image has nothing to do with anything

Random scenario test drive meme! For all you thinking about apping to our fair game. Because all our characters are the modern reincarnates of the people we canon reviewed for, you need a modern AU! Post your character with a couple details about who they are now. Use a prompt to set the scene! And tag around.

RAIN: The weather sucks and you gotta share a bus stop, overhang, or other cozy space with someone.

MONSTERS IN THE PARK: Doesn't really matter what they are, it's time to run and/or fight!

NEW ECHO: augh you were minding your own business in public and now you have feathers for hair, or you just had a vivid flashback to being a wizard, or suddenly you have your preincarnation's clothes on. Someone help! Or point and laugh, that works too.

NORMAL DAY AT THE MALL OR WHEREVER: Slice of life happens too!

WILD CARD: You can't be contained by these paltry prompts! Get out there and combine them or make your own!

Rain

[personal profile] noy_jitat 2013-10-22 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
[This is an Afro-Latina woman waiting at the bus stop. She looks to be about 19 - short and sturdy at 5'4". She is a first year student in their ROTC program, studying Biology to become an Ecologist after serving active duty. For now we'll still call her Tula.]

The weekend weighed heavily on Tula's mind - another weekend of balancing schoolwork and housework for the family. All the same, the patterns of droplets on the bus stop soothed her; she could never be angry when it rained. Too much of life depended on the rain seeping down into the Earth - and when she thought of how far those roots could carry plants, let alone animals, it softened her stress and helped remind her why all of her passions were important - friends, country, passion, family.

Even if her professor thought she'd be a better politician than an Ecologist.

"It's a nice thought, but it'd never happen. I'll stick with Ecology."

NORMAL DAY AT THE MALL OR WHEREVER (IT'S TOTALLY THE MALL)

[personal profile] demonichymn 2013-10-22 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Seeing young teenage boys at the mall isn't terribly uncommon. Yeah, yeah, usually it's girls, but still? Not too unheard of.

Usually, though, aren't they wearing shirts? And not carrying around a can of spray paint, sneakily tagging walls with a crown while laughing quietly to themselves?

Yeah, so, you've got another little punk on your hands. What do you do.]
ninthmelody: (Demyx [Grin])

i need to fix my icons but Normal day at the mall!

[personal profile] ninthmelody 2013-10-22 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Adam (for once) has a day where he isn't leading the LCH marching band, isn't recording/practicing with his band, and doesn't have five bajillion papers to grade. So what does he do? Goes to the mall and hangs out at the music store. Yup. Who wants to run into their band teacher??]
seconddraft: ([short] smug~)

dang half my icons are of him with short hair WHATEVER

[personal profile] seconddraft 2013-10-22 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
[moar like "who wants to run into one of the college librarians"

he's checking out classical and drone -- oh man is that a classical/drone fusion band? yes.

IT'S COOL.

[personal profile] ninthmelody 2013-10-22 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
[oh hey that looks cool. brb adam is going to be creeping on your music selection. this is socially acceptable, right?]

[His eyes narrow and for a moment he's about to be like NO but then...

... meh
]

It's a new group. Or, well, not new, precisely, but they've just had enough success to make it to a big name record store. Sonorous Drown, they're a drone/classical group.

Kim Ross / Kimiko Sarai Kusanagi // Dresden Codak

[personal profile] autodidacticrobogirl 2013-10-22 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Kimberly Ross, half-Japanese, all woman. She owns that garage you sometimes drive by, you know the one. It's a little antique and there are still flakes of the old fashioned gilt sticking to the filigree, in the corners where the pigeons can't land on them, and the rain doesn't easily drip. She's short, and frumpish and tends to wear long sleeves, even when the weather doesn't call for it.

Every now and then you see her wearing as little as is modest, wielding a hammer and wrench like the earthly incarnation of Hephaestus. She's got odd eyes, one of them blue rather than the usual color, and— oh, of course! Kim has only one leg. The other ends at the knee, replaced from there downward with a carbon-fiber recurve leg. Maybe you've seen someone like that in the Paralympics, on TV. Maybe you never noticed the leg at all; after all, it's not like she lets it slow her down.

Kim Ross. Yeah, you remember her now. The Mechanic.

Waitin' For the Bus in the Rain (in the rain)

[personal profile] autodidacticrobogirl 2013-10-22 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
[One Kim Ross was not best pleased. For one, she was a mechanic, both by inclination and trade, and therefore waiting for the bus, for any bus, was beneath her. But on the other, there wasn't much for it; there wasn't exactly a way to fix the damn thing without parts, and in lieu of dignity, there was only the bus to get you home.

Well, you could have slept in the stupid car, of course. But that would've meant walking home the next morning anyways. The truest walk of shame that ever there was; no, even the bus was better. Even this indignity or standing in the rain with crossed arms, wet slowly turning your jacket black from the shoulders down, was better.

Stupid rain. Stupid fanbelt. Stupid fate.
]

Stupid, stupid stupid.

New Echo

[personal profile] autodidacticrobogirl 2013-10-22 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
[It always seemed so innocent, starting out. You woke up, like always, had a bite to eat, got to work. Then it was lunch, and the sun as beating down outside the cool cave of the garage and you thought to yourself, oh! I'll walk down to the deli.

Such a fool.

It was complacency like that that'd led Kim to where she stood, transfixed, while the screams echoed through her, and she saw herself looking down on a city on fire, gravel rooftop crunching under her feet— her feet! And then she turned, looked up, and the world was metal and red eyes and the fire leapt down from those eyes like a living thing, like a hungry sunbeam that was beating down on her now, and the pain was magnificent, transfixing, burning up and down her spine like an electric charge.
]

Oh god.

