It's that time of year again! The unexpected smash-hit television series "Save the Earth" has just wrapped up its first season and once again the cast has returned to the convention world to answer questions, hint at upcoming events, debut showcase trailers, show never-before-seen behind the scenes footage and bloopers, and get up to all sorts of other stuff!


How To Play!
1. This meme assumes that all character canons don't exist in this reality. They've all been created for the show
2. Post with your character. You are now writing the character's "actor" in this strange meta-universe. Include their real name and a little bit about where they came from. Are they a fan favorite? A newcomer to television lucky enough to get their start on such a successful show?
3. Post anonymously (or not) to ask fan questions of other characters! Everything from the ordinary to shipping stuff to creepy and weird. Talk about the show, hint at characters' preincarnations and tease audiences about the crazy stuff future Echoes will bring. Talk about what actors you like to work with and who you can't stand to be around. Tell stories of pranks and shenanigans on set!
4. Or just do whatever you want to do. I don't know. I'm not your boss.

[ A bubbly young woman from Maine, her nerve and cutting sense of humor along with not a little bit of negotiating skill convinced the director to throw in a part for her in the very last second. Fatima spent three sleepless weeks collaborating with the writers to make a character that would fit well with the other characters in Locke City and integrate with the small alien cast moving into play within the story. Fatima herself is a gregarious kind of girl who smiles often and laughs harder than anyone else in the room, and is a self professed artist and writer trying to get her own script for a quirky Millennial dramedy off the ground. ]

[it's the great snake battle. there are cgi snakes, there are falling rubble and there is G in the mockup of his car that is suppose to be going at ridiculous speeds around corners and smacking into snakes. at this moment in time, the technicians were working on some of the rubble that wasn't falling right and G is sitting behind the wheel, making vrooom vroom noises while pretending to turn the wheel, a piece of pocky sticking out of his mouth instead of the cigarette he's smoking in the final scene.]

[it's a flashback scene, the memory of shou asking kei for help and the two bickering a little before kei shoves a cigarette into shou's mouth before someone tries to chop his head off. that part works perfectly, but as shou ducks under the swing, he slips and falls, practically doing the splits. people are being concerned that he's hurt since he's trying to cover his crotch when G starts yelling that his pants split open and he needs a towel or something.]

Akito Tanabe > Kai Tanabe

[Actually mixed Chinese-Japanese, but born in the US. He's a new actor whose past roles were all bit parts, primarily as Student J in the Background thanks to his young appearance despite being twenty-two. He's always been a big fan of movies and television, so while this isn't his first time to a convention, this is his first time as an actor.

He definitely walks around the convention floors (there's other shows he's interested in, after all!) and doesn't mind stopping for fans in the slightest when they're able to catch him... Not that it's especially difficult since he keeps his hair in basically the same style as Akito anyway. Much like the character he portrays, he's generally playful and enjoys teasing fans by giving varied reactions to whatever crazy theory they might ask about regarding future events regardless if it's something that will turn out to be true or not. He also more than likely has a reputation for showing up five minutes late to the sets with Starbucks, though lately he's gotten into the habit of paying for other peoples' coffee in apology.

When asked about getting the part, he's fond of retelling his story about actively pursuing the role for the sole reason of sharing a last name with the character in question.]

[ see this set? yes, that set. G had brought it on over and set it up in a side room as part of an elaborate gag involving letting cast members in costume to pose for pictures and tell the audience exactly why they should become rulers of the world. G himself will appear after a short while to sit in the throne and play up his Maou-sama persona, complete in the red leather and elaborate hair style and makeup that he wore during his last tour.

He can also be found in the guise of Shou - always flanked by a very well-built English speaking bodyguard - walking around the convention floor, asking questions, looking at things and being genuinely curious of the whole thing. If asked, he will sign anything for a fan or answer their questions. He is especially sweet towards children.]

[Richard has stopped to get a picture with every cosplayer, leading to one group shot that includes at least two cardboard cut out Diabounds stuck in the background and one plush version that Richard has carefully perched on his hair as he flashes a double victory sign to the camera.]]

[So everybody remember Luke's DRAMATIC HORSE RIDING HEROISM??? that I haven't played out yet orz Well Luke's actor (Nicholas Stimpson) had never so much seen a horse in person before this role. So here's a long montage of Nicholas out of costume and out of character learning to ride a horse convincingly enough for his close up shots. There's also a bit with Nicholas sitting and talking with his stunt double who gets his own montage of DRAMATIC HORSE SKILLZ before the two laugh and joke about how nervous Nicholas was initially. One final clip shows Nicholas atop a horse named Slick, kicking and kicking and doing everything he possibly can to try and get it to walk forward while it stands resolutely and flicks its ears in a most unimpressed fashion.]

