The Train to STE Meme (SPOILERS for canon deaths)


You know those Train to the Afterlife memes? In STE the canon versions of all our characters are dead. What if there was a train bearing their spirits on to reincarnation here?

This is a meme where canon versions of the characters can interact. They all know they're dead. They may or may not remember just how they died, or how they got to be on this particular train. Doesn't matter if they'll be born decades apart - that just means some people disembark a little earlier than others. Go over brochures about what your new incarnation will be like, spontaneously turn or be human, try the snack cart, fail to convince the friendly but very busy conductor to give you a transfer, or simply chat.

You just can't stop the train, or leave it. Not yet.

[Bertholdt is content. A little apprehensive, but when isn't he? He sits next to Annie, staring straight ahead out the window of the train. He's dead, it's over. He can't hurt anyone else ever again. He'll never be a lot of things ever again. It's this sort of attitude that he mussed up the courage to sit next to the imposing little girl in the first place. That, and it's been so long since he's actually seen her he doesn't even care that they're dead. He might not like her like her, like Reiner thought, but he cares about her very deeply. Enough to want to be closer to her right now, in death, on the way to their next stop. Where ever it was taking them.]

Annie?

[His voice is quiet.]

Do you think we'll find each other again?

[shortspoken]

[ She doesn't react for a moment. Then she looks up at him thoughtfully before returning her attention forwards once more. ]

Maybe.

You're hard to miss.

[ She's not sure it will matter to the future her-who-isn't-her, so it's hard to even begin speculating. Still. What she said is true enough, at least. ]
