The Train to STE Meme (SPOILERS for canon deaths)

You know those Train to the Afterlife memes? In STE the canon versions of all our characters are dead. What if there was a train bearing their spirits on to reincarnation here?

This is a meme where canon versions of the characters can interact. They all know they're dead. They may or may not remember just how they died, or how they got to be on this particular train. Doesn't matter if they'll be born decades apart - that just means some people disembark a little earlier than others. Go over brochures about what your new incarnation will be like, spontaneously turn or be human, try the snack cart, fail to convince the friendly but very busy conductor to give you a transfer, or simply chat.

You just can't stop the train, or leave it. Not yet.

[The Disciple, or Magdalene de Leon as she would be known in her next life is wandering slowly through the train as if in a dream. Her body has yet to change to human, but she at least has gone back to a younger age. Back to a healthier looking body instead of the weak, rattle thin thing she had become over the sweeps of isolation.

While she may be corporeal she almost seems like a ghost in the way she just drifts around people with a distance and utterly lost expression on her face, hand barely holding onto the brochure that had been stuffed into it.

Seven-seven years away from any sort of contact. Seven-seven years of a slowly degenerating mind and body. Her health was back but Di scarcely knew what to do with it and was certain this was all some conjuration of her sick mind. What else could it be? Here she was in some strange transportation device, surrounded by creatures she had never even heard of.

Dead. She was dead they had said. It wasn't a particularly upsetting fact--not at all, if this was all real. Just rather surreal. Yet it was the one thing that kept her feet moving. Despite her confusion and slow understanding of her situation and surroundings, there was a shred of hope. A shred of hope that she would see family long lost.]

"Are you all right?"

It's the aimlessness that's caught Vector's attention; normally it would pass him by, but the almost-forlorn aspects have prickled what bits of curiosity lie within the ancient mech.

Di has seen a lot of strange creatures thus far, but Vector most definitely takes the cake. While her world and time are far from behind in technology, such things are reserved only for the highest of highbloods and those in the military ranks who go around conquering planets.

So needless to say, a talking, sentient robot is a first for Di. It's enough to almost break her out of her reverie and she gives him an incredulous expression before looking around to see if anyone else is astounded by this before finally setting her eyes on him again.

"I'm," there is a moment of surprise at hearing her own voice, "confused."

Where he comes from, they're quite the norm.

Then again, it's one of the few such sections of reality that is. Still, he takes the confusion easily enough, calmly waiting for her to gather herself.

"How so?" he questions politely. Perhaps he can help.

"It has been so long since I've seen anyone. Or talked to anyone." It was part of the reason she had been so shocked to hear herself speak. After so little use she had thought it had been lost to her.

Right now it helped to actually have someone to focus on. A part of her was still reeling over the fact she was talking to someone who appeared to be a machine, but then everything about this place was strange.

She seemed to wake up a little more and her brow furrowed as she actually began to think over everything that had happened.

"Is it true that we are dead?" She didn't seem upset as the aspect. Considering she was inexplicably younger Di was willing to accept almost anything at this point.

Now that is something he can emphasize with. Vector nods slowly with an 'mmm' of understanding. "We are," he confirms. "At least, in a matter of speaking. Our memories live on, as we ourselves go to create new ones in another world."

Di never had an idea of what might come after death. Souls, afterlife, heaven and hell--those weren't really concepts that an olive blood thought about. She knew some of those of lower blood could have contact with the dead, and she knew that the Signless had had visions of a different life life but she always worried too much about the now.

Slowly her eyes fell towards the brochure in her hands and she frowned.

"Are you familiar with how this all works?"

[He's tired. It's the only thing he knows, barely able to stand as the train pulls up in front of him. He gets on without really knowing why. There's seats here, and he takes one without a thought. His body and mind are weary, but it doesn't show on his skin. He hasn't aged, the privilege denied him so many times, until he thought death would never come. He's so tired. He closes his eyes and forgets the world around him. He just wants to rest.]

[She is walking through compartments now and idly she looks at the ones with open doors. Some are packed. Some are completely empty. Some have one or two people. She ignores them all until she comes upon one with a very familiar figure.

And she can no longer move. Her feet don't take her away from him, but neither do they bring her nearer. The expression on her face is one of intense concentration, as if she's trying to figure something out.

Di has seen Psiioniic many times, but he had never been real. A figment of her addled mind as the ghosts of the Signless and Dolorosa had been.

She stays there at the threshold, struggling to speak up]

[The movement draws his attention, and he turns his head to look at her. Some small part of him is amazed at his own movement, so long denied the freedom to even turn his head. He doesn't react at the sight of her. He's seen her too and heard her voice, his own memories encoded in the memory banks of his battleship. Faces and figured he could look at over and over again, so he would never forget.]

[He's not sure she is real. He still doesn't believe any of this is real. Perhaps some strange dream, though he's never been allowed sleep before.]

Di..

[He calls out to her, almost without realizing it. He can speak to, it's been so long.]

Disciple.

[He calls her again, stressing the "psi" in her name, and he can't stop himself from smiling.]

[It's only when he calls her name that she finally seems to wake up.

Before she realizes it her feet are leading her towards him, vision beginning to get blurry. She takes a seat next to him, no longer caring whether this is reality or an illusion and wraps her arms around him a tight hug.]
