Or the entire block is trashed and you'll be needing an alternate route to work. Or your workplace is trashed, if not some real estate you had in the area, and you'll be needing a helping hand - or are trying to offer one!
> Help, help, I've been robbed - your bag or wallet's just been snatched, or is in the process of being snatched. Catch the snatcher or rough them up - you may or may not be surprised, if you come to blows or a chase, to find on throwing a punch that they're much quicker and/or sturdier than you'd have expected. Maybe someone will dive in to back you up.
> Monster encounter! The above or you were robbed (or, for all you could tell, misplaced something) a while ago, and one of the objects you lost seems to have come back to you, if not the way you recognize it. Ayup, getting backup might be a good idea.

Just answers. [Answers that can solve this mystery of whatever is going on.] That's all I ask for.

C'mon, man. I'll talk a bit, but I want to know why it's so important to you. That, or a drink. Had to quit work, y'know. It's like they expect you to look human if you want a job around here.

[He says that last shaking his head sadly - turning something that really does bother him into a joke.]

[...Robert isn't entirely sure what to say here. Comforting people isn't exactly his forte.]

[Yeah he isn't really going to talk about why. It's... not something he wants to share.]

All right, then! [Julien may be curious, but he prefers not to pry. He really does seem consistently positive and cheerful.] C'mon, walk with me. I'll go slow.

[The sheer length of his legs makes his stride kind of alarming. He's got to be fearsome at a run.]

[Again, not something he wants to think about. He came here to seek answers, not have more questions to look into. One at a time, Hobbs.]

...right. [And follow he does, although somewhat warily and with a fair amount of trepidation. There's no telling what might happen next, after all.]

[Julien's clawed toes grip the ground as he walks. There's a weird grace to him despite the awkwardness of his body.]

So, my name's Julien Sakazaki. 24. I'm one of the people who's been part of this longest. Haven't even left town for long, ever.

[The introduction seems to be pretty helpful, at least, though Robert still can't help but be wary. Why is he doing this?]

I assume you're well-acquainted with all the strange events that's been happening in town.

You could say that, mystery man. I'm definitely not up on everything, for sure I'm less reckless than some of us. Public appearance aside.

[Despite the claws, when he walks it's almost silent.]

But, I do tend to have an idea.

[Well, the lack of sound is somewhat reassuring, though Robert still expects some clawing to happen in the near future. It looks kind of hard to not happen.]

So, what 'ideas' do you have now, then?

[He says it somewhat dryly, but there is still curiosity. Somebody who's been around these incidents for that long surely must have something he can glean from.]

[Julien smiles down at him.]

We thought this stuff was local to just Locke. Anyone who left the area would return to normal, or it used to be like that. But, the two things we thought were causing all this are dead now, and it continues.

[...your smile is somewhat unsettling, why are you doing that.]

What were these two things?

[His teeth look a little... off. They are not actually teeth.]

One was that giant snake thing. Being around it or pieces of it changed people. The other is something everyone calls an alien. I never saw it or had anything to do with that, personally.

[Robert isn't that all keen to know what they are, if they aren't teeth.]

The snake is pretty obvious. [Since it was kind of hard to miss.] What do you know about the alien?

[Relax, Bob, they're a beak.]

Locke's PD was going and colluding with it. They're being quiet little mice now that the FBI's breathing down their necks. [Julien snorts.] Ah, that's not fair, it wasn't the whole force. But it's corrupt from the top, and the alien was giving them some advantages.

[Well its not like he knew that!!

Also, as much as Robert has his own issues with the police, its hard to believe things went to that level. Just what hell was going on with the force...? It's too bad he turned in his resignation so many years ago, but at least now he has the freedom of not being so restricted. Not to mention he doesn't work well with homicides anyway.]

Must have been a shock, discovering that. [He says, more to himself than the other.] So the force is corrupt. What's going on with the town now?

Mmm. ["The police are corrupt" seems to affect this guy, Julien notices.] Right now? We're still pretty much finding our footing. I say "we" like it's a united thing, but it's really not!

Plenty of people are basically trying to live their normal lives, take things as they come. You might count me in there. Weird little monsters have started showing up in the city now, we don't know what's up with them.

Then there's people who want to go to Vegas because there was pink light there and we don't know if it means there's a snake or what.

[Yeah, he heard about Vegas as well, but Robert isn't that interested in that place for now. If you want answers, go straight to the horse's mouth, as the saying goes.]

Why aren't you going to Vegas, then? [Especially since you're obviously... well, the guy obviously is part of whatever's going on, one way or another.]

I've been before! It's very exciting, but kinda a headache after a while, you know? Really I'd rather be out in the desert. Anyway, if I did go I'm not sure I could help with much! Kind of conspicuous.

[Well when put it that way, Robert can see what he's getting at. Plus what he does is not his business, anyway.]

You are already pretty obvious, no matter where you are.

[Yeah, he's pretty blunt on this, but it is the truth.]

A little bit, yeah! And I'd really like to keep from advancing my "condition" any further. Hanging around weird lights and snakes tends to do that.

Wouldn't staying here be counterproductive to that?

[Considering that this place is pretty much the center of whatever is going on.]

Yeah, a bit. But it's not basically guaranteed like heading out to Vegas. And, I have friends out here, and I'm not sure where else I'd go. My face's been spread around enough that even without wings, anywhere I could get to easily, people will recognize me. If anyone makes something of that it's probably better if I have backup.

[It's a reasonable explanation, one that Robert can get behind. Even if there's a part of him that still can't quite agree, but arguing here won't get him anywhere.]

Considering the duration of your involvement, I'm sure you must know a lot about the others.

[The others like you, he leaves it unsaid.]