[Kim fell, and lay there in the gutter, trembling. What the hell was that? Her left arm went numb, and she lay there and retched against the memory of pain. Maybe she was dying. Maybe this was what a heart attack felt like.]

Help. Eicgh! S-somebody…oh god.
ninthmelody: (Demyx [Grin])

Have I seen you, before? ... I work in the university library...

Ryuko Matoi > Ryuko Kato | Kill la Kill

[personal profile] guitar_case_vagabond 2013-10-22 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
[17 years old, Ryuko is the newest student to join the brigade of shitty kids from Locke City High School. She's got a bad temper and no problems with throwing the first and last punch, although she's usually happy to mind her own business as long as nobody messes with her. Even though she's new, she's already the terror of the martial arts club at school.

Currently lives with her father and younger sister, with Locke City being the supposed last stop in a string of moves thanks to her father's job after losing her mother years ago. Something about a contract for some tech company in town, she didn't catch the name and doesn't care. She doesn't really buy the whole "settled down" bit and is more concerned with looking after her sister during their father's long work hours and making sure any bullies who mess with her stay good and pummeled.]

Option A: The Mall
[It's Saturday and Ryuko is at the mall like any self-respecting high school kid. You can catch her at the food court or walking up and down the metal and rock aisles of the music stores. Her headphones are blasting something loud and screamy and she has her usual grumpy look on her face. Dare you approach?]

Option B: The Rain
[Yep, it's raining and she's the least happy she's been all week. She's not going to go run under shelter though because fuck rain, that's why. Catch her stalking her way home through the downpour.]

Option C: C for Combo! New Echo and Monster Attack!
[It was a quiet day and Ryuko was just relaxing in the park, minding her own business when something happened. Who knows what it was but she zones out for a second and when she comes back to normal this thing is in her hands.]

Wha--

What?

WHAT?!

[HOLY SHIT WHERE DID THIS THING COME FROM?! SHE HAS TO HIDE THIS FUCKING THING AND-- wait, what's with all those weird looking cats staring her way?]

Option D
[The wild card option. Hit me with your best shot.]

[personal profile] seconddraft 2013-10-22 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Ian is a library assistant at Locke. He considers himself insanely lucky -- he got his MLS degree and somehow managed to land a job there, after doing his undergrad in neuropsychology and deciding that you know what? Libraries are awesome. ]

[Are you a student who is doing research? ORRRR are you encountering him at the local fancy frou-frou tea parlor on Main Street? WHO KNOWS]

[personal profile] ninthmelody 2013-10-22 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I haven't heard a lot of it, but it seems cool. And I like music.

Uh, I don't go the university that much. I'm the band teacher at Locke City High School. But I'm in an indie band and we perform around here sometimes...?

[HMM INDIE MUSICIANS]

Which indie band? Have you ever played at The Keyhole?

[Which is the funky-ass hipster coffee shop tea shop used bookstore slash music venue]

Also, I think some of the students I've talked to know you. The ones who always bring back the sheet music late...
ninthmelody: (Demyx [So fail])

[personal profile] ninthmelody 2013-10-22 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Once or twice, yea. [Insert name of band here. They're probably a little too close to hard rock for a tea shop/book store, but they've got some lighter stuff.

As for the students... he gives an awkward laugh, messing with his hair.]

I wouldn't be surprised...
seconddraft: ([zexion] masked)

[personal profile] seconddraft 2013-10-22 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Ah.

[Not really his style -- he is def. goth / drone / ambient / electronica / classical buuuuuuut...]

Yes, I think I've seen them play, once or twice.
ninthmelody: (Demyx [Grin])

[personal profile] ninthmelody 2013-10-22 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
[That's cool, he knows it's not for everyone. And he's classically trained, so technically he's played some of that too.]

Yea, we... don't really fit with the vibe there. I stayed around for some other sets, though, and they were pretty cool! [...Adam isn't super picky on genre.]
seconddraft: ([short] smug~)

[personal profile] seconddraft 2013-10-22 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I'm rather fond of the one violinist, Laura Silver -- the dubstep Mozart? Rather brilliant, in my estimation.

... I'm Ian, by the way.
ninthmelody: (Demyx [Grin])

Kara was an excitable girl, and this excitement ran deep when it came to her studies; unfortunately it also meant that when she was engrossed in research the time seemed to slip away from her, and before she realized it several hours had passed and the rainstorm she'd hoped to avoid was crashing down on Locke City.

It was unfortunate, but there was no way around it. Cradling her large stack of books to her chest like children, she tucked her head down and sprinted in the general direction of the bust stop. Kara's sport was wrestling, not track, but she hoped that desperation would help her reach her goal before getting too soggy.

She slid underneath the bus stop (or what she hoped was the bus stop) with an exasperated sigh. For all her speed she hadn't managed to avoid much, if any, of the rain, and her fire truck red hair was plastered over her eyes and onto every part of her body that it could reach. Careful not to jostle the books too much she reached up and attempted to free an eye; only then did she catch sight of the fact that she wasn't alone in her wait.

"Ah! I am sorry - I did not get you wet rushing in, did I?"
noy_jitat: (smile 02)

STARFIRE YESSSSSSS you are too

[personal profile] noy_jitat 2013-10-22 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh Tula was a little wet now, although most of it was on her hands. "I'm no worse for the wear because of it." She brushed her hands on her pants. "I'm not made of carbohydrates after all."

She smiled, but it was a little weary - knowing that such brazen geek-talk usually lost her more friends than it gained. Not that it changed how she spoke at all.