Xander Jarle <-> Lloyd Terell

[Lloyd started out as an American model, then ventured in to acting as an extra before getting a role as a villain of the episode for one of those many crime scene shows. Since then, he's been doing a lot more photo shoots and takes on the occasional tv role of a minor or major character. He's usually easy-going and pleasant to work with, but can have the odd moment of mischievousness.

As he sits at the panel table, he smiles at the audience and occasionally glances to whomever is speaking at the time. He's willing to answer questions, but he can't exactly spoil too much about what is happening with his character.]

Season 2 Character Teaser

[The trailer begins with a black screen, the Save the Earth title fades in and out as low, ominous music begins playing. The video comes back in showing somebody watching news reports of the snake battle, sitting in a high-backed chair and facing away from the camera. Reporters and witnesses talking about "superheroes."]

[A voiceover begins, in a harsh, grating voice.]

Echoes, pulses, memories and abilities gifted by past lives, our "former selves." Call them what you will, attribute them to whatever you want, the simple truth remains...

[the camera shifts to a hand on the desk, skeletal and clawed, with skin drawn too tight over the bones]

... the Echoes are "power."

[Smash cut. The music picks up, and follows the owner of the hand as he walks through the hallways of a high-tech building, passing through security measures and entering an elevator as the voiceover continues. He's in shadow as he speaks, face hidden by the darkness of a deep hood.]

Power is the only thing that matters in this world. From the lowliest creatures of the world to the highest, those with power are destined to be the rulers of this world. Those who lack it, or the will to use it, are fated to be ruled.

[Lights flicker by as the elevator descends rapidly, briefly illuminating the speaker as the camera pans upwards. Both his hands are clawed with too-tight skin, his posture is slightly hunched, and despite the fine suit he's dressed in there are hints of sharp bony protrusions jutting from his elbows.]

There is no such thing as "too much" power. Nor is there such a thing as "enough." There is always, and only...

[The camera reaches his face and one final flash of light offers a brief glimpse of a grinning skull in his hood]

... more.

[The camera smashes to black and then comes back in with the speaker finally reaching his destination, standing on a railed landing at the front of a massive, subterranean chamber. He begins to laugh, quietly at first and the camera starts to pull back, revealing rows and rows of hundreds of cages. His laughter grows in volume, rising above the growls and snarls of the creatures locked up in these pens, the music swells and then the teaser comes to an abrupt halt.]

[Everything is black. There's nothing really to be seen at this second. But, slowly, a faint light seems to emanate through the darkness. The light forms into what appear to be wings, transparent and glistening brightly with the colors of the rainbow. The light vibrating off each piece of these wings formed of light.

The wings highlight a person's back from head to toe with blond hair.

Only one thing is said in this very short teaser:]

My dream of a world for my sister and me...

[And it cuts to black.]

Luke Kokiren (teen) --> Nicholas Stimpson

[Nicholas isn't new to acting, but he was largely unknown before being cast to STE. He's been in small budget movies here and there, but this is by far the largest and most popular production he's ever been a part of. As is often the case he's significantly older than the character he's playing. Luke's "18" but Nicholas is 26. He's happily walking the convention floor, posing for pictures and engaging with the fans, but the best part is that he's doing it all in full costume.]

Alexander Varista --> Bailey Yates

[ Bailey is a thirty-something actor who had dived into Save the Earth right after wrapping up a commitment to another TV series on a different station. A modern/fantasy crossover, he played a deluded, society-hating cannibalistic villain hellbent on returning the world to its 'proper' state. That role had been his big break. True to fandom, that character has also been subjected to a lot of woobification.

As the STE writers had hoped, Bailey has also done well in the more sane role of Alexander Varista. There were initial concerns that someone who really shone as a dark character wouldn't be able to pull of a lighter one, but Bailey's pulled off Alexander's shift between somberness and humor quite smoothly.

His wife cameoed as Alexander's wife early in the series. They have a dog, but no children. Out of character, Bailey appears to be somewhat reserved, not nearly as talkative as Alex, but carries a quiet sense of humor that comes out more through actions than words. He's a cool cucumber who gets along with everyone, rarely ruffled up, so when he does get angry, it's a very subtle change in atmosphere that tends to keep people on their toes around him.

Then the air warms up, things return to normal, but you're left wondering if things are really alright or if he's covertly planning your demise. ]

[Near the end of the horse related shenanigans, there's a clip of Arslan talking about Nicholas and how, while he wasn't around for most of that shooting, the co-stars did swap stories after-the-fact. Arslan explains his last film involved some horseback riding and really, they are big animals. It can be intimidating! He never got paired with a horse quite as stubborn as Slick tho, hehe.]

