Scenarios:

> Cleanup of downtown Locke City still has a ways to go. It looks like that shop you were planning on another trip to this week is closed for the time being. Or the entire block is trashed and you'll be needing an alternate route to work. Or your workplace is trashed, if not some real estate you had in the area, and you'll be needing a helping hand - or are trying to offer one!
> Help, help, I've been robbed - your bag or wallet's just been snatched, or is in the process of being snatched. Catch the snatcher or rough them up - you may or may not be surprised, if you come to blows or a chase, to find on throwing a punch that they're much quicker and/or sturdier than you'd have expected. Maybe someone will dive in to back you up.
> Monster encounter! The above or you were robbed (or, for all you could tell, misplaced something) a while ago, and one of the objects you lost seems to have come back to you, if not the way you recognize it. Ayup, getting backup might be a good idea.

[Fil had stepped out of the office to grab a quick lunch when he saw the mugging happen right in front of him. He stared, flabbergested for a moment before taking off after the mugger, shouting:]

Hey, the hell you think you're doing! Get back her with her bag!

[Unfortunately, there were too many people around and with the piles of debris everywhere it was far too easy for the mugger to disappear. Fil reappeared ten minutes later looking dishevelled and out of breathe.

Damnit, I lost him. You alright, Miss?

[She'd picked herself up from where she had initially stumbled and then fallen and was int he process of reporting her purse snatching to the police on the phone, only since she was a "non-emergency" she was on hold. It looked like her bag was a lost cause.]

Damn, you couldn't catch them? I'm okay, just a little bruised and a lot angry. Thanks. It seems no one else cares around here.

[her words were meant for the people who'd just kept going like nothing was wrong.]

[Fil shook his head, looking disgusted, either with himself or with the robber.]

No, sorry. Too fast and there were too many people standing idly around. And the debris doesn't help. [He'd almost tripped over a stray rock.]

I think most of them are all on edge because of recent events.

[Its her turn to look disgusted as her non emergency call to 911 is cut off. No doubt the switch board is overloaded with all kinds of problems right now.]

Oh really?! [She shoves her phone back in her pocket, glad that at least hadn't wound up in her bag like everything else.]

That or they're too busy oggling [The last bit she shouts, as she glares at the people walking around. Most ignore her, as to be expected in a city.]

Hey.. thanks anyway. The name is Ariel, and what's my would be hero's name?

I'm Fil. No hero here, just a friendly passerby who failed at catching a robber. [He shakes his head as the people who previously were too busy gawking instead of helping disappeared into the crowd. They could have at least helped Ariel up.]

You sure you're alright? That robber didn't push you too hard or something?

[She rubs at her ribs wher she'd crash landed against her car before falling down. They're a little bruised, but nothing serious.] I'll be alright. Did you happen to get a look at the person's face?

[Fil shakes his head. The robber had been wearing a cap and sunglasses, so most of his face wasn't visible.]

Nope. I think he knew what he was doing, his face was pretty much covered up. I'm hoping some enterprising guy had a cell phone out or something to record that asshole making a run for it.

I doubt anyone would care, even if a whole camera crew caught him on tape. After all it's not a sensation, just an every day occurrence, right?

It's can't hurt. As much as the police alternatively sucks or is overwhelmed, it's still there job. [Fil nods at Ariel's car.] You still got your keys or can I give you a lift anywhere?

[sylvanguard]

I'm lucky. My keys were still in my hand when I was robbed. I was actually on my way to my apartment when they mugged me.

That's good. You should probably head home, take a good long soak if you have a bathtub. That used to make me feel better when I've had something upsetting.

And chocolate. Nothing fixes a bad day like chocolate. But your advice pretty good. Thanks again.

No problem. And here. [Fil digs into his wallet for one of his business cards. His cell phone number is on it, as well as his full name.] Call me if you need something, like if the police wants a witness or something.

Thanks. [She glances at the business card, before tucking it into the pocket of her jeans.]

That's even if I can get ahold of them to report a crime. But I think I can call my laptop good as gone, and my wallet too.

[Fil winces. He'd feel awful if his own was taken, especially his laptop.]

You could just walk into a station. There's one not too far off from here I think. But yeah, likely the laptop's going be sold off. You had backups of your data I hope?

[sylvanguard]

It was just a personal thing, email, chat. That sort of stuff. I didn't use it for work. Kind of hard to lug it around a national park.

[She frowns at the idea of going into a police station.]

If they are as busy as they seem to be, I'd just waste more time hanging around for someone to take a statement and then be filed away somewhere, completely written off.
