouth. Yeah, he'd laid it on pretty thick, himself, but he had no regrets. It had been funny as hell. A good night indeed.]

Yeah it is. Best I've had in...hell, about a month and a half, I guess.

[He chews thoughtfully, counting back.]

No kidding? Guess the world hasn't finished with it's April Fools joke yet, then.

[Well, what the hell had he said that for? True, his companion had no idea what he really meant, but still, it was a lot healthier not to make even a veiled reference to network stuff.

But...April Fools joke? Maybe... Dammit! Somebody needed to come up with a code word or something. It would sure as hell make things a lot easier. Rutabaga was a good word that nobody used much.]

Uhh...yeah. It's been kinda crazy lately. End of year stuff--you know how it goes.

[Jeez, that was lame. He'd never worried about school at any time of year. But...well, this guy didn't know that, so maybe it'd pass.]

[Tadashi scowled a moment, mouth opening to say something... and closing again. It's only after another few bites that he seems to settle on something to say, for the first time this evening sounding awkward himself.]

Yeah, that. I guess if that's big on your list.

Uh...yeah.

[Desperately, he shoved the burger into his mouth before he said something else stupid. As he chewed, the awkward silence stretched between them. Well, he was no stranger to saying stupid shit, so just retreat, retrench, and move the hell on.]

So...uh...where do you think your friends went? They've had time to get halfway to California by now.
