The All-Purpose CR/Plotting Meme



The meme is open to, as per always, making arrangements with and between:
- Current characters in game.
AND
- Potential characters - any characters you may have in mind up for app/re-app consideration, who there is a header for under the main post.

If you have an app in that has not been processed, please, don't be shy about commenting around for prospective CR and plans on entry - though, of course, remember that plans will be tentative!

Locations in which characters may have had their first echoes are the current echo boundaris: Locke City and Las Vegas (USA), the area around Neuschwanstein Castle (Germany/Austria), Lapland (Finland), Christmas Island (Australia), and the future echo boundaries: Tokyo (Japan), the Galapagos Islands (Equador), the area around Santarem (Amazonas, Brazil), London (UK). The future echo boundaries will open up between now and early April.

For ideas, here is the last plot post. Of special note are the doppelgänger in the Neuschwanstein Area and the anti-numbered musical in Las Vegas.

A blurb about them:

Nathan is a few months removed from a really abusive family situation. He'd been so close to going off to college, man. Too bad the scholarship process fell through and he got thrown out by his dad on his 18th birthday, huh? He's managed to get on his feet enough to have an extremely boring low-level job and a little apartment in a not-so-great neighbourhood. One or both of those things may soon be changing because L is a big old worrywart who has offered him a better situation.

He's extremely bright, but kind of a trainwreck in dealing with people on bad days. And he's full of anxiety issues and is super cautious. He's actually had his number since November and never contacted anyone until the end of January because all this shit is scary. No, he hasn't even gone into Expresso Yourself. You've all seen what goes down there. Damn place is a death trap.

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: He comes from a poorer area of town, so anybody who went to (or taught) school or hung around in those kinds of area might have met him when he was younger. He joined a lot of clubs at school since he was afraid to go home, so there are theoretically some possibilities there.

Open/Wanted CR: GIMME IT ALL. Nathan is a very lonely young fellow and he needs people. Mentors or nurturing types are super amazing and needed. Intellectual folk. People his own age to maybe get him to live a little. Friends, people who may be put off by his lacking social skills. Whatever, man. Gimme.

Hooks: Whether he winds up living there or not, Nathan will probably be hanging out at Willow Ridge Boarding Academy a lot. He's got a history with L, so anyone involved with him in a significant way will see him around. He'll mostly be pinged by anyone trying to figure out what the hell is going on when stuff happens; his brain is wired to try and figure shit out and he really wants to understand things. When he doesn't understand, it's bad for his anxiety. He's not the most inclined to get physically involved with stuff, but if you need a thinker? He's here.

Plans/ongoing character plots: I don't have too much specific here except for the fact that he's gonna be trying to make sure L doesn't get his dumb butt killed in some way. I'm pretty wide open for him, really.

A blurb about them: Spoilt rich boy who runs an art gallery and paints and Liam Benedict's father. He's cheerful and ditzy and smarter than you think, and he's only just met you but he loves you. But he loves his wife Lisa more okay, so don't go getting funny ideas

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: Lisa someone play Lisa. Or their poor long-suffering Limo driver, who can also drive a helicopter and a light plane because yes, they are that rich. Any artists who are reasonably well known? He's probably very supportive of the indie, private scene as well as big name famous people, and tends to favour landscapes over abstracts on a personal level. Rich people in general XD

Open/Wanted CR: nothing specific just BE HIS FRAND LET HIM PAINT YOU

Hooks: Arnold probably will be staging a small exhibition of his recent artwork in Locke at some point, and he's always looking for inspiration, so is likely to be out and about once Liam is over his recent 'flu looking for things to paint. If you are interesting, he will want to paint you. If there is an interesting building, he will want to paint it. Heck, he'll probably be quite happy sitting in the park and painting, so just tell me how you want him XD

We don't have CR yet, and I would really like to change that! L makes an effort to try to at least know who everyone is, so I'd be really interested in them meeting. They don't have a lot in common religiously (L's Jewish) so I don't think they'd meet this way, but the school he bought and renovated houses the Numbered's main mode of transportation and he sort of collects mentors and mentees. Even if that's not in the cards for Stefan and L, his school and his business (the coffee shop Espresso Yourself) are both good hubs for mingling, so both are definitely ways he could meet new people.

