DAEMON MEME

THE DAEMON MEME

a DAEMON is an animal that represents your character's soul in some way; the concept originates from Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy.

HANDY WIKI LINK

Daemons are ALMOST ALWAYS the opposite gender of their person, and while their shape reflects their person's personality, they don't always agree with their person. Someone who seems stern might have a stern daemon... or they may have a boisterous one, showing a hidden side to them.

Children who haven't been through puberty have daemons that shapeshift, but they often have favorite forms.

SO

1. POST WITH YOUR CHARACTER.

2. If you know what their Daemon would be, tell us, and explain why! Is their preincarnation daemon any different than their reincarnation's? Why or why not?

3. If you're like WOW LAWL I HAVE NO CLUE then post asking for advice

4. RP stuff out! This is open to potential applicants as well for them to get a feel for their characters. Daemons are a great way to suss out personality traits.

I actually don't have a clue about what Shou/Sho would have for a daemon so I would like suggestions. This life, he is a flashy but nice guy with a bit of temper and a mischievous streak and a lot more cleverer than he thinks he is. And a total goof. In his last life, well, a lot more aggressive, less prone to fits of pure mischief and very attached to those few people that he trusts in his life, so much so he goes on a suicidal charge against a whole armed gang when his family dies off.

Hmmm...

This life could have a Western Scrub Jay maybe. Pretty blue birds, have the playfulness common to corvids, shockingly smart but humans tend to underestimate them, children help raise siblings. They defend their nests.

Last life, I really hate resorting to ravens. Everyone already knows they're cool. Still! Aspects rarely focused on: Young ravens are exceedingly social, mischievous, playful etc but this mostly fades back. They roost in huge conglomerations. Also they pair up, and if a pair gets a chance to hold a territory they do so and become almost solitary - sometimes a couple has one or two friends, otherwise they're hostile to all other ravens and devoted to each other and their nests, which they defend fiercely.

Even young ravens have a violent kind of sense of justice - sort of - well, they'll kill a hapless other raven they perceive as getting advantages the others don't. They also recognize humans who've done them good or wrong and treat them accordingly, treating ones they don't like with great hatred. You can say that about scrub jays too, it's just... less pronounced.

Wow, that bit about the ravens does seem a lot like him in his past life. Even if you don't think about how much Shou needed Kei and how he treated everyone around him depending on how they treated him, and so on.

I also like the scrub jay. I can imagine that she would be even more talkative than him and all full of the sassy gossip.

Well... in the movie, Sho is raised by Kei, as was his older brother and his friend Toshi. But both Toshi and Shinji left the two, so Sho basically got to the point where he mimicked Kei's habits, lifestyle and so on. They were pretty much dependent on each other, Sho more so than Kei. When Toshi was killed, Kei fled because he felt that if he was able to control his nature, he could have saved Toshi. Sho closed himself off more - grew up more or less - got married and everything but he was still isolated from everyone despite his chosen gang. After about nine years, he led an attack against a Triad-owned business because they were still poking at his older brother and they were behind the strike that got Toshi killed.

Kei does return and Sho drops everything in order to try to save him. This gets his gang killed and then his brother gets killed trying to kill the Triad's head - Shinji was also stoned at the time. That also breaks what little bond he has with his brother-in-law who worked for the Triad. Then his wife gets a brain tumor and then Kei appears just long enough for he and Sho to go after the Triad. And then everyone dies :3
