I've been planning it for months. Took forever to get all the stuff together.

[He's starting to be a little less shy now that the ramp's coming together so well.]

You mean you've had no one to help you? [She is almost done adding the support. It's a lot less wobbly on this end, but it's still a little shaky. Ariel just thinks it will add tot he excitement!]

Yeah, my sister's too little to help.

[And he's one of those too-quiet kids with very few friends...not that he really bothers him as he carefully makes sure everything is relatively stable. It's not like he's got nails or anything to get it to stick together better.]

My lil' sis woudl just run to mom saying I was doing something dangerous.

[To Ariel, it's perfect, but only because she's never built anything like this before and she is really excited to test it out and give it a go.]

I don't think Mitsuko would, unless it was really bad...

[He's putting on his helmet now, because his parents got him a cool superhero one and the least he can do is wear it in the hopes of channeling cool superhero power to make this jump.]

Alright, I think I'm ready.

[Ariel steps back to give him room. Since he built the ramp, its really is only fair that he goes first.

She grins seeing his helmet, thinking it was pretty cool. Hers was pink wit flowers. A christmas gift from a friend of the family. She'd stuck pirate and dinosaur stickers on it to try and hide the flowers, but they were embarrassingly florescent pink.

Once away, she gives him the thumbs up sign and eagerly awaits the awesome that is about to happen.]

[He gives her a thumbs-up, and there he goes, pedalling at the ramp as fast as he can, and, miraculously enough, it holds just long enough to get him quite a bit of altitude...but it's wobbly enough that there's no way he's going to be able to stick that landing, and...

wow, that is an impressive wipe-out.]

[SHe clasps for him, cheering him on, and then.... wow. gasping Ariel bolts over towards him, worried and more than a little scared.]

Hey, you okay?! You alive?

[He groans, and sits up, and generally looks dazed and miserable. He's blown out the knees on his jeans, is pretty scraped up, and is probably going to get killed by his parents when he gets home.]

I think so...

[She winces big time at his scrapes, but at least he is moving, right?]

You got some sweet air time before you crashed.

[Ariel is torn with wanting to have a go at it and helping him out. Its obvious the way she keeps looking between him and the ramp.]

[He's still wincing as he sits up.]

Did I? It...the ramp wobbles...

Probably need some rope or something [She has no idea, really.]
Well for a bit and then boom crash! [She makes some gestures to go along with the crash noises she is making.]

Maybe so...

[But ow, that hurts, ow, ow, he's holding one of his arms funny when he gets up.]

[Ariel winces looking at his arm.]

I think we need to take you home. Or to the nearest adult.

Mom's gonna kill me...

[It's not clear if he's saying that because of his arm or because he's torn up his pants pretty good in the process.]

[Ariel has been in a similar boat, so it's safe to say: both.]

'prolly, but at least she'll help you and maybe she'll kill you after instead of before!

[So helpful.]

'Kay which way is home? Or do you wanna stay here and lemme go an find an adult?

Maybe so...

[He's limping over to his bike now. Can't leave that behind!]

It's a couple of blocks over that way. I'll go too--she's gonna freak out either way, and it'd be worse if I wasn't there with you.

[Ariel grabs her bike as well and starts walking with him, keeping an eye out just in case, because wow he totally starting to not look so good.]

[He really doesn't, but at least they're pretty close to Japantown, which means they're pretty close to the restaurant and the apartment his family has above it. And he's stubbornly heading in that direction, trying to walk along like everything is fine.]

[She is trying to do her best to keep him distracted now, idly chattering about all kinds of stuff, and being excited about things in Japantown.]

So you live here? this is pretty cool. Do you have those spotty fish? The orange and white ones! I go to feed some once.

Koi? We don't have any, but there are ponds here and there if you know where to look. And some of 'em have a little dispenser thing where you can put in a quarter and get a handful of food to give them.

[Good call, he looks a little better with the distraction.]

That what they are called? Oh neat. I like them. I wanna have a pool of them but we cant since we're always movin' Its why I can't have a dog or a kitty either. Mom says it wouldn't be fair.

You got pets?

[She will continue to ramble on like this, glancing at him every so often to make sure he looks like he can keep going, But that arm tho. She is worried.]

Nah, we can't have any. We live above the restaurant--my sister snuck a puppy in once for a couple days and Mom got really mad and then I told her I'd brought it home...

[Oh, good, he's all distracted by the story...]

[She thinks that's a brilliant idea, and needs to confer with her sister to see if that will work on their parents or not.]

Oooh what happened to it?

[She can guess that it didn't end well, but she was holding out for a happy story.]

We had to give it to one of the kids in her class, and I got grounded for a couple weeks.