I haven't planned out a great deal with him other than he's someone who is less of an isolationist than his previous self but still rather guarded. The most that is set in stone is that he's related to others here, he's coming from Frane where he owns a vineyard and he's looking to explain to California before coming to one of the echo cities due to family reasons.

Pre-Network CR Opportunities: Anything, really. Really. Those he knew from France, family, friends of the family, etc.

Oh yes, we should! I think I dropped the ball on that our last thread, so that is all on me :') I'd be keen on picking that up since Stefan's used the teleporter a couple of times by now, and honestly I do think Stefan could connect with him religiously unless it's a iffy topic for you at all.

(A lot of interfaith work does deal with all three Abrahamic religions, so Stefan could've worked with L's rabbi without knowing it?) I think if that were a possibility, that would feel more like a surprise bit of information down the line than how they met...

I would be super interested in replying to the log! I'll keep an eye out for it.

...so anyway you know L's good for the mentoring position, as reliably as he can be when he's ensnared in treacherous webs and stuff. As you're aware he's working on fixing the lonely by introducing him to other charming young men, and he will keep doing that because Nathan is the next Einstein Jesus gonna change the world Wammy's style clearly very important. He always needs a thinker and if Nathan lets him, he'll hook him up with a much more interesting job and a room he can litter with as many legos as his heart desires.

I know so little about interfaith work but that is super interesting, and I would absolutely be game to make this connection. L practices unreliably and in a way that's frustrating for the truly devout to witness (he falls in and out of going to synagogue, is vague about confirming that he actually believes in God, but is very stringent and particular about eating Kosher, etc), but lately he's been happier, and he has been going more regularly and has recently reconnected with a lot of the community he fell out of touch with in his late teens.

Specific information about L's rabbi and relationship with his synagogue, should you find a way or choose to use it...!

{If Stefan ever asks Rabbi Melnick directly about Lazarus, he's likely to get an avoidant discourse about how God has a path for us all but some of us wander long before we find it, and how some of us face incredible challenges and tests, that kind of thing. If Stefan is good at reading people, he'll pick up on the fact that the individuals who have been acquainted with Lazarus from his early youth regard him with tenderness, but also concern and pity. Numbered hub/headquarters/teleporter location is an old, Victorian-era boarding school that is a very interesting building. It's had a lot of recent work put into it and a lot of stories already from its latest revival, so he should totally come by and ask to paint it, or parts of it, or people in it.

Awesome! If he's heading into Locke from Vegas, or wants to use the teleporter, this is where he's ending up. I'm setting up an open log in the next couple of days (tomorrow with any luck), so look for it then! There'll be a few prompts and I'll try to make it easy for anyone to jump into.

Hey, no worries! Interfaith work tends to vary depending on the city and the population - so for instance, a college campus would deal with students of all religious backgrounds while Locke might have more people who follow Abrahamic religions. I know that where I am, Humanist and atheist groups have actually spearheaded interfaith efforts (ie, they founded an interfaith group). There's a lot of wiggle room to work with, and I'm kind of a religion nerd so don't worry - I am super excited to run with this at full speed. C:

Most likely, Stefan might've seen him around once or twice when he visits the synagogue [college kids would've dragged him to services like Interfaith Shabbats, where groups introduce Judaism to people who are otherwise unfamiliar and allow them to take part in the service and subsequent dinner] but then never connected the dots until they met, or something.

Stefan, as a Muslim convert, is scary devout - which will be such a huge problem when he becomes a vampire, because it's not compatible with his religion :') Or Judaism, really; blood is neither kosher nor halal. I don't ever mind explaining things or discussing things!! I can, however, tl;dr about this so I try not to say much unless the other party is interested.

Nathan will help pry you out of your current treacherous web as soon as he realizes you're in one, L. But wow, so much pressure to be Einstein Jesus. The job is at least highly likely; actually moving in right now is a bit less so because he will still be recovering from all the awkward.

Dude L is so ridiculously used to people going in and out to use the teleporter by this point that it would probably take him days to notice. That's saying something, on account of the fact that he's echoing back the world's greatest detective. o_O
