Catch the snatcher or rough them up - you may or may not be surprised, if you come to blows or a chase, to find on throwing a punch that they're much quicker and/or sturdier than you'd have expected. Cool! It's rough being a journalist in this day and age, I hear. You freelance or attached to anything?

I... used to be. At the moment, I'm out of work. I had an assignment that... didn't go as planned, and ended up leading me on a very extended detour.

Ah. [Julien's really a lot more observant than he seems. He puts his head to one side.] Not good at all, huh.

[Not that he'll pry.] So! Been here long? This isn't a city known for being quiet. At all, really!

No, not very long. Long enough to see the snakes, but I came here to see my cousin.

Ahh. Lots of excitement, then. You staying with this cousin, somewhere else, what? A lot of buildings downtown were damaged, but there's also a general exodus away from the area.

No, actually, I'm going to be his roommate for a while. At least until I've gotten settled in here well enough to manage on my own again. Gabriel assured me it would be safe.

[espigeonage]

...West. Huh. [He tilts his head and contracts his pupils while looking at her, for a moment extremely birdlike.] You do look kind of like Gabe, now that I think of it.

[Julien resumed normal head orientation and pupil size, smiling.] He's a friend of mine. It's wild how people keep finding family here!

You know my cousin?

Yeah, I met him a ways back. He's pretty cool! [Julien won't out him as part of the Numbers Club if he doesn't have to.]

That's certainly one way of putting it. I'm curious how you two met.

It was a while ago. December, maybe? I was feeding animals in the park and we got to talking. ...I looked pretty different then, obviously.

[She chuckles softly and tucks her hair behind her ear, revealing the point on it]

[Julien can only hold his tail up for so long before the muscles tire. He lowers it until it lies behind his legs again.]
