The Train to STE Meme (SPOILERS for canon deaths)

You know those Train to the Afterlife memes? In STE the canon versions of all our characters are dead. What if there was a train bearing their spirits on to reincarnation here?

This is a meme where canon versions of the characters can interact. They all know they're dead. They may or may not remember just how they died, or how they got to be on this particular train. Doesn't matter if they'll be born decades apart - that just means some people disembark a little earlier than others. Go over brochures about what your new incarnation will be like, spontaneously turn or be human, try the snack cart, fail to convince the friendly but very busy conductor to give you a transfer, or simply chat.

You just can't stop the train, or leave it. Not yet.

[While in the midst of debating how much of a joke the afterlife had to be for a brochure like this to even exist, one particular voice makes the debate stop dead in its tracks. Kratos' eyes widen as he tears his eyes from the brochure and in the direction that unmistakable 'dad' had come from. Shame Yuan hadn't shared any of those shrooms with him lately because they would have served as the nicest explanation for the sight in front of him.

But no. This really is real, isn't it? The person heading straight for him really is...]

...Lloyd.

[His dear son, looking the same as the day when the worlds were reunited. Much as the rational side may know Lloyd lived well past that, it doesn't stop a small knot from forming in his stomach at the sight. Make that a small big knot.

How should this make him feel even? Happy to see Lloyd? Sad that his son obviously had to have died? Mad at himself for not recalling how or when that death happened? The emotion of choice thus becomes an expression mixed with both confusion and disbelief.]

[Hey, you're the one who left, not Lloyd's fault you don't have the details. He had just sort of assumed they were never going to meet again, so he hadn't really thought of what he should say if this ever happened. The look on Kratos' face certainly wasn't making him feel any better about this.

Then again, it wasn't like this was going to kill either of them...

Err, it's...good to see you.

[Ah, maybe that had been a bad expression to pick judging by the one Lloyd's giving him in return. Kratos offers his son a small, if weak smile. It isn't much, just enough to maybe make the situation less awkward.]

You, too. [pause] Well, as good as it can be seeing you here, of all places.

[No matter how long or fulfilling life Lloyd had lead, seeing him in the afterlife still oddly hurt. Humans die, but somehow realizing that your own son would die, has died leaves a bad taste in one's mouth.]