Areonwen the Arabian Horse --> Mary Louise Gummer and Tinuviel

[Tinuviel never goes on stage, but she does come to the con. She's got a little fenced off area to herself outside and con-goers can go visit her for the few hours she's there every day. She's a very well behaved horse and a veteran animal actor, though she's never had a role this big before.

This is not the first time she's worked with G either.

Areonwen's voice actor, Mary Louise Gummer, does go on stage. She's a handsome woman in her early sixties with a prominent nose. Gummer's done theatre and voice work before. She's very much at ease with the audience and hints that she might show up in person as part of a flashback scene next season.]

[G will stop by Tinuviel's area to talk to her and feed her, taking a few pictures with fans. He will also ride her around in a small field to help work off some nerves and then comb her out and in general showing that animal lover side of his that he has.]

Asuka Langley Soryu --> Stephanie Nakamura

[Stephanie would like to be a reluctant snob about the fact that her character was literally getting wrapped up in a CGI special-effects fest and objectifying skintight outfits next season now that she's 18, but really, she's just happy to have a part where she can scream at the someone at the top of her lungs and be completely in-character. Best job in the world.]

[Since the StE panel isn't for several hours, and as far as he knows there's no official shoots he's missing, Arslan is out, trying to get a feel for this ComiCon thing. He's pleasantly surprised whenever he's recognized by a fan and is more than happy to pose for pictures. For the most part, though, he wanders through the throng unnoticed, quietly taking in the sights.

And really, what sights they are! He doesn't know even a quarter of the things being celebrated, but he can admire the enthusiasm! He's snapped more than a few pictures himself. Honestly, he's being a big damn tourist rn.]

Dante Rantanen --> Sam Delyth

[By the way he acts, you wouldn't think Sam to be brand new to the business, but he is. Brought in shortly after the departure of the previous Riku, he's settled quickly into his new role on Save the Earth. Life outside of the series has been a total free-for-all (he'd never even thought about paparazzi or the press or being recognized on the street!), but contrary to the character he plays Sam's quick to emote and even quicker to laugh. Combined with his sharp tongue, it's gotten him a fast fanbase--sometimes Sam will even go on tumblr himself to see what moments of his are being gif'd now.

He's making trouble as he sits at the panel, armed with a pocket full of rubber bands and paper clips. His hair's shorter than it appears on TV, due mostly to how much it curls. Every so often, when he thinks he's about to be caught by one of his co-stars when he's about to snap a rubber band their way, he flops back into his chair with a sheepish grin, running his hands through it and mussing it up even more.]

[So this idiot has sat in this throne for the past twenty minutes in full costume and perfectly in character as the "Lord of the Bugmen," where he has ranted on about mustard packets and his "dogs."]

Hajime Aikawa -> Daichi Nagasawa

[So this guy's been performing on various Japanese superhero shows from a very young age, with his earliest roles being something along the lines of "kid the monster of the week was targeting." He's settled in nicely to his role here, even if he's got a reputation for playing pranks on the set. That was what that "Joker" thing he'd auditioned for in the first place meant, right? He seems to think so.]

Arthur Curry -> Chet Hammer

[So this guy has been an action star in the vein of Chuck Norris for quite some time now, and he seems more than happy to answer fans' questions. Talking to him for a little bit reveals that Arthur's sheer volume isn't exactly a stretch for him when it comes to acting. He's genuinely friendly and happy to chat about the role.

Chet Hammer is also not his real name, but you've got to do something to make yourself more marketable in Hollywood these days.]

Toushirou --> Peter Wells

[Continuing from last season, Peter looks a little more comfortable this time around. He's had more time to get used to the success and attention, and he carries himself a little better now. There's a bit of a childish grin whenever somebody mentions Toushirou's dragon powers, though. He doesn't care if it's just CGI, man. His character has a dragon and that's awesome, okay?]

[Speculations for season two are all over the place, since his reveal as a death god an the fans trying to figure out how all the powers he's got fit into that. There's disagreement over whether Toushirou is immortal, partially because he's a death god. Can those die? And the other part is based on what happened with Wise Snake. He got hit dead on and it didn't kill him. On the other hand, he didn't just pop right back up like Phillip. There's also debate on whether Hyourinmaru is going to actually turn out to be evil and try to take over his body this coming season. Voices in the head can't be trusted, right?

[Peter just quietly smiles at all the theories being thrown about. Nope, not going to spoil things for the fans.]

[After twenty minutes, Shou takes a spear from a guard - actually his bodyguard - and pretend stabs him with the blunt end muttering something in Japanese which is basically him complaining that this roach isn't singing like the roaches back home and must be defective.]
